WEAKNESSES • COM·PE·TI·TION tallie is the only child of patrick flynn and fiona flynn (both acclaimed actors in their own rights), which means that she had no competition with any siblings growing up. so, she grew up to be a sort of 'wallflower', with no competitive element to her personality. and, when you're a wallflower, it's hard to make your voice heard over others - especially if they're the boisterous, fiesty type. and, unluckily for tallie, there are plenty of that type in this industry. she has always tried her best to overcome this weakness of hers, but alas, it has proved to be just too strong. this girl seems very set in her ways when it comes to her shyness. she will do anything to remain in her shell while she's not acting - she's quite happy just remaining 'the quiet one on the outskirts' instead of trying to face up to her competition. • E·GO·CEN·TRI·SM if there's one thing that rubs lulah up the wrong way, it's these people with egos far bigger than they should humanly be. again, a trait that's rife within the show business. again, something this girl likes to avoid confrontation with at all costs. not only do those people make her feel inferior to the highest extent, but they just plain old annoy her, too. especially when she can see that, in fact, they really have nothing much at all to brag about. plus, it doesn't help that she has no capabilities whatsoever to 'big herself up' herself. so she can't even get on par with them when they're ranting about their talents. and that's even more demeaning! • BE·TRAY·AL the third most common trait of a-listers (you're starting to doubt her thirst to join this elite, aren't you? just remember that fiery determination!)... it's really unfortunate that tallulah isn't more resistant to being affected by these bitchy and snide characteristics of her peers. but this one, above all, is one she cannot bear. the idea that someone you trust, are friends with, and enjoy being in the company of, just suddenly turns on you, in an announcement that they care very little for you anymore - it's too much. however, it's never yet happened on a fully-fledged scale yet, so... let's hope it doesn't... ever. • MYS·TER·Y she hates any mystery, chance, surprise, or unknown element to anything. simple as that. whether it's a surprise birthday party (even if it's one for someone else!), someone jumping out randomly to scare her, or just the plain old fact that she doesn't know what will happen in her future, she loathes the concept of it. and if anyone brings it up, it plays on her mind for hours afterwards. a lot of the time, it keeps her awake at night, as she thinks up potential dreams and nightmares of the future. she tends to keep this irrational fear to herself, and puts it down to her love for constant organisation in her life. • NON·CHA·LANCE when someone doesn't care, it really riles tallie up. especially if it's about something she's passionate about. i mean, why could you just cast something to one side when it clearly means a lot of importance to someone else? it's like a lack of respect, and it will probably be something (again) that she sees plenty more of when she truly lands herself a real part to play in this walk of live. alas, lulah is, of course, far too reclusive to actually make a song and dance about it all, so she rarely lets lose on anyone. unless they're particularly offensive. then she can show them her (very rare) "go-apeshit-over-practically-nothing" reaction. SKILLS • CHAR·AC·TER·I·SA·TION tallie's most acclaimed talent lies in characterisation. her ability to assess, adapt and then take on other peoples' airs and graces just by observing them - or reading about them - is astounding. lulah has already been praised for her childhood acting roles by truly and realistically "bringing to life" the characters she's portrayed. • AC·CENTS another talent of tallie's (that aids the effectiveness of her characterisations too!) is the fact that she can do great accents. like, really. from british english, to french, to australian - though her best, by far, is her american-english. her parents have always had her practise accents, as the last thing they wanted was for her to miss out on any acting roles just due to her irish lilt. • SING·ING having sung ever since she joined belfast school of performing arts, lulah has found herself really enjoying (and being really good) at singing. she has been referred to as "an angel" when she sings any a time, and her voice resembles her personality - soft, tender, sweetly accented and full of character. she's got great marks on all the singing exams she's taken, too. • IM·PRO·VIS·A·TION thinking up sketches and improvised pieces of drama on the spot are more often than not hard for a lot of actors and actresses. but it seems to be something lulah is quite good at. it began originally with all the mimicking of teachers she did at her private schools with her friends, but then it turned out she could do even better things with it, and it sure bumped up her drama exam grades! • STO·RY·TELL·ING everyone has a story to tell, but some tell them better than others. this trait of tallie's was inherited by her mother, who, together with her imaginative little daughter, used to dream up wonderful stories and tales every night time after dinner. to this day, the girl loves to show off her imaginative side - but nowadays, she doesn't always have someone to tell her tales, so she keeps a little notebook of them in her desk drawer. "You're a fuck around." "You can't know love." "Who could love you?" "A false, unloved creature." "Who would want you?" It hurt Freeman to hear his best friend saying all the things he was so used to calling himself in the bleak, black past. Hateful things, painful things, things that no one would ever believe could come out of Noah Myles' mouth, of all people. But Freeman, the boy with the wicked golden tongue, had coaxed them out with his way with words. It was as if Noah had been bitten by a snake, and instead of sucking the poison out, mopping up his tears and sympathizing with him - like any friend would, let alone a best friend - Freeman had cheered the snake on and watched his best friend writhe with overflowing pain and angst. The way Noah was going, Freeman wouldn't mind being the snake himself and sinking his teeth into him, the motherfucker. He stood there, clenching his fists until his fingernails dug into the palms of his hands, which hadn't fully recovered from the stage dive. Talking about Evie like that - a girl he had even met. This wasn't Noah at all, but then again, was this Freeman? Of course, I'd like to say it isn't, but who's to know? Maybe it was the confused, scared little star-boy, trying to break free from within, maybe it was all of his seared up hatred for the man who it all boiled down to all coming out at once. But one thing was for sure: this wasn't the first time Freeman had encountered such a personality change, and it wouldn't be the last. "I wish you could know what it's like to be loved and held by someone who means it, to tell them they love you fully for a longer period of time than an hour." Freeman wasn't the only one, then. There were times, whether he was with Evie or not, that he doubted her to a ridiculous level. He doubted what she said, whether she meant what she had said, whether she loved him as much as he loved her... it was endless. What Noah had just said only helped to reinforce the lack of faith, which completely rubbed Freeman up the wrong way. They say love isn't love 'till you give it away - he had indeed given himself entirely to Evie, but with no knowledge at all about what would happen. All this love stuff had had Freeman feeling like a newborn child. Evie had caught him off-guard, he had fallen, hard. And now, despite his own doubts about his girlfriend, he was running and screaming in her defense... at his own best friend. Was this what love was all about? Freeman didn't have a clue. He had never known, he didn't even know now, when he was actually part of something that could be called a relationship, how could he ever know? Before, Freeman had come to appreciate the fact that he worked like a robot internally, but now he had realised that he was compared to one on the outside too. The boy didn't want to be heartless. He would do anything to change himself, start afresh, work his way back up from scratch. But it always deemed itself impossible. He was caught in a trap with no way out, and he wasn't going to keep his claws within the cage for very long - he was bound to lash out at someone sooner or later. And boy, had he lashed out - he'd carried out his deeds with a teacher, his best friends... suddenly, his girlfriend didn't seem too far from the list. All of a sudden, Noah's hands were around the boy's neck and Freeman was immediately shunted backwards into the wall with a loud thud. Despite his injury, the blood was boiling in Noah now and nothing seemed to matter apart from breaking even with his best friend. Freeman breathed deeply through his nose, angrily, but as best as he could without obviously struggling for breath, not wanting to seem like the easy picking in this fight. He listened to Noah's little speech with sullen, unemotional eyes, boring right into that of his best friend's. "WHY? You know I love her, you know I do. Why would you do it to me? You know how I feel, why, couldn't you, for JUST once let me have something for myself, why do you have to TAINT everything I ever wanted? Just because you'll never know what it's like, just because Freeman, you're not worth this. It's not worth it anymore..." Then, as simple as that, he let him free. The boy tried not to choke for air, but he spluttered once and bent double, releasing his hands from the balls of fury they had become to hold onto his legs for support. But when he lent on them, Freeman realized his hands ached like hell. He could feel each and every pump of the blood struggling to circulate them as he too tried to regain a vaguely regular breathing pattern to keep his boiling blood pumping around the whole of his body, let alone his hands. Freeman could feel a sharp pain in his right hand and, when he lifted it, a dark patch of blood had been left behind, seeping into his dark denim jeans. The boy inspected the reopened wound. It hurt, but he was on par with Noah now. Even with injuries, nothing stood in the way when you felt like this, not even your best friend. Freeman returned to a standing position just in time to see Noah wipe his face. Tears. He had reduced his own best friend to tears. What kind of monster had he become? Is this what love was all about? And I would like to say these were Freeman's own thoughts, but unlike him, I don't like to lie. He tried to hide a smirk from spreading across his face as he realized thankfully that, yes, he had one up on Noah yet again. Freeman lifted his chin slightly, pouting his lips in a mock sad face as he wryly listened intently to Noah finishing his little monologues. Then came the more painful statements. Freeman closed his fists back in on themselves, his fingernails piercing into the wounds again in anger. "Cold, heartless and ruined." "I fucking pity this girl you're with." "You're sick." "Tired of never being able to feel like a real man." "You've probably given her diseases and disease after the girls you've slept with." "Are you still that sad, lonely and lost boy?" Rage fell down on Freeman in a blood red mist. He was ready to blow, and Noah had no where to run. It was his fault, after all, provoking him. Noah had to suffer the consequences just as his best friend just had for his words of wisdom with that collaring. Now, it was Freeman O'Connell's turn. "Hey. Mate. Are you done?" He started, staring solidly at Noah in an expressionless and frankly, ludicrously chilling way. As if to prevent his best friend from talking anymore, he lifted his hands up in the air, fingers outstretched, raw bloody palms in clear view. Freeman looked at his right hand and shrugged. "Looks like we're even." The boy added, then he walked up to Noah until he was too close for comfort to the boy, trying to intimidate his best friend. He was pretty sure it was working. "How about a shake for a fair fight?" Freeman snarled, then took Noah's limp left hand in his bloody right and crushed his injured hand against his best friend's in a more-than-firm handshake. The boy took a couple of steps back from his best friend, his head dropped, then he lifted his head slowly, a grim little smirk playing on his lips. "Oh, but wait. I think you and I both know I was lying when I said we were even." Freeman concluded, then swung a right hook at Noah with his bloodied hand, a full force blow to the side of his face. It was a few seconds before Freeman came back into a clearer state of mind. The surge of pain and fury that had just come over him was dizzying, numbing his mind with white noise. What the fuck had he just done? His eyes widened as he saw his best friend clutching at his face in pain. Freeman swallowed as shock hit him square in the chest, causing him to have to remind himself to breathe. He lifted his bloody hands to either side of his forehead, holding his head in pure terror at what he had been reduced to, his vision reeling from the adrenaline. Then Freeman realised, to his horror, it wasn't adrenaline that was clouding up his view, it was tears. A sob choked up in his throat and the boy slowly dropped down to the floor in a pile, sliding his back along the wall for support. He couldn't take it anymore. "I lied, Noah! I lied." Freeman exclaimed, wanting rid of the guilt-ridden burden that had been holding him down. Tears streamed down his face as he continued. "I never slept with Nahla, I- I'm not even sure the girl I've fallen in love-" Here he laughed through his tears at the idea of it... love and Freeman O'Connell. "Evie. I don't even know if she loves me, Noah. What does that make me? What... what did what I just do make me?" He briefly raised his bloodshot eyes to Noah in fright, then lowered them at the sight just as quickly, sickened by what he had done to his best friend. "What am I, man? What am I..." Freeman ran his stained hands through his hair strenuously, collapsing into tears again. He had ended up hitting his best friend. That... that was not what love was all about. It was cold, it was heartless, it was sick - it proved he was still that sad, lonely, lost little boy. And there, the 18-year-old little boy remained, rocking himself back and forth, both a fear and a hatred for himself to last a lifetime and his best friend's previous words echoing in his mind. "I know one thing for sure, I will NEVER be like you. I won't let it happen. Cold, heartless and ruined, no. Never." And for that, the emotionally unstable boy was glad. No one should deserve this but himself.
