dan has an extremely fun side. he likes to have a good time and has always been known for throwing the best parties. public image is important to him, so he often tells people what they want to hear to get him what he wants. aside from that, he isn't afraid to step on a few toes. he can be extremely sarcastic, to a point where people might call him an asshole. he's really not a mean person, but he can be a little rude at times as well as a little narcissistic. he knows he's good looking, and he can't help but flaunt it sometimes even now that he's pushing forty. he's not really the self-sacrificing type, but he's been known to do it every now and then. now that he's getting older, he's become more private than when he was younger. he's not as interested in being in the papers and blogs for his scandals. he's ready to move on in his life and grow up a little, though deep down he's still got that little part of him holding onto his twenties.

history evaluated.

daniel and victoria patterson were married right after high school after being the model couple for the entire four years. they were truly in love, and it was almost too cliche to be true. she was a cheerleader, he was on the football team; but it was just perfect enough. victoria got into modeling while daniel went to med school. things changed when victoria decided she wanted children. she'd made quite a name for herself modeling swimwear, so she retired from modeling and became a stay at home wife. she got pregnant with their first child, and when he was born they named him after daniel; being the only child without a designer-middle name. after dan was born, they had four more children. dan was the typical oldest child - he was the first to do everything and he made very big shoes for his siblings to fill. he was a very well-mannered child, always used his "please"es and "thank you"s. he made friends easily from the time he was in kindergarten, something that followed him up until now. he was actually a smart child - he could read before he entered school along with spell quite well.

through school, his favorite subject was definitely english and reading. he always impressed his teachers with his creative stories and poems. he took an interest in shakespeare, particularly captivated by macbeth. while most children would be teased and made fun of for liking poetry and reading, he used it to woo girls. he was always a member of the popular crowd, being on the soccer, baseball, and rugby teams during high school. he was everyone's favorite athlete, the versatile one that all the teachers praised because he was an amazing student as well as athlete. he always managed to balance school and sports, even if his schoolwork wasn't always ethically sound, but hey, whose work in high school is completely theirs anyway? he graduated with honors and was offered several scholarships for his writing and rugby as well.

dan ended up at duke university to play as well as earn an english degree. in his last year there, he met his first wife, molly. after graduating from duke, he and molly got married. dan was always a family man and was eager to start a family of his own, so only a couple months after they were married, molly got pregnant. nine months later, dan's first daughter lauren was born. lauren loved her dad, and they were one happy little family. dan got a job as an english professor at a college back in california where they took up residence, and they were happy; at least until the relationship between molly and dan began to crumble a little. they were both having some sort of pre-mid-life crisis after seven or so years of marriage, and while molly turned to alcohol, dan cheated on her. he eventually told her, and they both agreed on a divorce. after that day, lauren hated him. she refuses to talk to him or accept financial support from him to this day. he wants to make amends, but she won't even let him apologize. she wants him to stay out of her life and is adamantly protecting her mother, who is now basically a dead-beat alcoholic, unable to bounce back from the divorce.

about a year later, dan went on his annual family vacation to jamaica. his family is full of strict catholics and they're all a closely knit bunch, who all still try their hardest to go on a vacation every year together. while in jamaica, he fell in love with one of the girls working at the hotel bar. her name was polliana, but everyone called her paul. she said she was bar-tending as a side job to get her through med-school, and she was just as interested in him as he was in her. after a drunken night on the beach, they had an impromptu wedding ceremony there in jamaica after only knowing each other for about a week and a half. when it came time for dan to sober up and go home - and break the news to his parents - everything went wrong. he was convinced he was in love with paul, but she refused to leave jamaica and go to america with dan. his second marriage was extremely short-lived, but left him somewhat-scarred. he had trouble getting over her, and is probably still kind of in love with her despite knowing how bad of a choice it was to get married to her in the first place.

after returning to america, he switched from being a professor to editing scripts for movies. at this job, he decided he was happier. he got to work in close quarters with some pretty famous people, what's not to like? one day, he was given a script by an author about his age named sherry. they hit it off and ended up going out for drinks that night. from there, it was history. about a year and a half or so later they were married; they were in love, but sherry was also pregnant. they both wanted children, and since dan had no contact with his first child, he wanted kids with this woman. his first son was born then, named dane. the second came two years later, named jacob. they were a very happy family unit for five years, until dan decided to take up directing. doing so consumed a lot of his time, so his family naturally felt neglected. shortly after his thirty-eighth birthday, and after a six month engagement overseas for a film, he and sherry decided on a divorce. they weren't getting along anymore, and she told him about an affair she had over those six months. dane and jake were heartbroken, but dan still tries his best to be at every event in their lives. sherry and dan remain on good terms for the sake of their children, but now that he can put all his energy into his work, dan believes he's a better director. he has no plans of changing careers anytime soon: actually, he wants to make it big, get filthy rich, and settle into a mansion in beverly hills.
