Biography At 15, she asked her mother to move to New York City for the summer to audition for casting calls. Unsuccessful at first, they returned the following summer and she successfully got a small role in the TV series Monk. Her second film performance in The Poker House earned her an Outstanding Performance Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival. She has since earned an Academy Award nomination for her performance as Ree in the critically acclaimed independent film Winter's Bone. Trivia She is first cousins with actress Bianca Tanner. Appeared in Parachute's 2009 music video "Mess I Made". Grew up on a ranch in Lincoln with her parents, Michael and Naomi Tanner, older brother Andrew and younger brother Jesse.
