[atrb=style,background-color: FFFFFF,bTable] | EMILY DURANT Actress Born: Emily Olivia Durant July 15, 1983 in Los Angeles, California. Biography Though born in Los Angeles, Emily spent the majority of her childhood years in England where she lived with her mother, author Lily Baxter and journalist Charlie Durant, current editor of Debonair magazine. Her passion for acting originated from theatre and prior to work as a screen actress, she starred regularly on off-Broadway productions including Reefer Madness in New York, a role she would later reprise for film. After a handful of guest appearances and small roles, her breakthrough role was that of the title character in Veronica Mars, a teen-dramedy television show about a student who progresses from high school to college while moonlighting as a private investigator under the tutelage of her detective father. She has since gone on to star in comedy films Forgetting Sarah Marshall and When in Rome and gained a role in sci-fi series Heroes, playing Elle Bishop. Currently a cast member of the hit TV show Life Intertwined. Trivia Daughter of author Lily Baxter and journalist Charlie Durant. Was born to a surrogate mother, screenwriter Olivia Loker. Is of Irish, Hungarian-Jewish, Polish and Scandinavian descent. Was the inspiration behind the character Arianna in the book "The Saviours of Ordstra" by her mother, Lily Baxter. The book was adapted for film in 2008. After playing Mary Lane in the "Reefer Madness" stage musical, she was asked to reprise the role in the film version, Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005). Has two corgi-mutts and a black Labrador, who is 11 years old and rescued from Hurricane Katrina. Has a "lazy eye" (her right eye) due to strabismus. Personal Quotes "Something magical happened when I turned 25 - I looked in the mirror and was like, "You might not get carded for an R-rated movie anymore."" "I've got more junk in the trunk than most 5-foot-1 blonde girls, and I like it." (On being cast in Heroes) "It is all part of my plan for world domination – and by world, I mean Fanboy World." (On if she is as gutsy Veronica Mars) "I don't think I have the stomach Veronica has. I think I have the determination and the stubbornness and a little bit of the go-get-em. But I think I'm about 20 percent more girl than Veronica is. There's a lot of Veronica that hits home with me, the sort of feisty area. But I think that I have a little bit more girl. I'd scream my head off if I saw a body in the freezer." "I'm not in the business of becoming famous. And that's the advice I give to younger aspiring actors. Work onstage and do the little roles. In the end it's not important to be seen. It's important to do. There's a lot of disappointment in this business, but my family keeps me grounded." "I'm an awful driver. I'm not going to lie about it. I'm not a good driver. I tried for a long time to pretend that I was. There's a lot of road rage and a lot of times it's directed at something I've done on the road." (On horror movies) "I get really scared. Like when the lights are out, I am kind of a wuss." "I'm not recognized very often, and if I am, it's a die-hard Veronica Mars fan. Which is usually flattering and an honor. I really try not to think about it."
