personality evaluated.
for someone whose career revolves around being in the spotlight, charlotte would honestly be happy to blend into the background and life a relatively unexciting life. she's quite quaint and would class a happy life with a family as more successful than becoming an a-list celebrity. she does, however, love her career and acting is a passion of hers - just not the drama that surrounds it. the main reason that she chose this career is as a means of satisfying her strong desire to become a role model. this is not to say, however, that she is an angel. she is kind and generous where she can be and she isn't one to get into an argument or fight if she can at all help it, but she is also extremely irritable, defensive and prone to jealously. she is jealous, however, not usually of fame or money, but of those that manage to attain work/love life balances, have the happy family that she desires - that kind of thing.
romance is important to her, but unfortunately is something that she has now failed at several times. she cheated during her first serious relationship, believes she somehow messed up those that followed and drove away her husband due to her closed-off nature. put simply, she is a sweetheart to those she does not very well and usually those who she is close to, also - but she won't let anyone get too close. once that happens she is snarky and begins to worry far too much, or laugh things off. she doesn't mean to and she'd like to work hard to change this, because settling down is something that she's desperate to do. the single life is not at all for her and nor are the constant parties. she attends the occasional ones, but as it is, movies and board games are more her scene than bars or nightclubs.
she is quite the joker and rather predictably often uses humor as her defense mechanism, or to ward off questions that hit too close to home. she finds it a little hard to get along with people that can't take a joke, just as she has trouble connecting with anyone that takes themselves too seriously. she is more fond of people who are, like her, more down-to-earth and possibly family orientated. then again, there are always exceptions. sometimes, she becomes far too lazy or too unmotivated and longs for someone to bring her out of her cocoon. she isn't shy, as such, but nor is she the loud, social butterfly or party animal. she's confident, polite and does enjoy making friends, but she's not one to socialise just for the sake of it. she is, above all, genuine and refuses to portray herself as anything but exactly what she is. even if that means that she loses points for comments she makes about anyone, or for not leading and 'exciting' enough life. at least that way she knows that these things are happening because of the way she is, not the way anyone else has decided she might be.

charlotte was the third child to be born in her family, coming after one sibling of each gender. they were a relatively happy bunch, living on the outskirts of new york city and leading a life that was quite drama-free. her father was a policeman and her mother a costume designer, so naturally the children spent much of their time being models for the costumes that would be created for the children in the drama club that their mother was actively involved in. as she progressed through school it didn't take long for charlotte to realise that she herself actually enjoyed the idea of being on the stage, so after accompanying her mother to a few rehearsals, she decided to give it a shot. it wasn't something she was overly passionate about - she didn't take it so seriously that she cried when she didn't get lead roles in school plays, or anything. she just enjoyed it. she was actually more of a writer and had funny creating deep characters and analysing the hell of them, on her own terms, not under a director. she wanted to tell her own stories.
as she reached the higher years of high school, charlie found that unlike most of her friends, she wasn't only noticing feelings for the males around her, but also the females. it was a very confusing time but after about a year of struggling with it, she came to terms with the fact that she was bisexual. she wouldn't, however, go on to come out to her family several years later. she had her first serious relationship during junior and senior year and threw herself head first into the whole thing. her boyfriend at the time was her best friend, who she had had a small crush on for several years, so when they got together she was ecstatic. she thought it would last - the situation seemed perfect, but after two years of dating, they had begun to grow apart. she was losing interest in the whole thing and felt guilty constantly but continued to drift, until she drifted into the arms of a close female friend, with whom she promptly slept with. she had not yet had sex with her boyfriend, so she felt even worse about what she'd done, and it got to the point where she realised that she respected him too much to string him along any longer. she told him about what had happened and the two of them broke up. she has never forgotten.
once she got to college, charlotte realised that while writing was fun, it could actually be just as good to analyse characters written by other people and in her sophomore year her girlfriend of the time got her into acting again. she began taking part in college productions and joined a local theatre company. her mother was ecstatic about her new-found enthusiasm for acting and encouraged her along this path until writing became charlie's hobby and acting more of a passion. she graduated from college, split with the girlfriend that had gotten her into it and continued doing theatre. it was around this time that she also joined a mentoring program attached to a local primary school and realised how great it felt to be someone that kids looked up to. this only fueled her own desire to have children and made her realise that a role model would be an excellent thing to be. after doing some local productions she began another romance with one of her stage managers and after a year and a half of dating went on to marry him. they worked well for awhile, but about two years into the marriage her father died of a massive stroke, putting a lot of tension between them. she became even more guarded than usual, driving him to end the marriage because the connection was basically gone.
as she got to the later stages of her mid-twenties, charlotte realised that she really needed to do more with her time than just theatre. she approached her mother who hooked her up with some low-key contacts that she knew and from there, charlie scored some small film roles. she realised that working in film was something that she really enjoyed and the change from the theatre was a welcome one. she began attending auditions for any films or television shows that she could, no matter how small and has been taking these small roles ever since. since breaking into hollywood, however, she has realised that she doesn't want to play these small roles forever, she'd much rather become somebody, so that she can do the cliched thing and try to make a difference. she's actually very keen on landing a role in a popular tv show, so that she has a regular character to play that she can really get into.

Recently, Max's life had been filled with so many twists and turns that he could hardly keep up with it anymore. Of course, the meaning of recently had to be stretched to incorporate the last year or so, because the last time anything much had actually happened to him had been around the time that he broke up with Stevie. No, actually, that was a lie. Things had happened since then, but... he'd been in a strange, strange state. When they'd been together, he thought that it hadn't felt right, that he couldn't love her like she wanted. That she deserved someone better, that could give themself to her entirely, without reservations. He knew that it had taken her a long time to let him in and it had taken him longer than he'd expected. Never would he know why it had been so hard to do it - sure, the only other relationship he'd had hadn't gone wonderfully, but that couldn't be it. He didn't care about that anymore. That was ancient history. Now, all he cared about what the fact that he'd managed to screw this one up too.
He should have expected that Stevie would move on. He'd expected himself to move on too. He'd spent hours feeling guilty about how quickly he had expected to move on. Just like he' d felt horribly guilty about the fact that throughout some of his relationship with Stevie, he'd known that he would always wonder what it would be like to be with Keeks. She had been his best friend and they'd almost been together before him and Stevie were - it had been natural to wonder, right? Some fucking best friend she turned out to be. He'd chucked in everything and she'd just gone and chucked him in, disappearing without a trace. Worst thing was, he didn't even miss her that much. If she'd been the one he had wanted, why the hell was it Stevie he missed and not her? Why did he spend so much time worrying now that he hadn't seen Stevie in ages, or that their damn kitten was starting to like another guy more? Yoshi meant so much to Max and he'd moved on too. He was just like a child. Too damn fickle.
Now, with all this shit still going on in his mind, here was Max, outside Stevie's door. He'd accepted the fact that he'd missed his chance, he'd screwed up and now she was gonna be with Mike. He deserved that. He was a good guy and he seemed to treat her well, from what he could see. But he needed to see her. He missed her, more than he had ever realised he would. He'd missed her friendship and their stupid nights together. The way she bossed him around without even trying that hard. That bit was probably because he was a damn pushover and was easy as all hell to boss around, but she did it in her own special way. He just... missed everything. He wanted to be there for her and he had said he would be, but he was slacking off. She hadn't let him at first and now he just didn't know where he fitted in. Anyway, it didn't matter. He'd promised to come visit and here he was. Here to see his kittenkid and the friend he missed. Curling his hand into a fist, he knocked on her door. "Steeeevie? It's Max. As nice as the cold is, I have to come in quickly and convince our kitten that I'm the coolest guy ever."
