quirks. kat has certain mannerisms that people comment on that make her quirky. for example, when she's confused or thinking very hard about something, she cocks her head to the side like a puppy. she always carries a black pen, a pencil and a crayon somewhere in her purse in case she needs them (she never really has, but she is prepared!). and many nights when she can't sleep, she goes for walks. it isn't the safest thing to do, go walking through hollywood at three in the morning, but it helps to clear her mind so she can sleep.
aspirations. kat hopes to one day become a very notable actress, and see her name on at least one billboard. she wants to use her fame and money to start a charity to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving and substance abuse. and deep down, she wants to get married and start a family. maybe.
secrets. her father was killed in a car accident when she was seven by a drunk driver. and her brother is currently addicted to cocaine, but they have to keep it quiet so the press doesn't find out.

kat is, most importantly, very bright. she's intelligent and a quick witted person, and tends to have a sharp tongue when it comes to insults. she has no problem with discussing quantum physics with someone or having a debate on the issue of global warming. she is a natural born orator and is a gifted speaker. when it comes to humor, she tends to be very sarcastic and dry, using self-deprecation and gentle insults as her weapon of choice. in arguments, she can easily blow someone away with her quick thinking and smart words. if she so chose to, kat could be a vicious and backstabbing person, because she is very empathetic. she knows what makes people tick, and has a good eye for when something is wrong. she has the keen ability to put herself in another person's place. having said that, it would be quite easy for her to be conniving, and hit people where it really hurt them.
however, katalina is not that kind of person. if anything, she is the complete opposite. she's very sensitive to other people's feelings and is an all-around nice person. she is sweet and loving, and caring towards her friends. a friend till the end, kat is loyal to those she calls her friends or family. it's greek culture to put family first, and this is why she sticks by her brother, alex's side all the time. although she's a compassionate being, kat has trouble talking of her own problems and shortcomings. if someone were to ask her if something was wrong, kat would simply shrug it off and say no, even if she were lying. it is a rare occurrence when kat feels comfortable talking about her personal life, and while she'll listen all day to another person's problems and give them advice, she will not talk about her own.
kat tends to be cold sometimes, when someone has wronged her or betrayed her. she will never resort to violence, but her glare can send chills down one's spine. people have told her that the silent treatment she's given them before is more piercing and more hurtful than any words could have been, and it's safe to say that people try not to get on her bad side. kat can also be quite naive when it comes to certain things. she is a virgin, quite untainted by the rest of the world. she's only ever been drunk once before, and has never tried any kind of drug. she's often named a prude for these things and for blowing off parties to stay at home, but she simply doesn't feel like she needs those things in her life. when it comes to the people she cares about, she tends to chide them for doing those things, and this becomes quite annoying after a while.

katalina isabelle, a healthy baby girl was born to andrei and anastasia stevenson on september 23rd in greece, their homeland. both of her parents were born and bred greeks, and it's still where most of their family resides. at a very young age, kat showed much talent in acting, and it was pressed forth by her dad. andrei made sure kat read a new set of lines for at least thirty minutes a day as a child. now, as an adult, kat is very thankful for him doing this, but to a child, sitting around, reading and practicing was nothing short of torture when she could be outside playing with her friends. starring in many of her elementary school's plays, kat showed much talent in front of a crowd, with a natural knack for speaking. when katalina was six years old, she starred as dorothy in her school's production of the wizard of oz. after being given a standing ovation by the small crowd in the cafeteria, her father took her out for ice cream. the celebration was cut short, however, when a drunk driving slammed into the side of their car. her brother, alex, was there with her in the hospital as they waited for the doctor to give the news. kat still wore her dorothy costume and her mother sat next to her, crying silently. when the doctor came out and told them the news, and what had happened and why, katalina isabelle decided from that moment that she would never be like that person who'd killed her father--drunk and unaware. she was turned off to alcohol from then on.
but because she still had such a love and a talent for acting, kat's uncle giovanni (affectionately named joo-joo) encouraged them to move to america where he'd also gotten a big break. he told them stories about how hollywood was glamorous and wonderful, and amelie soon packed up her son and daughter and moved them to america. living in a small town in california was nice, and the small family spent many summers at the beach enjoying each other's company. when alex reached middle school, he found a love of art and creating things. amy was proud that both of her children had a love of the arts, and sent them to a small school with prospering art and drama departments. the brother and sister grew closer and closer over the years, bonding over their talents. they both graduated near the top of their classes and with many accomplishments under their belts--alex had received an award for being an aspiring artist and most creative, and kat had starred as the lead role in a number of school productions.
when alex was twenty-three and kat twenty, the two decided that moving to hollywood would be their best bet. after all, that's where dreams came true, wasn't it? alex dreamed of owning his own art gallery and museum and kat dreamed of fame and starring in big shot films. they rented an apartment together and made their way into show business. one night, after a particularly eventful movie premiere that they'd been cordially invited to, kat came home to find alex lying on the bathroom floor. his eyes were rolling back and he seemed to be foaming at the mouth; kat didn't know what to do. after seeing a little baggie laced with white powder, kat put the pieces together. after calling an ambulance, kat threw away all traces of the cocaine and cleaned alex off so it would seem he was just having a seizure. it was then that she learned her brother was battling a cocaine addiction, and for many nights after that, kat sat with alex, taking care of him in his stupors. it was like she was seven years old all over again, clinging to her father for dear life. she wasn't going to lose alex like she lost her dad, and she would be damned if she let him (or herself, for that matter) end up overdosed and dead.
