To be honest, it felt great to be working again. For Kate it had been a few months since she'd been on set for a movie. Last time she was on set for something at all was a few weeks ago when she filmed for a guest appearance on a long-running medical drama. There wasn't anything spectacular there, except for the fact that that episode was airing on television this week. Too bad Kate was going to be too busy filming to be able to see it. It was the first week of filming and today they had chosen to film a scene that Kate was fortunate to be a part of. Private Cassie Forbes was the name of her character - early twenties, college drop-out, rebelled against her parents only to join the army. There wasn't much else to the character considering this wasn't a lead role, which Kate loved because it meant she could have more freedom in playing a character that didn't have much screen time.

The past hour was spent standing behind the leading cast, holding a rifle up and looking around "Washington D.C." cautiously as they hunted down the terrorists. No, Cassie wasn't going to die yet, that was planned for when they were to go to Morocco. Kate spent that last hour trying not to complain - standing behind the "leading" cast was the very thing that she resented about blockbuster and mainstream films, she hated the hierarchy that was clearly visible here. She wanted point her rifle at one of the A-listers' heads, but unfortunately she'd be looked down upon by most of the cast and crew. When the director finally yelled out "cut", it was indicated that Kate and a few others weren't needed for anymore scenes at least for a few hours. She could take a breather now, go back to her trailer, put her feet up and rest before going back into action. An assistant handed Kate a bottle of water in which she swapped it for the rifle in her hands and took a few sips of water before walking off the set. Arriving at her trailer, she grabbed her cell phone from inside before sitting on the steps outside, finding a way to pass time.

It was his first serious role, and he was still kind of stunned that he had even gotten the part. Ever since transitioning into film, Cameron had played only teen movie roles as the underprivileged African-American sweetheart or the poor black kid who could dance. Typical, yes? As much as he loved dancing, he had been waiting for a long time to be taken seriously as an actor. After all, what exactly was the point of his music and dancing taking a backseat to something if he wasn't going to be taken seriously doing it? He thought he was stuck in a vicious cycle until his agent came to him with a great idea, an action movie. Hell, if Tyrese could do it, why couldn't Cameron? Sure, Six Lives was no Transformers but maybe it could be? Or maybe it could begin the transition Cam had been longing for: from Channing Tatum to Morgan Freeman. Okay, well maybe not that serious, but you catch the drift.

The audition process had, naturally, been the most stressful part. But when Cameron was cast as the leading male role in the film, not the minor background part he expected, he was both pleasantly surprised and completely nervous. He realized, at this point, that it was do or die. If he couldn't cut it, the entire movie would suffer as well as his career. It was nerve-wracking. So he had spent the past three months preparing. His script became his right hand and in his mind he had been Staff Sergeant Jake Gillespie for the past few months. He had learned to embrace the character and had given him subtle nuances that were not written in the script but that he found enhanced the character (a character which, Cam was certain, had actually been written to be played by a Caucasian actor). When he walked on set the first day, he was confident he would be able to portray the character just fine. After all, he had even spent twice as much time in the gym as usual (though he almost lived in the gym already) to bulk up and put on the extra 15 pounds of muscle weight required for the role.

Acting, however, was no joke. At least not serious acting. Not only was there physical demands of filming a military style action movie, but memorizing lines, delivering them perfectly, and trying to keep a straight face during the few comedic moments were all bearing down on Cameron. However, he was enjoying the hell out of himself and finally realizing he was definitely an actor. Exhausting as it was, he had come to love being on set very much.

Today, he had some down time as they were filming a scene that did not contain him. He walked around set as he usually did, shirtless because it was hot (not because he was arrogant) and half in his costume in case they need him. A pair of camo shorts sagged off his hips, revealing red basketball shorts beneath from the pickup game he had been playing with some of the dudes on set during break. A pair of broken in Timberlands thudded on the ground as he walked around set aimlessly, the laces trailing the ground behind him. He spotted Kate sitting on the steps. He didn't know her well, in fact he didn't even know her name, but he had seen her on set and decided that maybe he had the guts to go say hi to a pretty girl, for once.

He walked over, slowly, his natural swagger showing through his walk but not in the way that anyone would mistake it for cockiness. He took a seat next to her, "Hey...you're Kate, right?" He asked, hoping his nervousness didn't show in his voice. Cameron had never been good at talking to girls, even when it was just a platonic conversation such as he intended this one to be, and it seemed that fame had not helped him in that vein at all.

it sucked having a best friend working all the way in new york. she stared at her cell phone aimlessly, at the picture of her and jules in the cold at the sundance film festival last year. it was freezing and they had spent the whole day roaming around salt lake city but nonetheless, they had the time of their lives having to work together - filming and promoting a small budget movie. the girls were keen to once again star in another film together, even pitching the idea with jack bailey also starring... considering he had the contacts to make their dreams a reality. that was one of the perks of being somewhat friends with an a-lister, and although Kate felt it was against her own morals to use an a-lister to get ahead (she preferred to do it her own way), this was an idea she couldn't pass up. plus she was getting amusement out of using jack bailey who was basically a lady pleaser.

back to her. so kate fumbled her fingers around the keys of her phone, flipping through her picture gallery full of old pictures of her, jules, kat and chelsea. it'd actually been a while since the four of them were all in the same place at the same time. it was just that these days work seemed to pile up on all of them and ultimately they were found on different sides of the country. at the moment though, the only one "far away" was jules in new york, but soon kate herself was going to be the furtherest away being in morocco and all. ah, morocco. the girl had never been out of the continent to film a movie ever. sure, she'd studied overseas in her youth - england to be exact - but it wasn't as exotic as a place like morocco. morocco! only a big ass film and a producer who had taste for blockbuster movies would choose to film somewhere as awesome as morocco. was this usually expected of a big budget film?

kate herself had never been in movies that were expected to have oscar nominations. films like avatar, or the blind side were usually not something she'd sign up for. she hated the publicity and star power that would ultimately come around from being in a hit movie. hence why she agreed to accepting this minor role. hell, she didn't even want to audition for it in the first place but she knew she wasn't doing anything for the next few months and she'd die of boredom. plus where else was she going to get her income from? whatever the case, the indie film actress was now here amongst the big guns of the entertainment industry. jack bailey, cameron adelaide, natalie delaney and the like. she hadn't really gotten used to filming with such a big family, but already she'd made two friends, maybe she could do with more - more probably from the crew considering the actors were... eh.

she looked up to the sky, wondering when in the world this day would be over. as her eyes glanced up she spotted a familiar figure making his way towards her. it didn't take her long to distinguish his face although they'd only been very few scenes together. despite that, she'd always see his face on a billboard standing on sunset boulevard as she drove to work everyday. now he was walking towards her. she gave him a small smile, usually not someone who'd she want to interact with - being an a-lister and all - but she knew he wasn't like the rest of the guys on set, aka, jack bailey. no, this a-lister was actually sweet, nice, polite, and someone whom she thought was too good to belong with the usually scandalous-ridden group. she shifted over to make room on the seat. he greeted her, enquiring whether her name was kate. all she could do nod in response, "sure am." she said, fidgeting with her phone in her hand. good lord, the billboard guy was actually talking to her, "cameron adelaide, right?" she asked then continued, "my brother's a big fan of yours." that was true. her twenty-six year old brother greg was a dancer like cameron, often expressing to kate how much he admired the a-lister. to be honest, kate had heard enough of it, not even telling her brother that she was here on a movie set sitting right next to the a-lister.

Cameron was in completely uncharted territory; territory he never imagined he would even see from afar. Acting had been his dream since his youth, though it had always taken a backseat to the more plausible dancing and music careers ahead of him; and now it was all becoming a reality. He was not used to cameras following him around wherever he went, both on set and off. Paparazzi had never given him any sort of time or effort before, even though he had been relatively well known as a dancer. And even when he was at the height of his singing/rap career, he had been left alone because he was a "boring" subject. He didn't drink, he didn't party. In fact, he didn't do anything back in those days except hang out with Blake and rehearse. That was nothing to report in magazines.

But now, apparently, Cameron was a big deal. Or perhaps he just had never noticed that he was sort of a big deal before as well. But when he opened up magazines these days, he saw his name and photos of him during filming, or during his downtime. And, though it had only happened once, he managed to find himself in a created love triangle between two fellow actors he had met only briefly. Such things bothered him slightly, as he never did anything even remotely related to relationships, and he would never dream of trying to break people up or stand in the way of two people being together. But this was the sort of thing that came hand in hand with fame, apparently, and Cameron could not have a career without the gossip. He didn't embrace it by any means, but he certainly didn't make any overwhelming efforts to quell the rumor mill. But he would if things got too out of hand, he couldn't have little boys all over the world looking up to him and hearing this trash spread about.

Cameron had never understood the ideological rift that seemed to exist between people dubbed "a-listers" such as himself and the "indie" folks such as Kate. He understood, of course, that projects they worked on were bound to differ greatly but he had noticed a great deal of separation on set of the people in these two groups. But to him, people were people, and he was going to talk to whomever he please.

He was hard-pressed to hide how surprised and taken aback he was by the fact that Kate not only knew him by name, first and last, but also that she claimed her brother was a fan of his. He was unaware that he had done anything remotely worthy of fans, but then again he was an extremely humble individual. "Yeah...wow...a fan? That's incredible."

[/color] He managed to declare, though regretting it immediately because he sounded like such an idiot. "Mind if I sit?"[/color] He asked, ever the gentleman as he awaited her permission.
