there wasn't much about this new project that kat didn't like. she got to work with people she liked, she loved the story line, and she was playing a character that was out of her ordinary circle. typically, kat played the damsel in distress or the headstrong woman who was secretly lonely. bo-ring. now, she was playing a sporty older sister, slaying vampires. it was pretty cool, and filming was already going really well. today, they were filming a scene with just her and her fellow costar, vince gambino. he was playing an evil vampire minion whose job it was to seduce kayla (kat's character) in order to get to the main character and stop him from slaying the vampire leader, laurent. see? awesome. kat was excited, just because any sort of romance scenes she'd ever filmed were of her character finally admitting she cared about someone, or a guy confessing his undying love to her character after bottling it inside for so many years. but now, she was filming a scene where her character and vince's character met in an abandoned building and he tried to seduce her. it was an exciting change of pace for kat, and she was up for the challenge.

once she was finished with hair and makeup (which coincidentally didn't take very long because her character was pretty low key) kat got ready to get on set. she wore a sports bra, a tank top, running shoes, and a track outfit--something you'd typically take a jog in. the setting was supposed to be the middle of the night and kat's character was supposed to be feeling chilly, so kat tried to think in that mindset. cold, ice, snow, wind. she was supposed to look like she'd just come to a very secret meeting, so she thought in that mindset as well. sneaky, under the radar, suspicious. someone motioned to her to get on the set and kat nodded, already in character. she stood outside the large building they were to enter for the scene and waited for her cue. "and, action!" the director called. pulling up her hood and looking around a few times, kat slowly pushed open the heavy door to the building. the cameras followed her as she stepped into a vast, empty room. there was dust and cobwebs everywhere and it really did look like it had been abandoned for upwards of fifty years.

it was here that she encountered vince (or in this case, at this moment, carter). keeping her distance, as the script had instructed, kat kept her guard up, her knees bent slightly, as if she was about to make a run for it. the cameras panned the two, circling them and showing every angle of the scene. "carter," she stated in a hushed voice. "what did you bring me here for?" she narrowed her hazel eyes slightly and began to circle him, the cameras following her movement. vince of course, hadn't said anything up to this point because his character was smooth and always carefully calculated his words. he was looking smooth, as well, but that might have just been the hair and makeup. her character was supposed to always be on guard, and always be suspicious, but also have a very strong attraction to carter as well. she was supposed to feel torn between what was good and right (trying to slay him) and her desire for him. it was an exciting frame of mind to get into, and she was glad she'd taken this part.

finally he was in canada and finally he was doing a movie he actually enjoyed. vince was always into the whole supernatural and made a promise to himself that he would do a television show or a film that had something to do with that area. and when his agent told him about slayer by night, it was only natural that he jumped on the band wagon. a plus to it was that cash, the guy whom he just found out was his brother, was also staring in the movie. only cash's character was boring old human kid who didn't want any part in the vampire slaying business. even though that was the lead role when vince auditioned, he only audtioned for carter's part - so it was either carter or no one. luckily he got it and he was quite sure it had something to do with his good looks. call him vain or whatever else you think but vince was hot and so was carter and vince knew how to charm the ladies - so that was a bonus. so here he was sitting in his chair, getting final touches done on his make-up; which was something he'd been use to. being a model for about five or six years, you get used to getting make-up applied to your face and anywhere else they might see fit.

vince had had his fangs in all day, he was trying to get a feel for them and plus he just enjoyed the way they looked on him. creeper? no, not in the slightest but a vampire fan...yes! secretly of course. he had to say though, that he was looking quite stylish throughout the entire time he would be in the film. suits were carter's thing, three piece suits, double or triple breasted suits, trouser suits - any suit you could think of and he tried it on. right now he had his favorite suit in the whole collection, dolce & gabbana; three piece, single breasted suit. one thing people didn't know about vince was that ever since he first started modeling, he had become a fashion whore. and when vince wanted to look good, he would go to his closet and literally come out looking like he walked straight off the runway. he ran his hands up and down his legs, feeling the softness because his pants were suede and..yea. we're ready for him he glanced over towards the door and nodded as they put the finishing touches on him. it wasn't long before he was up and heading towards where they were shooting.

kat stevenson was a very cool and laid back girl and vince really enjoyed her company. no wonder she was an a-lister because she was really good at it and was very believable. he got to his position at the middle of the abandon warehouse and before he knew it he was going into his acting mode. carter was a charmer and a very smooth guy who often left you guessing about his motives. graceful and being confident was the key and goal he was shooting for. placing his left hand in his pocket and letting his right rub at the bottom of his chin, he made it seem like he was thinking about what to say. though of course he knew his lines like the back of his hand. and, action! he heard the director say and he stayed in that position as he heard kayla (kat) speak. carter...what did you bring me here for? a sly smirk came across his face as his eyes narrowed at the ground while he dropped his hand from his face. "oh, i think you know" he drawled out seductively as he looked over at her with a facial expression to match. it wasn't long before he began to track her every moment as if she were his prey...well actually, she was in this circumstance. "you look a little tense..you don't trust me?" he asked, even though he already knew the answer.

kat was already losing herself in her character. it was a cool feeling, to basically flip a switch in her mind and become a different person. it came with time and practice but kat was getting pretty good at assuming different personalities...which might be why she was so good at lying. she didn't lie often, but when she did she could be quite believable. she used this to her advantage because no one ever questioned her credibility or her judgment. and it was nice to be believed. there was nothing worse to kat than a person who couldn't make their performance believable, whether it was someone who was just telling a lie or an actor with no skill. it was painful, really, to watch someone who couldn't convince themselves, much less the audience, that they were who the script said they were and kat was glad she didn't fall into that category and hadn't for a while. ever since she'd assumed a-list status, it had been pie. fame came easily and recognition easier. aside from all the boring and uninteresting people she had to associate with, the fame was not something she could or ever would complain about.

when kat was acting, she felt that it was necessary that her outfit reflected the character and the setting. if it didn't quite work, she would probably say something and suggest an outfit that made her feel more ready to adapt into the character. in this case, her track suit was perfect. kayla was sporty, she was supposed to have just gone "for a jog," as she'd told her brother (cash's character). and to be honest, it wasn't very hard for kat to pretend that she was getting goosebumps, because the building was air conditioned and slightly windy, and kat could feel the hairs on the back of her neck standing up. well, one mission accomplished. kat stopped circling as vince began to approach her, as if she'd been struck by something. this was about the time that carter would be using his telepathic powers to make kayla "hot and bothered" as someone on the writing team had put it. taking a shaky breath and giving vince a slow up-and-down look, kat let her eyes go hazy for a moment as she pretended to imagine what carter might be talking about when he said "oh, i think you know." for a girl of her age and considering the circumstances, it wasn't difficult. vince was attractive, doubly attractive because of the dolce and gabbana suit that he was sporting at the moment.

being able to snap right out of the desire-ridden gaze kat had just been wearing, she immediately put her guard up again and shook her head. "why should i?" she said quietly, defiantly. taking a step forward toward vince, she cautiously balled her hands into fists, still trying to size him up. kat could feel a gust of wind from the air conditioner and from the fan they had going to make the setting more authentic and let out a shiver. this was good, because she would be able to play it off like carter was just using his powers on her again. this was the perfect opportunity for kat to start backing herself into a corner. she began to move backward, trying not to make eye contact with vince like she was suppressing some kind of hidden desire (which she was supposed to be doing). "stop," she said quietly, doing her best not to turn away. it was a bad idea to turn your back on a vampire, and it wasn't written into the script anyway. but the acting was getting more intense and very convincing.

his mother always told him that acting was just basically lying, that actors were professional liars and that he was perfect for it. his mother was always the one to be truthful and honest with him, even if he didn't like it. which would also explain why he was the same way with people and was also considered as an asshole. it didn't really bother him being deemed as an asshole because the only people whoever called him that were the people who didn't know him personally. he really was just a goofy and dorky kid who always enjoyed laughing and making other people laugh. it was in his nature to do so, plus he loved rambling in italian just so he could see the looks on everyone else's faces. but now wasn't the time for that, he had to focus on trying to sex up kayla and get her hot and bothered. which with the air circulating in hear wasn't going to be hard at all because she was shivering all over. he thanked the gods he had this suit on otherwise he would've probably died already. it wasn't hard for him to try and be this sexy and charming vampire, half the time he walked around as if he was charming and sexy and it worked...sometimes.

dolce & gabbana were probably his favorite designers, right along with heatherette and armani. he had did countless runway shows for d&g and it wasn't the first time he had worn that suit. well it probably wasn't the exact suit but you get my meaning about the situation. carter was falsely attracted to kayla and the only reason he was standing in this very spot right now was because his leader, laurent, told him to do so. though kayla was very headstrong so it took carter a bit more power to try and win her over and so far it had seemed to be working. seemed to be, that is. why should she? um, because he told her to, that's why. as she held her fists up at him, he couldn't help but let out a low chuckle. he had to admit that she was really cute if she thought she had a chance against him. "are you really gonna play this game with yourself" he cooed as he began to slowly take steps towards her. it was probably around the time when he was, once again, usuing his telepathic powers against her.

stop, of course she wanted him to stop but he didn't like taking orders from anyone but laurent. he continued to walk towards her until all there was behind her was a wall. "is that really what you want me to do" he asked, rhetorically of course as he continued to walk towards her. he placed his hands on either side of her face, his thumb beginning to gently rub in tiny circles against her cheek. this was definitely not in the script, this was all improv at this point. the director didn't say stop so he just continued with what he was doing. he tilted his head to the side as his eyes stared at various spots on her face. "you're fighting what you really want to do" he said just above a whisper. he purposely leaned his body against hers as his face slowly leaned in towards hers. his lips parted as every once in a while as his eyes locked on her neck but he had to do something to keep himself from her neck. it was then that he pressed his lips against hers, for a 'passionate' kiss that was nowhere in the script. what the hell was he doing right now?

kat wasn't one to go strictly by the script all the time. she liked to improvise and add things she thought would be good additions to the scene. of course, every actor could bring something to the table and if the director didn't like it, then they'd do another take. but it was always accepted for an actor to put his or her own spin on things, to spice things up and make them more original and fitting to their own acting style. kat didn't add a whole lot of improvisation to movies or shows that she was unfamiliar with, like vampire plots. had this been a romantic comedy, a drama, or even a downright horror film, kat would be able to put her own twist on things and add emotion and depth to her character that weren't necessarily written into the script. however, this was a new project, something completely foreign to her. the only vampire movies she'd ever really watched were salem's lot and van helsing. she wasn't able to improvise because she'd never dealt with characters like the ones they were portraying at the moment. though, vince seemed perfect comfortable and that was giving kat a boost of confidence and making it easier to adapt.

vince spoke again, moving towards her. everything was going according to the script thus far. he was doing a fantastic job of using his voice to make his character more believable. vince had a way with making his words sound velvety smooth, and she could definitely see why they'd cast him for this part, though she figured he could have easily gotten the role of the lead vampire too. he spoke again, backing her up against the wall. it was all going very well, and she was proud they hadn't had to do another take in between to fix a line or a camera angle. the chemistry on set was so dynamic she could almost touch it, and she was even more appreciative that he'd been cast for this part. not many men could pull this off, going through an entire scene without the director shouting 'cut!' because they'd screwed up. vince placed his hands on either side of her face. they were warm, and kat's lips parted to let out a shaky, indecisive breath as he examined her closely. she put on a nervous face, like she was fighting something, and again tried not to make eye contact. her hands unclenched to press her palms against the wall behind her, as if somehow she could press through the wall and escape.

again, he spoke, saying his final line before he was supposed to make some kind of sketchy advance on her. when she glanced at it, it had said something like "caresses kayla." something very low key but sensual that the audience would interpret as being very hard to resist. he pressed his body against hers and she tried to speak, but instead let out a gasp like she was afraid he was going to bite her by the way he was staring at her neck. it was then that vince kissed her, with a lot more passion than she'd been expecting. she hadn't exactly been expecting a kiss period, but she went with it, still very shocked that he'd made such a bold move. kat let her hazel eyes flutter shut, like she was succumbing to her desires. kat removed her hands from their place pressed on the wall and put them on vince's chest, as if she was about to push him away. she wasn't sure whether now would be a good time to push him away and start the fight scene or keep going. they were originally supposed to milk it, what with the caressing and making her all hot and bothered. however, now that they were fully fledged making out, she might as well milk it as best she could.

instead of pushing vince away, she pulled him closer, now kissing him back with just as much passion and intensity, if not more to indicate that she was getting very worked up over whatever mind powers he was using on her. part of it may have been her slight attraction to vince himself, but for the most part, she could keep her mind clear of that and focus on staying in character. if she let herself go too much, she would forget to finish the scene and just stand here to kiss him, and she wasn't being paid big bucks to make out with her costar was she? well, she was. but not out of character.

he never discovered acting on his own, he was pulled into it by just simply walking down the street. sure he did commercials but that was for modeling and never for acting seriously. this wasn't his first film but this had to be his first film with a-list stars and he never thought that he would be at this point so soon. and now here he was, kissing one of them right now. katalina stevenson. way to go vince, make out with your fellow co-star, that would for sure give you the publicity you wanted. except not really, he didn't mean to kiss her - it just happened. a part of him wanted to believe that he was kissing nicolette or some other girl that he usually went after, but no, here he was kissing kat. the kiss wasn't suppose to be this passionate because, well he barely knew kat. he felt though, that if he had just kissed her - it wouldn't have seemed believable so, he just went for it. blindly of course. cut the fucking film already, he thought as he continued to kiss her. he was about to pull away when he felt kat pull his body closer, if he could get any closer that is.

so obviously he was doing something right if she wanted the kiss to continue and went along with it. she could've just as easily pushed him away when he first kissed because that wasn't in the script. as the kiss continued he realized that the director wasn't going to stop it anytime soon and that he had to stop it himself, otherwise this would've turned into some kind of porno. not really, he was over-reacting but still...just yeah. his face contorted into a pained expression, a low groan vibrating from his throat as he forced himself away. "carter" was fighting his "hunger" feeling apparently - apparently that was in the script cause right now his mind was also wrapped around the fact that he just made out with kat - for no reason. his ice blue eyes, that strangely resembled the same contacts that the vampires wore in the underworld series; glared at kayla's throat while he continued to breath heavily. closing his eyes, he inhaled deeply as he tried to control himself and he did. he opened them once more and smirked mischievously in her direction, as if he had been his plan all along to prove to kat's character that she did want him as much as he supposedly wanted her.

and, cut!, he heard the director say, as well as a few instigating "oh's and ah's" from fellow cast and crew members. he laughed nervously as he rubbed his forhead and turned to look over at kat with an apologetic smile. "sorry.." he exclaimed quietly as he dipped his head, a somewhat slight bow as he apologized. reaching down to grab her hand with his, he kissed it gently before he turned on his heel and headed towards the director. the boy needed to get away from kat before he embarrassed himself even more around her. after discussing with the director for a bit, getting praised for his little stunt he walked over to the table of refreshments and grabbed a bottle of water. sure it was cold on set but he was burning up like he had been walking in the sahara desert. it wasn't long before another camera was shoved infront of his face but it was for a magazine. "hey, i'm corey corozzo and you're on the set of slayer by night" he answered with a quick wink before he chuckled. the boy answered a few questions before he could sneak away and finally he was left alone at the table, drinking his water.

romance/sex scenes came with a certain amount of baggage attached to them. kat had to learn to become completely indifferent to who the person on the other side of her lips were, she had to learn to lie to herself so well that she really forgot who she was, who the other person was, and could convince herself that they were who the script said they were. when they were actually acting, it was easier to keep herself aware that she was acting, but not in a romance scene. to make a love scene as believable as possible, she immersed herself in the character. but right now...she couldn't help but realize that she wasn't completely and totally kayla sommers, kissing carter the vampire. she was aware that she was kat stevenson, kissing vince gambino. but for some reason, it was still believable to her. that really did have to do with her attraction to him. she was lucky for that--had she not been completely convinced of her character and she'd been kissing someone she wasn't attracted to, it would show on camera. kat realized that no one was yelling cut, and no one was stopping the scene. they must really have been doing a good job.

when he pulled away, kat returned to acting mode. she watched him as she stared at her neck. leaning her head back inadvertently to give him a better view, kat was breathing heavily. when he looked at her again, he wore a smirk and that was kat's cue to get angry. she'd just been seduced, and she was pissed. she blushed furiously, aware that she'd been tempted and given in, and glared at him violently because she was supposed to be killing him. the director finally shouted 'cut!' and kat's facial expression relaxed into one of wonder. vince had actually had the nerve to kiss her. she was astonished, impressed, happy, confused. normally at this point she would turn to the director and ask for feedback but right now, she kept her eyes focused on vince. amazingly, he apologized to her. reaching for her hand, he kissed it and walked away. at this point, kat was totally perplexed. she stood there, against the wall, simply staring off after him. a couple of the girls from the set approached her, asking girlish questions like "was he a good kisser?" (um, the best.) and "that wasn't written into the script, was it?" (hell no.) and "wow, you're lucky!" (um, yes. duh.)

kat didn't answer these questions, but simply shrugged the girls off and told them she didn't kiss on set and tell, laughing. she looked over to vince and saw him finishing up with a magazine rep, answering questions about the film. she ducked a couple of reps as she made her way over to the refreshment table. typically, she'd grab a peach tea and a wheat bagel, but she wasn't feeling particularly hungry right now. standing next to vince and leaning up against the table, she spoke. "you're a brave one, you know that?" she chuckled. "you don't have to apologize, you know." she wasn't sure how she wasn't going to tell him it was okay. what was she supposed to tell him? don't worry, i happened to very much enjoy kissing you and hope to do it again sometime? picking up a peach tea snapple, she shook it up and popped off the lid. "it wasn't written in but i think it added a lot to the scene. the director was impressed, i know that. and...i didn't mind it that much either." putting the drink to her lips, kat took a sip to conceal the smirk that had just formed on her mouth.
