The last three years had been pretty busy for Tom, who hadn't seemed to stop for the last couple of months. He had been filming a new movie since March, in New York City and Philadelphia and next month was also going to be a hectic one, with the "The A-Team" movie coming out. He'd be travelling around various premieres, press conferences and photo calls, as well as visiting talk shows to do interviews to promote the movie. He couldn't wait to roll up to the Grauman's Chinese Theatre for the Los Angeles premiere though, in an army tank!
So while he could, Tom used his free time to relax and enjoy some down time before having to bet back onto the schedule of travelling, answering the same questions in interviews over and over again, standing in front of cameras at the premieres and any other event, having to look bright-eyed and bushytailed when he felt like crawling into bed and not leaving all day. He woke up late in the morning in his apartment in New York City to a pretty nice day outside. Whenever he was home, he'd take out his two Labrador's for a walk in Central Park. The golden lab was Barnaby and the young chocolate lab was Benny. He took out a pair of jeans and a dark blue tee shirt, put on his Nike sneakers and Ray-Ban wayfarer sunglasses because heading out into NYC.
He'd been talking to someone in real estate earlier in the morning about purchasing a property in Santa Monica, where he fancied living with a place overlooking the beach. It would be a perfect place to spend some time away from the city. He loved visiting Los Angeles, it was a great place with a lot of cool people, he had many friends there and he'd make many more if he spent more time there. That didn't mean he was leaving New York, which was pretty much home to him. But it would be nice to have the option. And with all the recent success he had been having, it wasn't like he couldn't afford it.
Tom was heading to Ferrara Italian Café, a set of two kiosks in Central Park that served some incredibly delicious cakes and pastries, and also light meals that you could eat while sitting out on the chairs and tables set around the kiosks. A foccacia sandwich didn't sound too bad at all. Especially when he planed to follow it with a nice gelato. With a dog leash in each hand, he was pretty much being lead by his dogs through the park which was streaming with people. He took a moment to let Barnaby, the older and more trusted of his two dogs, off of his leash so he could loyally walk by Tom's side.
And the trio arrived at the beautiful green kiosks, which were surrounded by green chairs and tables. "Benny, sit." Tom's deep voice commanded, clicking his fingers to try and get the dog sit beside Barnaby, who went down as soon as he was told. But it was useless and Tom looked around for a moment, wondering where to tie Benny while he lined up at the kiosk, overcome with the delicious smells, which was making him more and more hungry every second. Fuck it, he thought and took Benny into the line with him while Barnaby lay on the ground, chilling out in the shade.
He kept an eye on his dog while the other tried to get to know the people behind and in front of him at the kiosk while he waited to order. "Would you stop? Jesus Christ..." he mumbled, Benny trying to tug him away to sniff the butt of another dog. Benny could be frustrating sometimes but he made up for it by being really cute (and slightly dopey at times) and being a very loving and affectionate animal. Plus, he was so adorable. Even more so than his owner - yes, that was possible.
