- Colton was born on New Years day, nineteen eighty nine. James' and Marilyn's second child. His sister was four at the time, and thoroughly jealous of his birth.
- Young in life, his family realized his adventurous personality at a carnival. Wishing to ride the kiddie ride repeatedly. Also, he was a very outgoing and friendly child, never meeting a stranger.
- He grew up on a ranch outside of Austin, Texas, his father was a cattle rancher. Mother a housewife, and his sister spoiled.
- At the age of four he started acting classes, his mother's friend an acting teacher for a local dance studio.
- His father put him into little league and youth football at six, refusing to have 'two daughters' as he put it.
- In Junior high Colt landed the leading role in the school play, at age thirteen.
- Once in high school, in his freshman year Colt was cast as an understudy for the lead, as well as another role in Sweeney Todd.
- His sophomore year he was put on varsity baseball, and junior year varsity football.
- Also in his junior year he had his 'first' true girlfriend. He had had plenty before, but, she was his first serious girlfriend. It ended at the end of his senior year when he moved to L.A.
- By his senior year he was offered a scholarship for baseball and football, but something else caught his attention. A casting director had seen him in his senior play and wanted him for a movie. It was a small role, only a few lines, but he decided to ditch the scholarships for it.
- For his eighteenth birthday, he went skydiving. It's his drug, the rush of adrenaline. His mother thinks that's why he loves live audiences so much, the adrenaline rush he receives.
- At nineteen he moved to L.A., much to his father's disapproval, for his first television role. The show only ran for three seasons, but it did get his name out there.
- His twenty first birthday he went home to Texas, his friends getting him shit faced and he missed his flight home. Which lead to him missing an audition for a movie.
- Colton leans more toward television than movies, feeling a greater tie with his co-actors. He also feels he reaches a larger audience than with a movie.
