[/font][/blockquote][/blockquote]Vince was still working on getting used to the time change. It was only three hours, but it seemed like a lifetime for him. Even Zeus, his doberman, was having issues adjusting. They would both be ready to hit the floor far earlier than anyone else on this coast, and be up way before the sun ever hit the horizon. The waking up early was rather beneficial, considering he liked being up before the city started to bustle and the fast pace settled in to the streets. He just liked the calm before the storm; he always had. It reflected his laid back personality pretty well, considering he was a calm person but could be set off in an instant with the right set of words. Actually, it wasn't all that easy to set Vince off or make him angry. He didn't like showing emotion for anyone, especially those whose goal it was to make him upset. He let everything flow in one ear and out the other, just brush past like a stranger on the street instead of facing it head on. The little things weren't something he worried about, at least about his own life. Now on jobs, it was completely different. Every little detail was important and planned precisely so nothing could go awry. And speaking of jobs, the whole reason for his move to the other coast was because of his latest one.
Usually he wasn't all that happy to come play bouncer for an overly-manicured Hollywood factory-made bitch, but this Lucia Ferrera, anyone who was offered to be her bodyguard and declined was a right foul idiot. Vince had seen her in movies, even worked a couple events she showed up at but never talked to her in person. She seemed nice, and of course she was hot. The main reason he took the job though, was because it paid better than anything else could offer him. Besides, she was absolutely gorgeous. He usually had a policy about sleeping with his clients, and he promised himself this wouldn't be any different. He'd done it once before and ended up screwing himself over to epic proportions. He'd fled, assuming she was going to put up some idiotic rape rumor when she'd really been the one to start it. Well, the age gap between them didn't help. Thankfully, Lucia wasn't some teenager who didn't even belong in the acting pool of talent, but then again, he wasn't looking to fuck her either.
He'd met with her manager yesterday and the man had told him to start immediately. She was apparently coming here to eat lunch, and according to the manager, anytime she set foot out of her limousine or house, it was his job to make sure she wasn't mobbed by fans or lynched by women who were angry that their husbands watched her films more than them. And he was absolutely fine with it, considering he was getting paid triple what he would for working security, and doing about half the work. All the smaller jobs he'd run didn't require a whole lot of energy, but who knew. Maybe this would be a little more interesting than he was bargaining for. He spotted a limousine pulling up, and figured that was her. "Well, here goes nothing, Moore," he said to himself, denying himself the pleasure of wondering what the hell was going to come out of this. This was restaurant for crying out loud, who would be waiting to mob her in here? Weren't people all fat enough to be distracted by food these days? Vince didn't know.
The limousine pulled up and he opened the door for her, ignoring the nasty look he got from the driver. She was indeed very attractive, and he now understood why the driver wanted to get the door for her. There was a time when Vince only saw women as pieces of meat, but he'd matured a lot since then. "Good afternoon," he cooed in his slight southern accent, his eyes basically lolling into the back of his head from behind his sunglasses. This was definitely going to be a rewarding job. It was then that he realized it was probably the plan for them to have lunch, get to know each other considering he would be following her basically everywhere for the next year, or possibly longer.. the year was the shortest his contract allowed.
