RELAX AND STAND IN THE WARMTH OF THE SAND
THE DAY IS LONG AND HERE FOR US TO
take for granted
Robbie liked documenting the places that he went to. From taking pictures to filming on his video camera or writing in his journal - which was something he had done since he was eighteen - he liked to have the memories. It was something he could look back on, maybe if he ever had children of his own he would hand it all down to him. He got to visit a lot of different continents and countries, be it to service active duty or simply to undergo specific training (for example, artic warfare training in Norway) and it was an aspect of the army that he really enjoyed. He was pretty used to the dusty, sandy and dry surroundings and the heat (though due to the time of year, it wasn't as nearly as warm as it could be in Morocco). Though just because he was used to it, didn't mean he liked it all that much.
At least this time he was a in place like this, he didn't have to wear a heavy armoured suit. That was definitely one of the bad things about his former job. The bomb disposal suit - if the bomb didn't friggin kill you, it was amazing that suit didn't do the job via dehydration. Having to lie around in the sweltering heat while you did your job, adrenaline and anxiety buzzing around you that was making you sweat anyway and because you had your helmet on with the protective front, you could barely fucking see because of the condensation. But safety came first, and while he could complain about it until the cows came home, he would rather have endured the struggle of that suit then risked life and limb without it.
It was bizarre to be here, it was the perfect place for a holiday and yet at the same time was often used to portray places of war? He knew that Morocco was the place they shot one of his favourite films - Black Hawk Down - using Morocco as a replacement for Somalia. Rob hadn't been in the acting business for very long, before taking on recognisable and credited roles he played a lot of extra spots. But he was happy to be a part of this team, it seemed like a good story line and it was the second post-apocalyptic film he would be featured in. He loved it, they were the exact kind of films that he enjoyed watching himself and he knew his friends would be pleased back home. Though they'd probably tease the fuck out of him at the same time, in a loving way of course. Rob was in his full kit, it was quite similar to the army getup he would wear when he was an actual soldier, except this was an American uniform.
He was enjoying a nice drink of water, sitting under a basic gazebo, on top of an unturned plastic crate as he looked out into the place they were filming. It seemed so dead and empty, yet at the same time beautiful. Which was why he couldn't resist lifting his hands which held his digital camera, trying to get the perfect wide shot of this beautiful country to add to his collection. And he sighed, pulling at his collar a little bit to let some air in before he started sweating like a biatch and that sigh of his turned into a lion's roar of a yawn. His body clock was pretty fucked up, it didn't know what timezone it was in anymore.
