The early September weather was a pleasant change for the Abigale. Unlike many, she much preferred cold weather to warm. There was something comforting about being able to cuddle up in a nice, warm sweater. The actress also found it easier to manage cooler temperatures opposed to the smoldering summer air. Sleep always came easier to her in the cold, and Abi was quite excited to say good riddance to hot, sleepless nights. The only thing she didn't like about the approaching winter was awards season. So much of an actor's career depended on winning and getting nominated for major awards, and there was actually quite a bit of pressure even though it was nearly impossible to do anything about the results. Abi also hated having to go to the ceremonies. She knew she had to for publicity, but sometimes she wished she could pull a Katharine Hepburn and just not show up even if she was nominated and the favorite to win. Dressing up was another thing she dreaded. Abigale loved fashion, if she could chose her own clothing, but most of the time it was her stylist who got her ready for big events like the Golden Globes or the Oscars.
Unfortunately, Abigale had to part with her stylist after a horrible incident at the SAG awards last year. It was hard for her to fire the woman, but it had to be done. Her dress had been a failure and many said it was the worst dress worn to a ceremony in years. Abi knew she should have known better than to wear it, but she had already committed to the dress and wasn't one to back out at short notice. Plus, her old stylist had said it would make a statement and potentially start a new trend. It had done the exact opposite of that, and now Abi was the laughing stock of nearly every fashion editorial. She was hoping a new and improved stylist would dress her in something that would redeem her horrible mistake from the previous year.
She had held various interviews over the course of the year, but nobody had managed to impress her. Her publicist instructed her to just pick the best out of the girls she had interviewed, but Abigale never settled. She'd find someone who could style her in a way that she wanted. There had to be someone out there who still had a bit of class when it came to fashion. The woman was slowly beginning to lose hope with every passing day. She was actually beginning to worry that she wouldn't have a new stylist hired by the start of awards season, and she'd have to dress herself, and she knew that was death for someone like her. Oscar nominees and Golden Globe winners didn't dress themselves. That was for sure.
Abi just finished conducting her last interview of the day at her office. She knew some actresses didn't have an actual office, but Abigale found it easier to conduct her business in a place that wasn't home. It was hard enough separating herself from the character she was playing. Her home was her sanctuary, and she didn't want her work life running into her private life any more than it had to. She dismissed the girl with a smile and said she'd call her if she got the job. Abi knew that she wasn't going to call. The girl's idea of style was too modernized just like every other girl she had interviewed.
A heavy sigh escaped her lips as she rolled her chair back to grab a few scripts she had to skim through. She had a lot to get through, and she never accepted a job before reading the entire screenplay. Her head immediately popped up when she heard the door to her office open. She wondered who could be seeking her now, but she figured her receptionist would take care of whoever it was if it wasn't important enough.
