if you ever come back,
Sam had one daughter, and her name was Tabitha Morning. Maybe it wasn't a biological connection, but the relationship they had was a powerful bond that, Sam imagined, only existed between a parent and a child. What they had wasn't sexual or romantic as the tabloids once assumed, but rather a magnetic connection like a father to his daughter. As a father should, Samson chose to stick around in her life, no matter what obstacles she encountered on her own. When she was put into rehab, which he advised her to accept, he visited her every once in a while, hoping that the visits would help reconnect her and that the longer absences would allow her to connect well with what was inside of the facility. He wasn't one to smother, but he was one to support in a mature fashion, and he wanted her to grow without holding his hand. Now that she was out, however, she needed him more than ever.
She hadn't come to visit him like he thought she would. It seemed unlike Tabitha, but there were numerous qualities about her that he could never fully grasp. He figured Siana would know something about it, as she had a growing relationship with Tabitha, but it was obvious that Tabs was choosing to stay inside or keep herself away from some old confidants. He asked around about her, but she was keeping a low profile; the most he was hearing from her came from indirect sources. Magazines said that she had been officially released, yet no details were added about her upcoming projects or where she was headed first. Sam's next guess was that she was at home, ignoring calls and trying to figure it all out. If she truly was coming clean, he could imagine that it was a taxing change. Her brother, Justin, had spotted her; that was clear. Samson went for dinner with Justin at times and their conversations usually led to her, yet this time, Justin's comments about her were subdued. Her life was being privatized.
While she was gone, Samson had picked up a rather unhealthy addiction that he had as a married man. In the days of Samson & Delilah, the man had been a chain smoker, and recent stresses seemed to provoke a renewed sense of dependency. Nicotine was his most recent vice. It felt like he needed Tabitha this time, not the other way around. This is why he decided to visit her at home. It was a bit of a surprise, considering she wasn't being completely responsive, but he wanted to see her, especially considering that it was the holiday season. He couldn't let her spend it all alone or simply with her biological brother; Samson was her family as well, and it had been too long since she and him were able to spend a day together. He walked to her loft and knocked, waiting patiently to see her face.
