He still had work at the country club and would continue on weekends and filming breaks for the extra cash, but he had taken last Tuesday of August to catch up with attempting to clean his apartment, stock up on easy-to-cook foods, and diligently rehearsing his lines. As Superman, he had to understand how to be a good leader. He had read through more than enough books and comics to understand Superman's full background. After doing intense research and obviously running on no sleep as he had done at John Hopkins, he felt like he deserved a reward of his choice. This time around, it was Kaesyn Bale, a manager in the same industry as his. After a successful first date, the two had spent some time together, but none of it came to be as meaningful as the first time they had met. Hayden was a fickle guy, but he was aware that Kaesyn had something better to offer than most females did. She was a real human being, not just a cardboard cut-out of what LA always gave him to look at. After living in the speedy life for a few months, he realized that it wasn't getting much better in the intelligent girls department. After leaving college, it seemed like a struggle to find intellectually like-minded human beings in a group. They seemed spread out and challenging to find. In this case, Kaesyn was that rarity for Hayden, and letting her go would be foolish. That was why he was deciding to take her out for a second official date. The twenty-seven-year-old excitedly held a bouquet of assorted flowers as he walked to her home. He had been there once before -- very briefly, of course -- before their first date. Since then, they had shared lunches and light conversations. Hayden could say he was happy with that, but a second date was necessary. When he finally reached the door, Hayden made sure to brush off his clothes and adjust the flowers to look as geometrically pleasing as possible. He smiled when he saw that each one of them was a perfect distance apart and rang the doorbell. He was a few minutes early, but it didn't seem like such an issue. Before he knew it, some girl he didn't know opened the door, and he released the tension that was holding his posture straight. "Is Kaesyn home?" he asked, obviously perplexed by the unfamiliar face in front of him. "We had a date," he smiled charmingly. The girl nodded to him. "I'm her babysitter," she claimed. Hayden frowned. Babysitter? That was when he saw a young boy approaching the door, and the puzzle pieces just weren't fitting together. "She's getting ready." "Hi," Hayden said, kneeling down to get on the child's level. "I'm Hayden," he grinned. The babysitter invited him inside before Hayden could notice the boy's shy but excited grin. The TV set was on, so Hayden took a seat beside the kid. He decided that Kaesyn would explain what exactly was going on. There were only a few possibilities as to what was going on, and Hayden didn't want to think through the five options he already had. [/style] |
