quirks. 1. Will get slightly rigid and antsy around dogs as she was bitten by a dog as a child and it's one of her first memories - and it stuck with her! You'll see her tense up immediately and try to keep calm, so the dog won't sense and then feed off her fear and will interact with the dog once the two have had a moment of getting acquainted. Or she will hide behind the nearest person! 2. She's slightly over compulsive about checking her doors and windows are locked and her security and emergency systems are working. Every night she'll go through the same routine of checking doors, making sure her alarm is on and every fortnight she checks her fire alarms. 3. She'll almost always eat a meal with something added if it can be. She loves ketchup and if it goes with the meal then it's going on the meal! If ketchup is inappropriate, she will find what will go with it like gravy or salad cream. 4. And she is particular about cutting food up because of her brother choking one time when they were younger. Ever since, she has been a keen cutter and chewer of food! If you didn't know her, you'd think she had an eating disorder or something because of how she cuts everything small and chews it to mush.

aspirations. 1. Zara would very much like to win an Oscar. More so as a personal achievement then a professional one. It would be an ultimate 'fuck you' to the people who hassled her in high school and told her she would be nothing in life. It would also be proof that if you love something enough, you'd work your ass off to do well at it. 2. Zara would also very much like to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and visit the Brazilian rainforest at some point in her life. 3. Become more actively involved in charity for soldiers and their families, having visited a military base in the middle east and a military hospital in late 2009, which moved her a lot. 4. She would very much like to find someone she can be happy with, romantically. But she doesn't jump for the first guy that bats his eyes at her just because she knows there's this rumour going around that she's a lesbian. She doesn't want to do something to prove she isn't.

secrets. 1. Zara would love to break out of the stereotyped roles she continues to portray. 2. On a more personal level, she would like to break out of the image that the media has seemed to drum up about her, the tough girl who's sexuality is constantly questioned. And she would also like to become more feminine, she is just very unconfident about changing her tomboyish ways because it's all she's ever known and it's her comfort zone. 3. She does miss her mother even when she says that you can't miss someone you never knew. She misses the idea of having a permanent female role model in her life, though she is very close to her grandmother and godmother. 4. She didn't graduate high school, having dropped out at seventeen (dropping out before they could expel her for fighting). But she got her G.E.D just before her nineteenth birthday. 5. She's got veneers.

personality evaluated. Overall, Zara's an alright kinda gal. Her most notable trait is her humour. She's a playful person, always down for a laugh and is easily amused. Incredibly easily amused, she finds some of the most inappropriate things funny. She's one of those people who can't help but laugh when someone falls over and hurts themselves and is still laughing while apologising for laughing. She's a little bit like the class clown except she isn't totally shameless. And often enough, she isn't the instigator. She's the one who jumps at the chance to help prank a friend or to run off into the pool of a hotel in the middle of the night. She's not a person who can do heart-to-heart well but she is trustworthy enough for it. Zara doesn't hide all of her feelings and thoughts but she is a private person and has never felt comfortable opening up, just like she never felt comfortable opening up to or asking her brothers for advice. But she'll always try and help a friend in need. She's a loyal and loving friend. She's a loving person in general and helpful too. Perfect person to call if you're moving house and need a little help, she'll bring beer and a pizza. And you'll probably not get half the shit you wanted to do done!

Sometimes she can be a little...okay a lot goofy. Sometimes she can make poor decisions. She's been caught speeding way too many times, resulting in being taken to court and having to do community service, narrowly escaping an eighteen day jail time. It's not that she's impulsive and doesn't think before she acts. It's more that she thinks she won't get caught. But she's not completely irresponsible, she knows what is safe and what isn't. She's not into trying to kill herself, unless it would be by accident because she enjoys a bit of thrill seeking. Zara is a person who will give most things a go once, just to say she did it or to determine if she likes it, following the expression "don't knock it till you've tried it". Whether it's a foreign dish or it's bungee jumping, she'll have a go! She's adventurous like that and she likes a challenge. She would love to take part in climbing a mountain or visiting a place like the Great Wall of China. And she really enjoys exploring and travelling, having family in different countries and having had to film in all sorts of locations. Her dream is to visit the rainforests of Brazil and see it for herself.

While Zara is a nice person, she is someone who gets frustrated pretty easily. Everyone has a bad side, everyone has the capability of getting angry and Zara is no different. She doesn't enjoy being disrespected but she's not so bothered about herself. Her family however, are an entirely different matter. She is both family-orientated and very protective of them. If there is one thing she will get into a fight of words or fists, it will be if you insult them. She doesn't like it, and she won't like you. Easily irritated and when provoked, incredibly pissed off, becoming ultra-PMSy. Especially if it's been a bad or stressful day. And it can transform her into a moody and irritable grouch. But she's easily cheered up with a bit of joking around or if you bring her a slice of cake. Girl's got a sweet tooth. She can be a little bit of a slob. Not a huge one though. She's an athletic gal but she really has an appetite! So it's a good job she's into fitness because she likes eating take-out and dining out (thanks to her brother owning restaurants in her city, yay). She's sometimes too lazy to cook and doesn't like cleaning. But she loves doing other household chores for some reason, she finds washing dishes and ironing relaxing.

She's down to earth and never comes across as high and mighty with fans. She'll always try and spare a few minutes when asked for a picture or an autograph and enjoys meeting children. She would love to be someone's role-model, or someone's inspiration to become an actress too. Zara likes to meet people, she likes to talk and swap little stories of life and experiences. She really loves elderly people because she could sit there and listen to their stories of the olden days for hours. Zara is considered to be one of the guys, as she has been all of her life. She tends to get on better with guys than girls because she can't handle the bitching, the drama that girls like to cause for themselves and she pretty much lacks the ability to do regular girl things. Boys were much easier to hang out, especially when they saw you as one of their own. But after twenty years of it, she'd kind of like to be seen as a woman now! She'll never lose her tomboyish traits and the way she's not afraid to get dirt under her fingernails. But she would like to evolve. She hopes it's not too late, as she's not totally against the idea of being a wife and a mother.

father. Hector 'Felix' Sanchez is sixty eight years old and a former world heavyweight boxing champion. After serving time in jail, he opened up a gym and started a training program for those who wanted to train and compete in boxing. He is a retired boxing coach and his company have a range of training programs in gyms across the country in boxing and kick-boxing.
mother. Sofia Sanchez (nee Delgado) died at the age of thirty nine after contracting an infection in hospital.
siblings. Alexandro Sanchez is forty one years old and is chef. He owns three restaurants in Southern California. Luis Sanchez is thirty six years old and is police officer in the LAPD, where he works within the K9 unit as a dog handler and trainer.

She's a secretary and together they have two children: Marcus is thirteen and Gabriella is ten. Penelope Sanchez is thirty three years old and the wife of Luis. She's a paramedic and together they have one child: Marissa, aged six. Teresa Ortega-Sanchez is sixty years old and is Zara's step-mother. She is a music teacher.

history evaluated. Known for tough-chick roles, Zara Sanchez is proof that there is a cross between beauty and brawn. Zara grew up in Buena Park, Orange County. She was born Maricruz Zara Sanchez in the early July of 1978, to Hector and Sofia Sanchez and was welcomed with opened arms by brothers Alexandro and Luis. Her father was more commonly known as Felix Sanchez and he was a professional boxer who competed worldwide and held the title of world heavyweight boxing champion on two occasions. Sofia was a native of the Dominican Republic and Felix was a Puerto Rican. Both of them grew up in a mostly Hispanic area of Los Angeles but only met in their early twenties through a mutual friend and it all went from there. When Zara was four years old, her mother passed away after contracting a virus in hospital following surgery. While Zara would always say that she was not affected by this on the grounds that "you couldn't miss someone you didn't remember" this was not entirely true. While she may not have missed the woman herself for her character and personality, she missed the presence of a female to guide her. Her family was largely populated with males and both grandmothers didn't live in the country while her godmother moved to New York when she was eight.

This left Zara to be heavily influenced by the male gender. And it wasn't a bad thing because she loved her brothers and they became her family when her father was imprisoned for manslaughter following a fight outside of a bar which lead to the death of a man. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight and a half years minimum. Zara was twelve at the time and the next eight years were not easy. But it was nothing she couldn't handle. In high school, she began to have a problem with other kids who bullied her because of her father, as his sentencing and trail was highly publicised. This led to Zara getting into a lot of fights. She wouldn't have people say bad things about her father, it was not completely his fault that the man died. He had been drunk and he had provoked a boxer, of all people, into a scuffle that turned nasty when he fell and hit his head on a kerb. But because Felix was unaware of this, he continued to hit him as the man hit back before falling unconscious. Zara eventually dropped out of high school at the age of seventeen much to the distress of her older brothers and began working whatever jobs she could get. From cashiers to café waitress, whether it was legit or 'money under the table'.

She would go back to education after a lot of encouragement from her father who told her that no matter what she wanted to do in life, finishing high school was a must. So she got her GED shortly before her nineteenth birthday. College was not something she was interested in, she had no real aspirations. She was good at sports but she wasn't the best. She didn't think she'd make a good businesswoman. She considered joining the military or becoming a cop or fire-fighter. But her friend suggested she tag along to a set of free acting workshops during the summer. And she had such a blast! And that was it, the acting bug had bitten her and that was all she wanted to do. But she had no idea what she was doing or how to get into the industry. So her best friend began to help her out. That best friend would eventually become Zara's agent/manager. After about nine months of (unsuccessful) auditions, casting calls and trying to get into other workshops (as she couldn't afford proper acting classes), she finally started to catch people's attention because of her humorous and charismatic personality with a tough chick shell. Because of her experience in boxing, her first acting role was of a teenager who aspired to become a boxer. And after that, Zara felt like she was unstoppable.

Though roles didn't come flooding in, she felt on top of the world for finally getting a role and a leading one at that. Sure, it wasn't a big movie but in later years it would become more popular. As would she. For just over ten years now, Zara has been in the industry and has gotten herself a reputation for playing the bad-ass girls, the tomboys and the tough chicks. And after ten years of it, she's starting to get bored. She's been 'one of the guys' her entire life and as she's hit her thirties, she's finally decided that maybe it's time to stop being confused as a closeted lesbian in the media and it's time to stop sticking to the same kind of typecasted roles. It's time to step out of her comfort zone and quit being a damn caterpillar. It's time to become a butterfly! Or so she likes to imagine in her head. It's easier said than done for her. She aches to be seen as a woman. But Zara is afraid of the outcome, she's afraid to look stupid. She's not a feminine person, she doesn't know the first thing about make-up and hair care. She can't even walk properly in heels. And she's afraid all of her male friends will reject her, because she values their bonds and she still wants to be like their sister, like one of the pack. She just wants to be the girl, with the guys.
