Ellen Interview with Harper Blaire: Airing 6th Sept 2012
Harper waited backstage, excited for yet another interview. Her first time on the Ellen, she couldn’t wait to get started. Growing up in the industry the tiny brunette had appeared on her fair share of talk shows, entertainment programs and magazine interviews. Her usual bubbly nature was amplified today at the prospect of being interviewed by such an iconic and fun host. The crowd could be heard already and as she could hear her intro begin she did a quick check of her outfit. Ready to go she popped that famous smile on her face and got ready to head on set.
She’s been a regular on our screens for years and we’ve had the pleasure of watching her grow up. Now featuring in what’s set to be the new hit show, my first guest for the day...the very lovely, Harper Blaire!
Harper tried to contain her girly excitement as the crowd erupted in applause and Nicki Minaj’s Pound The Alarm filled the air, signalling her cue to get her butt out there. Shaking her hips a little as she made her way across the stage to the familiar chairs and smiling Ellen, she gave one final, horribly executed booty pop before planting her body down into her seat, trying not to die of laughter and embaressment.
Welcome Harper. First time we’ve had you on the show. It’s about time
”It is about time Ellen. I’ve been waiting to show you my moves for ages. Guess I can tick that off the bucket list”
So there’s some big things happening for you this year. You’re filming the new musical comedy Zeroes now I hear. Wanna tell us a bit about the show? It’s just fantastic from what I’ve seen.
”Oh it’s an amazing show and I think audiences are going to eat it up. Basically we’re a group of high school students who all have our own little quirks and problems, like most teenagers, and we all find a place together through music and performing. The first time I read the script I was in hysterics, it’s got that comedic spin yet still manages to address many of the issues young people are acing today”
Now your character Kelly, what’s she all about? Do you see any of yourself in her?”
”Kelly, Kelly, Kelly. She’s technically popular because of the whole cheerleading thing but she sort of goes unnoticed by a lot of people. She’s the resident hoe bag’ –giggles- ”I think she just wants to be noticed so uses her feminine ways to get her attention. In ways I relate to her, I think all young girls struggle to find themselves no matter how they go about it and everyone knows what it feels like to be a part of a crowd but still feel isolated. The group turns out to be good for her though. She gets recognition for singing rather than be hopping”
And you sing in the show! That’s a talent we haven’t seen from you yet.
”Yes! I sing! Well I do my best anyways. It’s been a big change for me really since I’m so used to straight up acting. Now I’ve got the dancing and singing thrown in there too so it’s heaps of fun. Work’s never boring”
I bet! It seems like an amazing show and a great cast.
”They’re absolutely awesome. My part isn’t actually a main one so I’m not on set as much as most of the others so I get really excited when I go in to shoot. I’m like a kid on Christmas. Except my presents are my cast mates. Oh wow, that sounded lame” laughs again at herself.
Now I heard you injured yourself during filming. Are you okay? Sure you’re well enough to join us today?
Gasps, covering her mouth before shaking her head he and giggling. ”Oh my god, Ellen! I swear I’m like a walking disaster. So, my character’s obviously a cheerleader on the show so we do film some scenes where I have to do stunts and all that. I used to cheer and do gymnastics so I told the producers I’d be fine. Obviously I’m really short so ofcourse they decide they’ll start throwing me around in the scene. Everything was fine, I’m getting thrown up in the air time after time and not one tumble. Seriously, I was so proud of myself. Then we finish filming, I walk over to get my water bottle and BAM I fall flat on my face and end up twisting my ankle. It was like the floor came out from underneath me” Harper retold, using her hands to demonstrate her hideously ungraceful fall.
So you’re totally fine with being used as a human football but walking’s the hard part for you?
”Apparently. It’s the shoes. I’m always in heels or wedges so when I have to wear sneakers for the show, I’m like a toddler learning how to walk. It’s just disaster, I’m a total freak”
Well because we love you and we love the show, I thought I’d get you a little present to avoid anymore accidents. We’ve got you some Ellen knee and elbow pads
Harper took the pads with a huge smile, totally buzzed that she finally got to receive a gift from the show. ”They’ve got your face one them” she exclaimed, strapping the knee pads onto her knees and standing up to model them for the crowd.
Sit down, sit down! That’s not everything. I’ve also got your very own sneaker-heels that you can wear on set and feel more comfortable in
”Oh my god, oh my god” Harper clapped her hands like a little kid as Ellen presented her with a pair of heels that looked exactly like the pair she wore in the show with an added heel and the Ellen logo. ”Ellen, this is the best present I’ve ever been given” she squealed, kicking off her heels and pulling the new shoes on. Standing up she showed them off like a proud parent and leaned down to hug the blonde host.
I’m glad you like them. No more accidents missy. Now I have to say a big thanks for being on the show, it’s been a pleasure having you and I know you’ve got a few more projects in the works so you’ll definitely have to stop by soon.
”Oh for sure, I had so much fun! Thank you for having me”
You can see Harper and the rest of the cast in their new show Zeroes. Thanks for speaking with us Harp and we’ll be back after the break
”Bye everyone” Harper smiled wildly, waving at the audience and the camera as the music to cue an ad break began.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
