Unlike many of the hooligans of today’s time, he still believes in chivalry. Sure he’s not perfect and may refuse to let a female drive his cars, but when he is in a serious relationship he treats his woman like a queen. He’ll never forget a birthday or an anniversary and he loves spoiling his girl with jewelry and shopping sprees. Meech also loves surprising girlfriends with dinner outings, gifts or tickets to whatever concert she may have dreamed of seeing. When it comes to his girl his love, and his money, knows no limits. High Standards! Having high standards is a sign of self-respect. So speaking, Dimitri expects a lot from himself and he doesn’t allow himself to stoop or settle for less. Whether it’s in his choice of careers or women (he wouldn’t date a girl with a past or a reputation; aka a slut) he knows that everything he does is a reflection of himself and reflection of how he feels about himself so he is always striving to do better. The same concept applies to his clients as well as the people that are close in his life. He sets high expectations for them and he pushes them to do the best that they can. Motivational! Part of what makes him a great personal trainer is his ability to motivate others. He never looks down on others and instead of pointing out their flaws and weaknesses he chooses to emphasize their strengths. He pushes his clients and encourages them to keep going no matter how hard it gets. When he sees someone slacking or falling behind in anything, he’s the guy who would jump right into the mix and work alongside them to be a source of inspiration. He works with a high energy and his enthusiasm for his job always shows no matter what physical or mental state he may be in. Reserved! Sometimes being a mystery is a good thing. Dimitri is careful to keep his personal life personal and separate from his career. So try as the paparazzi might, you won’t hear a lot about him in the tabloids unless it’s related to his basketball career. His need for privacy can easily get annoying to peers and family because he likes to keep people out of the loop even for something as simple as what he plans on doing on an upcoming Saturday. He prefers to play things close to the chest because he doesn’t like people being in his business. Responsible! He knows what he wants and he goes after it, and there is nothing that can stop him. Not parties, not pestering immature friends, not even the hottest woman in the sexiest dress. Nothing can distract him. No doubt he can have fun and let loose, but when it comes down to work and business he doesn’t play around. Likewise he also knows when enough is enough. Because of course there is a very fine line between having fun and getting into trouble. Doubtful! Meech is no fool. He is a very intuitive and insightful man. Anyone who tries to scam him or get over on him will often find their plans thwarted because he can smell a fishy situation from a mile away. Even though he may seem like a quiet, innocent sweetheart Dimitri knows how the world works and how dirty some people can be so he remains rightfully suspicious and on his toes. He will take what you say with a grain of salt and if something seems even slightly off he’ll be especially wary of you even though he may not always show it. Generous! Despite his success as a basketball player, Dimitri has not forgotten where he came from. He knows what it’s like to come from nothing so he makes sure to give back to his community. Not only does he donate to charities, but he stays connected with what’s going on in the world and helps fund programs that fight against trafficking, AIDs and poverty. But he doesn’t forget his hometown and often makes trips back to Chicago to visit schools, work with children in hospitals and help fight crime and poverty within the city. He is currently working to start his own organization to give underprivileged children a chance at a better education. WEAKNESSES Quiet. Dimitri is a man of few words. He doesn’t say much and he’d rather sit back and watch the action happen. He’s likely to give very short or one-word replies in texts or instant messengers. He may be from the Windy City, but large crowds have always made him uncomfortable. At parties he may be caught standing back on the wall or hanging out in the kitchen having a private chat, and he can easily go unnoticed in a public chatroom. When he’s among an intimate group of close friends, however, he feels more comfortable and may not be as reserved though he’ll still be in the background. Messy. If you went over to his house you would probably find dishes piled in the sink, clothes carelessly tossed over an unmade bed and maybe a shower puddle left on the bathroom floor. When he was growing up his mother would scold him because he’d always managed to get food in his hair and on his face when he was eating. Thankfully that trait has outgrown him, but he still leaves other messes in his wake without offering to clean up after himself. Big Kid. This six foot seven giant can easily look intimidating but he’s a kid at heart. You have to be patient with him because he’d blow in your face with an empty straw, slide on his hardwood floors in his socks or have a field day playing with bubble wrap. Some have hackled him for not “acting his age”, but that’s easier than it sounds. And like any kid would, if he knows something pisses you off that will only make him do it even more. He gets bored very easily and he needs to be constantly entertained, which is why one of his teammates bought him a pet monkey. Bullheaded. It’s not that he’s too proud to admit when he’s wrong or to apologize for something. Meech is stubborn in the sense that it’s hard to sway his mind once it’s set. You can kick, plead and whine but when it comes down to it he’s going to do whatever the hell he wants. If he really wants to do something he’ll find a way to get it done. And one thing he hates more than anything is being told what to do, especially when he’s already doing it or is about to do it. Oh, remember that bit about him acting like a kid? Well he does the opposite of what people tell him. Stoic. His childish nature doesn’t mean he’s always laughing. In fact he’s the exact opposite. You’ll rarely see him smile and he seems rarely affected by anything which makes him a very hard person to read. The funniest things will only warrant a snort of amusement from him and he never cries. Girls who have tried to make him jealous have only gotten angry because it’s hard to get an emotional reaction out of him. Even if something does affect him it’s hard to know because it rarely shows. Can't Be Bothered. As a man who cherishes his privacy, Dimitri likes his personal “me” time. There will be many times when he quite simply does not want to be bothered with people. Some may say he’s antisocial, cold or doesn’t like people but in truth he just likes to be able to enjoy his alone time every once in a while. When he’s feeling social you can bet that he’ll be a great person to have around. But he doesn’t always need to be surrounded by people and he can really care less about them. Unflirty. His romantic side only shows when he’s involved with someone or knows they like him. And getting him to realize that you like him is a challenge. He is flirtatiously challenged. Flirting goes way over his head and it’s hard for him to see when a girl is coming on to him. He’s also not very good at it himself. His flirting is very subtle. You may not even be able to tell that he’s doing it. But if he likes you he’ll take more of an interest in you: what you like, your interests, your hobbies, that sort of thing. Small compliments may be given but they can easily be dismissed if you don’t know what to look for. SKILLS • Athleticism: Basketball and weight training are his specialties (duh), but he also enjoys running and baseball. Physical activity is his life. • Businessman: He knows all about making wise investments to further his career. From a shoe line to investing in the popular Chicago pizza restaurant, Giordano's, he knows how to keep his money growing. • CPR/First-Aid: He's been injured so many times it would be a crime for him not to know CPR/First-Aid. This is also useful in the case that a client gets injured, God forbid. • Heavy Sleeper: It's not beneficial, but he should make this Guinness World Record for this one. It would take a lot more than alarm clocks, fire drills and crying babies to wake him up. Try banging him over the head with a skillet. • Ambidextrous: He is equally adept at using both hands. Rather it's dribbling or catching a ball, writing, whatever. • Spontaneously lose all interest in damned near anything: Ah, the thrills of having the attention span of a four year old... EXPERIENCE • 1st Quarter: Rosewood Falcons/Lincoln Wildcats (Nov 1992 - March 1997) When Dimitri first entered Rosewood Elementary School he was told that he was too small to play on the basketball team. So it wasn’t until the fourth grade after he’d hit a growth spurt that he was allowed on the team. Prior to playing for the Rosewood Falcons, and later for the Lincoln Middle School Wildcats, Dimitri played basketball regularly with his two older brothers who helped hone his skills. • 2nd Quarter: Simeon Wolverines (Nov 1997 - March 2001) Meech was a hot topic for coaches by the time he was ready to enroll in high school. In his freshman year he played both varsity and JV, and he remained varsity for his last three years. In his overall high school career, he played (and started) 132 games and averaged 21 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds for each game. • 3rd Quarter: Memphis Tigers (Nov 2001 - April 2005) Dimitri declined offers to many notable schools, choosing instead to accept a basketball scholarship to the University of Memphis because they were known to put players into the NBA. He averaged 14.9 points per game, 4.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds during the regular season. During his college career he got a part-time work-study job on campus as a personal trainer at the student rec center. His athleticism and skill in basketball helped him greatly. The position gave him a lot of experience and influenced his career move years later. • 4th Quarter: Chicago Bulls (Nov 2005 - Present) As soon as Dimitri graduated from college the Chicago Bulls scooped him up. He was drafted onto the team just a month after leaving U of M. For six years he has played as the team's point guard and he will be starting his seventh season this coming November. Meech has won many awards in his professional career including: Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, and Skills Challenge Champion. In addition to his basketball career, he began working as a celebrity personal trainer in 2007 and is sought after for his enthusiasm, his versed skills and knowledge, and his ability to work well with others. |
