He couldn’t get her out of his head. It was as if she was invading every inch of his brain, every thought he had seemed to revolve around her. He would be eating breakfast and would wonder is she too was eating her own breakfast back in New York. Did she prefer coffee or tea? Or did she skip the whole thing all together. The thoughts were random and completely irrelevant but he couldn’t help but wonder. Was he crazy for doing so? Probably, but he was clearly and obviously smitten over the woman and he found no reason to hide it. He made no movements to hide the smiles on his face whenever she appeared in his thoughts. He had even been talking with his mother about this all.. and perhaps that was a little too far. But she had sensed a difference in him that only a mother could, and after persuasion he couldn’t stop gushing about her. Not that his mother minded either way, she was happy for her son and even happier about the prospects of more grandchildren which she had voiced on more than one occasion but Elijah had soon dispelled those ideas as that was indeed far too soon. He vowed he would take things slow, he didn’t want to scare her off. Which was why he had called up Hayden and organised a guys night.
He hoped it would make for a good distraction as he didn’t have much work to look forward to, and his dog could only provide so much entertainment. Though to be fair Simba had been there for him through thick and thin. His bernese provided companionship when there was no girlfriend around to do so, he listened when Elijah complained and provided some comfort albeit quite disgusting at times when the drool went into his eye. But the gesture was appreciated either way. The bernese in question pounded towards him from his bedroom, nudging at his legs playfully, nearly knocking him over in the process. Elijah scruffed up the top of Simba’s head playfully before leading him by the collar to his now full bowl. That would distract the big guy for enough time for Elijah to get everything ready.
To be fair there wasn’t much that needed to be readied for his friends visit. It was to be a casual night between two guys. There were no expectations nor rules for the night, there would only be constant gaming and an equally continuous streaming of beer for the two men. He took out some snacks for the night and laid them on the coffee table next to the stack of video games already present. There wasn’t much else that needed to be done after that and it was in good timing too. There was a knock on the door which Simba soon alerted him to by barking extremely loudly. He jogged slightly on his way to the door, slipping slightly when he transferred from the carpet to the wooden floors. He swung open the door and held his arm out like a magician after performing a new trick as he welcomed his new guest ”welcome, welcome” he spoke as he ushered him in ”beer’s in the fridge” he gestured towards the small kitchen area, he was never fond of cooking. ”toilet’s that way” he swivelled and pointed in the opposite direction ”careful of the dog” he warned, though too late as Simba already made himself acquainted with the new company. ”And this is where the magic happens” he said once he reached beside the sofa. His apartment was an open area where there was really no privacy wherever you went, except the bathroom and bedroom of course.
