Funny thing was that Teddy hadn’t even met the guy, but he knew enough about him to be threatened by the actions. Tabitha had told Teddy that her brother was over-protective and at the time, Teddy appreciated what Justin did for Tabby that resulted in her getting a bodyguard, but inviting that bodyguard to his place for dinner? As kind a gesture as it was, Teddy had to assume he wanted to check out the guy who was “guarding” his sister’s body. Had he gotten the idea that Teddy was doing more than just bodyguard to her? Because that idea was completely…true. Okay, fine. They had sex once. Alright, twice. But there was no way anyone knew that. Or did they? Oh good god, he hoped not. The last thing he wanted was to get fired only a short time after being hired. Theodore closed the door behind Tabby when she walked out of the car and walked by her side up to the front door of Justin’s place. He stopped at the front door and before either of them could ring the doorbell, he turned to her, ”Just answer this, is he bigger than me?” Tabby should know by know that he was a little shaken up by the invite because not even she told him why he was here. ”Feel free to lie to me.” The look on her face reminded him he was being stupid, though. It was Tabby’s older brother…probably a mature guy who he already has one thing in common with Teddy. They were both fathers. Very loving ones, he was sure of it. Maybe, that’s what they could bond over? He’d seen Rudy a couple times when Tabby was with him, so he was relieved that at least someone in that house already liked him. A part of him even hoped he could charm Rudy’s mother. The worse part about it was that it was so last minute and the last thing he wanted to do was disappoint Suzie, his two-year-old daughter, who he only really saw on the weekends…when he could. Most of the events Tabitha Morning attended were during the weekends, but thankfully she didn’t need him for all of them. It worked out for him because he was able to make time for both his current favorite girls and no one got disappointed. Tonight was supposed to be his night with Suzie and if he had cancelled tonight, whatever he had with Tabby would’ve been jeopardized and that was the last thing he wanted. Teddy rarely disappointed Suzie and even though he knew she wouldn’t remember this day when she grows up, he felt like he’d just done something horrible. Never again. He was given the option of bringing Suzie by Tabby, but for some reason he didn’t think that was a good idea. Why? Well, he didn’t know anymore, but at the time, it seemed reasonable to just say no, but now he was wondering that maybe he should’ve brought her. It would’ve made him feel better about not cancelling on her and it may have softened up Justin’s mood—if it was hard—if he saw her. He decided to just drop it all and put on that charming smile before looking at the door for a couple seconds and then back at her, "Wait...how about a kiss for good luck?" ever since tabby told teddy that justin wanted then to come over for dinner he had been freaking out to the point where she thought she'd have to slap some sense into him. not really. tabitha was just as freaked out as he was, the only difference was that she used her acting skills to hide it better. on the outside she was all reassuring words and smiles but on the inside her stomach was turning backflips. she completely understood where he was coming from because it was just so random of justin to want to do that. when she asked him why, he simply told her that he wanted to get to know the guy that was looking out for her. a small part of her wanted to call bullshit on it but for all she knew it was the truth - so she had no choice but to say yes.as soon as the call ended she had returned to the living room to tell him the news and bam, here they were. theo and tabby's relationship had went from strictly being busyness related to intimate in a matter of weeks and now they had this sort of...nameless relationship. they weren't a couple but they acted as if they were.

tabitha had no idea how many times she had told the male beside her to take a deep breath and relax. teddy was acting guilty and if he kept it up, justin would catch on to what was happening and flip out. for what seemed to be the thousandth time, she told him to relax as she stepped out of the car and they made their way to her brother's front door. just as she was about to ring the doorbell she was stopped by yet another question. "theodore.." she muttered quietly, rolling her eyes in the process. her eyes looked him over, trailing up and down his body as if she were actually sizing him up. after a moment she shook the thought from her brain and have him a look that made him realize that he was being stood again. it was a look that he had gotten from her on numerous occasions. "stoooop..." she pleaded. the only bright side of this whole dinner was the fact that she got spend time with rudy.

speaking of kids, she felt a but of guilt as she thought about teddy's daughter, suzie, who was suppose to spend the weekend with him. yet, here they were. she was nervous about meeting her like she was with every other child she came across. she was the same way when it came to rudy but she learned to love him as much ass he loved her, so hopefully when the time came that she would meet suzie it would be the same. she had even offered for him not to cancel on her and bring her along but he squashed the idea as fast as she had dished it out. when it seemed as if he finally listened to her words and calmed down, she smiled up at him and turned towards the door. she was about to push the button but was stopped once again, just as she was about to tell him to 'fuck off' with his question, a blank expression washed over her. wait...how about a kiss for good luck? she let out a throaty laugh, thinking it wouldn't hurt to give him a quick kiss. she stood on her toes, her hands grasping his face gently as she placed her lips against his.

what she hadn't expected however, was for the door to open before either of them had a chance to ring the bell, knock on the door, or even better - a chance to get out of one another's mouth. tabby pulled back abruptly and stared at the one person who was never suppose to know about this. DON'T EVER LET HIM GET YOU DOWN

Of the people in Justin Morning's past, no one could trump the importance of his baby sister. He could remember the day she was born, when she was innocent and untouched by the sins of the world. He wanted to look at her like that today, but he couldn't -- Tabitha was far different now. She was so altered, in fact, that Justin had felt obligated to hire her a bodyguard. Maybe it was irrational, but with all that had been occurring in her life, he needed someone he could trust with his closest family member. After looking for one person in particular, Jessica had helped him select Theodore Frazer, a fellow who had an impressive resume and amount of dedication. After some persuasion -- Justin had wanted a female protector for Tabitha -- he agreed to give this Theodore person a go. Not only did he seem qualified, but he was a fellow father, and Justin had to say that he could respect that.

"It's a nice thing you're doing, love," Jessica said as she flattened the sheets on the king bed they shared. She leaned over the dark wood of the bed frame. "You should get to know him. He and Tabitha will be spending a great deal of time together." Justin stood at the mirror, buttoning up his dress shirt. Even with his wife's supportive words in his head, he couldn't shake the fear that hiring an attractive older man to stand by his sister was a disastrous plan. He thought Tabitha would be angry in the first place, but she had complied with Justin's request to have extra muscle in her midst. In case of emergency, she had back-up, and that was all Justin needed to get himself just one night of much-needed rest.

"Rudy," Justin called as he walked down the stairs. He buttoned up the sleeve as he turned the corner. Rudy sat in the middle of the white carpet of the living room. Justin crossed from the wooden floor to the soft ground. The boy was dressed in attire almost identical to his own father's: a green button up (rather than Justin's red) and khaki shorts. Justin smiled at his son, uncertain about whether or not he would like Theodore. "Are you ready to help daddy set the table?" he asked. His voice was always softer when addressing his first child, though anyone who knew Justin was aware that his children were the only ones who got to experience that side of him. He was usually callous and serious. An militia man, Justin was known for his disciplined mind and skills in self-defense. Even with these advantages, though, Justin felt like he could be a better father -- that came with practice, patience, and kindness.

Once Rudy and Justin were done setting the kitchen table, Jessica came into the kitchen to make sure that all was as it should have been. Justin had helped her with cutting the vegetables, but she took over with the chicken parmesan and pasta salad. They usually had good food, though there were days when Justin's experiments forced them to head to the nearest Chinese take-out hotspot. Justin's adventurous attitude came from his need for variance in a strictly routine-oriented lifestyle. He was constantly working with others to help publicize movies and giving advice to various actors to make sure their careers were on track. "They should be here in about fifteen minutes," Jessica commented. She scanned the table then smiled. "Rudy is becoming an expert, Jus," she commended before he pecked her on the cheek. "Taught by only the best!" he grinned back.

When Jessica pointed out that a car had pulled in, Justin walked toward the door apprehensively. He didn't know what to expect, but he had intentions with this visit. He had to figure out what this guy was all about. When he opened the door, though, he saw an unpleasant sight. Words didn't even escape his lips; his expression spoke for him. "Come in," he recuperated, trying to be bright and cheery as Jessica would have been. Tabitha, who knew him, would probably hear that the words escaped him through clenched teeth. Once the two were inside, he patted his sister on the shoulder and stretched a hand out to Tabitha's apparent new love interest. "It's a pleasure," he glared before clearing his throat and quietly leading them to the table. When they came into the dining room, Rudy leaped to his feet. "Look, daddy! It's Tabby's new boyfriend!" Justin shot him a look. "Meet Jessica," he said as politely as he could muster.

He really was freaked because it was killing him not knowing what the hell Justin hoped to gain by inviting him…and Tabby to his place for dinner. Maybe it really was a peace-offering and he was being over-dramatic about it, who knew? Until he did know, though…he wasn’t going to cool it. Even if she slapped some sense into him. Well, no. Maybe he would settle down if Tabitha really did slap him. He watched as she looked him up and down and he would’ve started to get in her face about not giving him a reply, but the look on her face just sort of shut him up enough to not want to talk back to her. She was good at shutting him up. ”Alright,” He shrugged, unable to question her again when she pleaded for him to stop. Little did Tabby know, that was the moment that he too started to look at the bright side. It was going to be okay. Rudy was going to be happy to see him. Little Suzie may miss her daddy, but he’ll see her first thing in the morning. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard Tabitha laughing at him. He straightened up, not really about to ask her again, but before he knew it, she was on her toes, grabbing his face. Teddy wasn’t slow to respond as he wrapped his arm around Tabby’s waist and kissed her back. With a bouquet of flowers in his free hand, he deepened the kiss, obviously not at all afraid as he had forgotten where they were standing right now. He seemed to do that a lot when he was with Tabby. It was when she pulled when he noticed the light coming out into the darkness outside from inside the house. Shit. So much for best first impression. No man wanted to see another guy’s tongue down his baby sister’s throat as a first impression. Or at all for that matter. Finally, Teddy removed his arm from around Tabby’s waist and quickly licked his lips of her lip gloss. The older man’s voice was soft, but it scared it the hell out of him as if ”Come in,” really meant, “You’re dead meat, kid.” At least that was what Teddy read from the look in Justin’s eyes when they shared a firm handshake. ”Oh, the pleasure’s all mine,” Teddy said before following Justin to the table. When he had turned his back, he looked over at Tabby and widened his eyes as if to continue letting her know how freaked out he was…well, now he was panicking even more because if Justin didn’t suspect anything before, he definitely did now. There was still no blow to the face…thank god. If he didn’t think things could get worse, Rudy called him Tabby’s ‘new boyfriend.’ Not only did that make things awkward for him and Tabby—considering he was no boyfriend—but there was now more tension. ”It’s nice to finally meet you, Jessica,” He said, taking his hand one hand while handing her the bouquet in the other, giving him that signature charming smile before speaking up again, ”These are for you.” Well, duh. ”Hey Rudy.” He looked towards the kid who had leaped up when they entered. Teddy leaned forward and raised his hand in from of Rudy to give a high five before straightening up. ”You guys have a lovely home,” he finally said, hoping it would help clear a little bit of the tension that started way before Teddy and Tabby even entered the house. created by ADE! when she kissed him, she didn't expect for it to get as deep as it did. she often forgot how lost she could get when the two of them were entangled in a lip lock. her lips spread into a small grin as he kissed her back, his arm pulling her body closer to his. maybe it was a bad idea to kiss him, especially at a time like this but, he was looking so stressed and pitiful that she had to do something. the bonus of it all was the fact that she got the chance to taste his lips. when she heard the door open, her heart sank when she saw her brother standing there. the look on his face signifying that they had been caught and he was pissed the hell off. her hands fiddled with the front of her dress, smoothing it out as she tried to make it seem like she was not just making out with her bodyguard. her beautiful brown eyes averted his face as he spoke. he was never the type of male to disguise his anger well and given by the 'speaking through clenched teeth' routine, he was irritated. tabby tip-toed past him, her body tensing up as if she expected some sort of reprimanding when all he really did was pat her lightly.

she wrapped her arm around herself while she brought the other up to bite at her index finger out of nerves. she glanced back and forth between the males as they interacted with one another for the first time. the girl noticed the glare right away but at least he was acting as normal as he could and did not start throwing a fit in front of everyone. last thing she wanted was for the dinner to end before it even began. she offered justin a small, apologetic smile as he walked by her to lead them towards the dinner table. tabby and teddy both shared a look of 'oh, shit' for a moment before she nodded her head for him to look in front of him at jessica and rudy. she placed a smile on her face but it faded when she heard the words look, daddy! it's tabby's new boyfriend. her eyes widened in shock as she looked up at jessica and then to justin, shaking her head in disagreement. "he's lying.." she blurted, wishing that she could erase the image from her brother's mind. she could see where rudy could get the idea, whenever she spent the day with the small boy, theo was always there and even though they tried to keep the fleeting glances and quick kisses in the dark - rudy was not an idiot, he just might have seen a kiss or two.

"he's just my bodyguard monks.." she corrected with a small grin. she looked at justin to see how he was reacting to teddy being in his home, how polite he was being to his wife and child. a part of her wanted to tell him to remove the scowl before anyone noticed but she opted for the opposite and decided to make her way over to jessica to wrap the small female with the ever growing womb in a loving hug. jessica was someone that tabby held dear in her heart, fit the longest time she was the person that tabby turned to when she would have her issues that only another girl would understand. she was the sister that she always wanted but also had the maternal side that she missed out on. "aw, i'm so happy to see you! let me look at you.." she grinned as she pulled away. "wow, you look great, you're all glowing and everything." she complimented. after the embrace, she bent down at the knee and scooped rudy up in her arms. "oh, look at my little suavecito!" she cooed, tickling him a bit before she set him down.

she placed her hands behind her as she glanced around a bit before her eyes landed on the table. her head nodded in agreement when teddy said they had a wonderful home. she cleared her throat, already feeling uncomfortable and as if her brother was burning a hole through back of her head. "do you need any help bringing the food out?" she asked, offering up her assistance to help in anyway she could. at some point she knew justin would say something about it and she only hoped that they could discuss it without fighting. she honestly didn't mean to fall for theo, it just sort of happened. it was literally like one day, she woke up and saw him for the first time. tabby was bitchy the first couple of days, not feeling the whole babysitter routine but she learned to deal and was happy with where their relationship was at now. the girl looked over at teddy and smiled before looking away at something else absently.

Theodore was correct to think that Justin was out to get him. Of course, as an older man, he wasn’t going to physically do anything to him. Justin was cunning when he had a goal. He didn’t know exactly what he was going to do about this unprofessional matter, but he had to take a stand. At least Hunter Vega hadn’t licked Tabitha’s esophagus on Justin’s front porch. Even Adam, a long-time friend of Tabitha’s, didn’t feel comfortable enough to disrespect the Mornings that way. That’s exactly what Theodore had just done to slight Justin: he had disrespected the foundation of his home and had defiled the already waning image of Justin’s nice little sister. The man was going to pay. ”Oh, the pleasure’s all mine,” Theodore gushed. Justin tried not to roll his eyes, but he couldn’t hold his tongue. ”Oh, I’m sure,” he replied dryly. Tabitha’s guilty face made him feel triumphant. Good. She knew that she was acting inappropriately in a home with her nephew and sister-in-law. Now that he thought about it, he didn’t want Theodore around Rudy when Justin wasn’t around. These thoughts swirled in his mind when he saw the iniature version of himself at the dinner table.

”Just a body guard,” he nodded at Tabitha smartly when she corrected Rudy. The boy was smart enough to read body language… That is, unless Tabitha and Theodore had been behaving inappropriately in front of his son. On top of that, the guy was being a little too friendly with the older man’s pregnant wife. Justin had noticed the bouquet of flowers, but now that they were being directly handed to Jessica, he felt like he should burn them. The Morning temper was elevating his blood pressure, and a family dinner of at least an hour in length had not even begun. He sighed, glancing at Rudy once again. The boy’s eyes were full of excitement. Of course he liked Theodore. The guy had his own kid, so he knew how to make kids feel comfortable. Justin felt like a fool.

Jessica gracefully accepted the bouquet that Theodore had purchased for the family and turned to Justin. ”Honey, can you put these in a vase?” her tone was as sweet as sugar, but her eyes were obviously telling him, “Stop being a sourpuss and put a smile on.” She knew Justin very well, and most of their arguments – when the subject was within their marriage – were about Justin’s grumpy habits. Indeed, Jessica had her very own flaws: she didn’t cope well with short-term commitments and displayed passive-aggressive behaviors. When it came down to hospitality, however, she could win a gold medal. Even if she had seen what Justin had witnessed, she would have been grinning and hugging Theodore. She didn’t allow him to get off without one; his formal gesture was not acceptable. Instead, Justin had to watch his wife fawn over some bodyguard/male prostitute while her husband was filling up a vase with flower water. He was disgruntled.

The sight of Tabitha and Jessica getting along swimmingly – as per usual – was softening. Justin glanced at the floor for a moment before making his way to Rudy. Just being by the kid made him feel a little bit better about what had just entered his home. Theodore now felt like an intruder. Justin had studied a great deal of psychology, and he would guess that Tabitha and Theodore had experienced at least one sexual encounter as a couple. If that wasn’t disturbing for an older brother to be aware of, nothing was. He glared at Theodore again, wondering how he was going to tolerate the scorpion man in his house for the next hour and a half. They would probably stay to discuss Tabitha’s upcoming events as well. Ridiculous.

”You know what? You two take a seat. Jessica and I will bring the food.” Justin tugged Jessica by the hand, and she followed his lead. Once they were in the kitchen in the corner furthest from the archway opening to the dining room, he turned to her. ”I opened the front door and they were licking each other’s tongues, Jessica.” He ran a distressed hand over his forehead. Jessica took a few moments before bursting into laughter. After multiple attempts to shush her, she covered her lips. ”Look at him, Justin. Tabitha is young and hormonal and she has a beautiful bodyguard. It’s bound to happen.” The only thing that made these words bearable was the fact that Jessica was holding eye contact instead of turning around to admire the younger man again.
Justin rolled his eyes.

”He’s… old. For her.” It seemed like a logical point to bring forth. Theodore was far too old for Tabitha. Instead of agreeing with him, Jessica went on to get the food onto plates. Justin quickly stepped forward and offered a helping hand. After a few moments with only the clanging of plates and utensils filling the silence, Jessica spoke up. ”I know he is, but you can’t tell her not to be with him. It’ll only bring them closer.” She looked at him with sad eyes. Justin nodded. It was true, but he couldn’t exactly accept it without a battle. The two finally came back out with the plates. Justin had to make two trips, but after he placed Theodore’s plate down, dinner was ready. Once everyone was seated, they commenced eating. The Mornings weren’t exactly religious, so no prayer was said. Justin laid his napkin on his lap. “Ted-Ted, are we going to play Transformers after dinner?” Rudy asked. He stuck a piece of pasta salad in his mouth with a fork and swung his legs back and forth. His hair was combed to the side, making him look like a little grown-up.

It relaxed him for that moment and every worry was out the window for a second. It sadly back when the door opened on them, though. A huge part of him really did want to just turn around and bolt without Tabby. I mean, he could apologize to her later, couldn’t he? She’d forgive him. Maybe. Sitting back in a bit with Suzie and reading her favorite book to sleep sounded great right now. It was apparently far too late by the time he was in the door, looking forward at Jessica and Rudy just as Tabby had gestured him to. ”He’s just my bodyguard, monks.” Well. The last thing Teddy wanted right now was to be just her bodyguard, but this was definitely not the appropriate time and place to correct her correction. She said what she said to save their asses and he would take it for now. ”Yeah. Just her bodyguard.” And he hoped to god the kid wouldn’t mention what he may or may not have seen when he was with Tabby and Teddy. He watched as Tabby moved past him to interact with Rudy and Jessica, smiling as she complimented the both of them. It all made him miss his own family in North Carolina. With work and all, he hadn’t seen his sister or parents and he tried to stay in LA as often as he could, considering that’s where Suzie’s mom lived. It was too much to ask of her to come with him where he wanted to be because they weren’t exactly close at all. No, he couldn’t ask her to marry him because he didn’t want to be tied down by a woman he didn’t exactly love. Suzie was a different story. He did love and if time ever forced him to marry who he didn’t want to for Suzie, he probably would. Luckily, for now, him and Suzie’s mother were civil each other and that was all he asked. He spoiled his daughter on top of supporting her. But anyway, he thought the flowers would be nice gesture because judging by the look on Justin’s face, he’d probably eat up what he spent a lot of time to pick out and of course, ladies loved flowers. Besides, he couldn’t arrive empty handed. He may be rude, but he was still a gentleman growing up and he knew the protocols for being a guest in someone’s home. He couldn’t talk to the woman for long, though, because he was really getting the impression that Justin hated his bonding with the woman, judging by the disgruntled look on his face. This was going to be a longass night. ”Do you need any help bringing the food out.” Teddy looked to Tabby when she snapped him out of his thoughts as she spoke to Jessica. No. Tabby seriously wasn’t thinking of leaving her here with Justin, was she? He protected her day and night and the one time he wants a bodyguard for himself, she decides to offer help elsewhere. He felt like taking her hand to keep her from going anywhere, but just kept his hands to himself. After Justin and Jessica walked out, he leaned down to be at eye-level with Rudy, ”How’s my little Bruno Mars doing?” He asked seconds before he heard Jessica burst out laughing in the kitchen. Upon hearing her, he looked up at Tabitha and then back at the kid, raising his eyebrow. ”I can’t tell. How am I doing?” He asked the both of them. By the time Jessica and Justin returned, he was taking his seat across from Tabitha and right next to Rudy. ”Sure thing, Bud…” He sounded unsure when he answered the question about playing Transformers because he didn’t even think he’d make through dinner at this point. ”Everything tastes delicious, Jessica,” He tried again about a minute or two after everyone started eating, instantly regretting that he complimented Justin’s voice, obviously assuming she prepared everything. Shit. He tried to remember what Tabitha told him earlier. That nothing was suspected by Justin and then a bunch of stuff that basically summed up to “his bark was bigger than his bite.” When keeping that in mind, he relaxed once again, leaning back in his chair, back still straightened as he noticed once again that Tabby was the one who relaxed him, even though she didn’t realize it. Looking forward at the girl sitting across from him, he smiled to himself for only a second before removing his flip-flops to stroke the side of her feet with his toes as a means of thank you. the snide comments coming from her brother were bound to happen all throughout dinner, teddy had irritated the older male and now everything that teddy did or said would annoy the crap out of him. so for instance, where as anyone else would see teddy's gesture with the flowers as sweet and polite, justin just found it to be irritating and maybe even view it as teddy flirting. which was ridiculous but to justin it was completely logical. tabby was sorry that her brother had to witness that but she'd only feel apologetic for so long before she too became irritated. she looked over at justin who looked as if he wanted to throw the guy out on his ass for even being in his house and she knew the only reason why he didn't was because his son was there. tabby feared if rudy hadn't of been present things would have went a completely different route.

she frowned slightly when he dismissed her offer to help, almost as if she didn't even speak. a low scoff escaped her as she turned around and stared down at the table. tabitha wouldn't be surprised if justin was in there spilling his guys to his beloved wife right now. "asshole" she muttered quietly to herself. it was definitely going to be a long night but with jessica and rudy here, things hopefully wouldn't spiral out of control. she looked down at rudy and teddy, not at all really paying attention to what they were saying - she was focused on the laughter coming from the kitchen. tabby lifted her shoulders up and down slightly as teddy looked to see if she knew what it was all about. fuck if she knew, all that she did know was that she wanted this to be over as soon as possible. she couldn't control time, so she just had to sit here and squirm. i can't tell. how am i doing? one of her brows lifted as she gave him a look that read, are you serious , all that she could respond with was a laugh while shaking her head.

he was fucked. there was no doubt about it in her mind, theodore frazer was done for. unless he somehow made his way on justin's good side during this dinner but she want too sure if that were possible. the morning temper was hard to comeback from once it started to take shape from within. teddy had defiled his baby sister, even though tabby was far from innocent but she knew justin still had hope for her. whatever, that ship sailed long ago. she placed herself in the seat next to her brother and starred digging into her chicken parmesan. tabs was in the middle of cutting when she heard teddy compliment jessica on the meal. "definitely, so i know justin had no role in this at all.." she jabbed, trying to help lighten the mood. everyone who knew justin as well as jessica and tabby, knew that his cooking skills weren't exactly the best. tabitha had learned that from her days as a young child, a lot of nights just settling for a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

the table was pretty quiet, except from the clanking of silverware hitting the plates every now and again. she figured that a certain someone would be drilling the bodyguard with questions about himself. her attention had been focused on her plate and maybe, just maybe if she would have looked up at teddy she would've noticed what he was doing. the last thing she wanted to do was fuel the embers to flame and make the situation more unbearable. the girl leaned forward for her drink, as she took a sip her eyes bounced around the table until she landed on teddy. he was staring at her a little to closely. her eyebrows furrowed as she set her drink down and shook her head. what was he doing?

After the talk with Jessica, Justin felt just a little bit less apprehensive about the new man at the dinner table. Teddy didn’t know the rules yet. Justin, however, was aware that Tabitha had debriefed him about Justin’s temperament. Anyone who knew of Tabitha’s shouldn’t feel too comfortable with Justin’s. Though the two were different in almost every way, the two carried down the family’s impatience. Justin could see it in his own child. Apparently, Teddy was simply idiotic. Making out on someone’s porch wasn’t the most tactful action, but Justin tried to forgive him as the two sat at the table. No matter where the man sat, Justin could keep an eye on him. He relented, though, trying to allow Jessica a mildly enjoyable night by not roasting Theodore in front of Tabitha, who was sure to throw a fit if he did.

The only sound Justin paid attention to as they ate dinner was Rudy’s mumbling. He had created a habit of talking to himself when no one else would, which was typical for lonely kids. As hard as Justin and Jessica tried to be with him, the boy was accustomed to entertaining himself. The couple had worked their way up to a beautiful home by saving their money and spending frugally so that having kids wouldn’t be a struggle. Now that they had reached a point of optimal comfort, it didn’t seem fair that Rudy had to sit around while his parents spent their way working so much. Once the second baby came, though, they were sure to make adjustments. Jessica didn’t want to stop working, but she wanted to lighten her load so she could be around her children while they were young and psychologically vulnerable. Justin wanted no one else to become closer to their children than their parents. Justin smiled at the boy, glad that Rudy was being nice to Theodore. It was a little bit of mercy if Justin was going to give the guy a nice little talk.

When it came down to protecting Tabitha, Justin was passionate and very intelligent. One could say that he had his own motives to it, but all of his reasons were from love. The only odd reason was that Justin was never there for her as a teenager. He had focused on his goals as a linguistic guru and psychology major. On top of that, the man joined the military and spent time overseas for a while before coming back as a publicist. He had his way in the field as a perk of being a former intern, but being out of the game for a while had kicked him hard. Getting back and adjusting to civilian life was truly a challenge. Now that he was used to it again, though, he was sure that he was ready to protect Tabitha by any means. After being hardened by his training and Iraqi experiences, he wanted to make sure that nothing got near harming his baby sister or his new family.

”Thank you, Theodore,” Jessica smiled lightly at Tabitha’s bodyguard. She took another glance at her husband, who was too focused on eating his food to allow himself to be bothered by the interaction. ”You know, Justin makes some pretty great food as well. He just gets a little bit… too brave… with the recipes…” she diverged, biting her lip to stop the sentence. Rudy laughed and swung his legs again. ”Daddy’s special is… peanut butter and jelly!” he almost squealed as he waved a fork in his hand. To no one’s surprise, the utensil dropped on the floor. Rudy hopped off of the cushion that was elevating him to the table’s level for comfortable eating. As Justin watched the boy, he noticed a strange sensation on his ankle. He ignored it at first, but that was no issue, considering his son spoke for him.

”Auntie! I think Ted-Ted likes Justin more than you!” Then, to make matters worse, the boy roared in laughter on the ground instead of retrieving his fork. Horrified, Justin stood abruptly, wiping his mouth with his napkin before addressing Theodore. ”Considering your enthusiasm for playing footsie with your host, I suppose you would like to take this –“ He would have taken Theodore outside, but Jessica’s contorted face – horrified, mortified, and confused – told him that he couldn’t ruin her dinner. He was about to drag Theodore outside, but now that his wife was giving him that look, he decided better of it. ”It’s okay,” he suddenly said, taking his seat slowly. Theodore Frazer, as thought by Tabitha Morning, was officially fucked.

Teddy could try to get on Justin’s good side if he let it show that he wasn’t good at cooking either because at least they would have one more thing in common, but it was probably best not to lie to him to be liked. Teddy did cook and he was really good at it. Teddy just hoped maybe Justin would warm up to him in the future. He understood where this man was coming from and he also realized if Justin was anything like Teddy, all he really needed was to give him time to adjust the rules he had set for his family. Maybe they weren’t announced, but they were still there and Teddy was going to try his best to follow them. Obviously this meant staying away from Tabby’s personal bubble space when Justin was around. Or at least not get caught. He wasn’t doing such a great job moving away from her space when they were at the dinner table. The bodyguard may be sitting across the table from Tabby, but he still didn’t want to keep his hands off of her. Er…well, in this case, it was his feet. She did give him a weird look when he did it, though. As if she was playing so innocent that it almost felt like she was telling him to get his foot away. Then again, if she wanted it away, she would’ve moved it, but she didn’t. The silence continued to build up and Teddy realized that maybe it was for the best that they were quiet. There was no reason for them to say anything, thus making the chances of awkward conversation a little less. He picked up his drink and put it to his mouth as an attempt to hide whatever look he probably had on his face as he saw Tabby’s weird one. ”Auntie! I think Ted-Ted likes Justin more than you!” The water he had been drinking spat out just a little as he quickly swallowed it, coughing now as he tried to recover from almost choking on the water at Rudy’s words. Fucking shit. He really hoped at this moment that Rudy had been mistaken because from what the kid just said, Teddy realized this wasn’t Tabby’s foot he had been stroke. Before he could even recover from his coughing, Justin was standing up. Shit! This was it. He was fucked. He moved his feet back to himself, clearing his throat. He really didn’t want to get kicked out. Or worse: get fired. Or even worse: fight with him. He should’ve aimed accurately with his feet, that’s what he should’ve done. Or better yet, just behaved like Tabby told him to. None of this would have been happening if he did that. He wanted to defend himself, but what the hell could he say? That he thought it was Tabby? Once thing was clear: Justin knew the footsie wasn’t meant for him. Maybe that’s what made the man react the way he did and at this moment, he was ready to be taken outside, but all of a sudden, something in him changed. ”It’s okay?” Wait what? Really? He looked over at Jessica who was practically staring down at her husband even though she was still sitting. He should thank her for that later. Should he apologize? Explain himself? Make excuses? Did the “It’s okay” really mean it’s okay or did it mean, “I’ll screw up your face after dinner”? He looked over at Justin when he was seated again and then at Rudy, avoiding Tabitha’s face altogether. It wasn’t her fault, obviously, he just felt like even a glance in her direction would tick Justin off to a point of no return. He cleared his throat again, taking another sip of his water. as she glanced around the table once more, her eyes landing on her brother who seemed to be more interested in his food rather than the small talk that jessica was having with theodore. even when they mentioned justin's cooking ability the make didn't say anything, just pouted at his food like a little kid. whenever tabby and her brother argued he always accused her of acting childish, now he was the one utilizing the antics. as much as she wanted him to speak up and join in on the conversation - since he was the one who wanted this meet and greet, tabitha realized that maybe it was better for him to sit there and sulk. i mean, it was better than him chewing theodore out in front of everyone. she shot jessica a look when she attempted to defend her husband's cooking honor. "don't feel obligated because he's your husband, just admit it...justin is a terrible cook." she grinned before giggling. "he sucks.." she added before she let her laughter continue to ride out.

it didn't make it any better that rudy agreed with her, his huge grin and laughter only fueling her to continue on. she crossed one of her arms over her abdomen whilst placing her other hand on her face as she started to calm herself down. after a moment she returned her attention back to her food as rudy got down on the floor to retrieve good eating utensil. though she had to admit that his pb&j's were some of the best she ever tasted, perhaps because he made them with care and love. who knew. she was his baby sister, so she had the right to bust his balls every now and again. auntie! i think ted-ted likes daddy more then you . at his words she quirked an eyebrow in confusion, her eyes went from rudy, to teddy and then to justin who looked like he was ready to end dinner with teddy out on his ass. tabby jumped back a bit as justin stood up abruptly, her hand latching onto his wrist, hoping that he wouldn't take it any further.

"justin, can i talk to you for a min-..." her voice trailed off towards the end as she placed a small frown on her face. all of a sudden she had a wave of nausea hit her out of nowhere. her gag reflex kicked in and she clamped a hand over her mouth to keep anything from coming out. with a quick movement she shoved herself away from the table and ran to the nearest bathroom. tabby held it in long enough for her to girl herself at the toilet, everything that she just consumed had came up and went into the toilet. her hands gripped the seat as she ride through the heaves until there was nothing left.

her body temperature had been cranked up to what seemed like a million and one, the jean jacket becoming too much for her so she shrugged out of it with little finesse. she closed her honey brown orbs, making sure she didn't catch what was doing inside the little bowl, she reached up and flushed the thing before collapsing back against the wall. with her eyes still closed, she tried to focus on nothing but cooling her body off and attempting to keep the dry heaves from happening. what the hell was that all about?

There was a chance that Theodore would be able to find mercy in Justin's heart. There was just a tiny inch of a shot that he had to make Justin like his company. Justin was aware that Theodore was actually a nice guy, but the body language he detected between the bodyguard and his little sister was ridiculously offensive. Justin was naturally protective of a little sister he felt he had abandoned as a young woman. Even now, those days flashed into his mind. In the days of being in the marine forces, he remembered sitting and thinking about how his sister was dealing with their drunk of a father and the hole that was left by the loss of their mother. Though he would do anything to go back and change his mistake, he couldn't, and he overcompensated with his possessive attitude and impassive approach to the men who wished to enter Tabitha's life. It was his responsibility to be the older brother. Now that she had Samson, he didn't have to worry about filling in the role of hre dad.

Rudy's laughter mixed with Tabitha's fear, Theodore's horror, and Jessica's obvious need for solace made the whole room feel like a circus. Justin didn't feel committed to pummeling Theodore. In all truth, he was acting out of impulse, wanting to find the next reason to beat the guy to pulp for being so conspicuous about the fact that he and Tabitha had been together in a deeper way than they should have. Tabitha was young and she hated kids. What made the guy think she was sticking around? Who said he had the right to mess around with a younger girl? Who said he could walk into Justin's house, charm his family, and act like it was okay that he was unraveling a shit storm? Even with Jessica's relaxed attitude, Justin couldn't accept the fact that he was going from meeting a nice guy like Hunter to some meaty douchebag. For a moment, he wished he could just make a rule that Tabitha couldn't date co-workers. The fact that she was so unprofessional lit something up inside of her older brother as he stared down the bodyguard before him. His anger suddenly flashed to his sister, and when he sat, it didn't dare leave his mind.

He had to stay calm. Jessica rested her eyes steadily upon him, hoping that he wouldn't ignite once again and do something he would regret doing in front of Rudy. The boy climbed back into his seat, still giggling. He saw Justin's face, though, and tried to straighten his lips into the same stoic look. Justin had not a trace of a smile on his tan face. Instead, he stared at his plate for a few moments after glaring at Theodore. He didn't feel satisfied. He wanted Theodore out of his home, but he couldn't bring himself to do that in front of his kid. He didn't want Rudy to see his father with his panties in a bunch about something so seemingly trivial. He was too young to understand sex and deception and heartbreak, the three things that came with being a Hollywood actress. Justin could see that his sister was no longer the innocent one, instead the one polluted by fame. He hated these things about her, but he was powerless to change her, and he was forced to watch her make mistakes like Theodore.

Justin barely listened when Tabitha began to speak once again. There was so much tension in the air as the man began counting to ten. For the sake of Rudy, he needed to be alright and treat the night like he would dinners with Adam. When he heard a chair scrape on the wooden floor, though, he looked up to see Tabitha running to the restroom. He and Jessica looked at each other for a split second before following the same movements and rushing to where Tabitha was. There had been episodes before -- fights at the dinner table that caused Tabitha to run into the bathroom were not uncommon when two people like Justin and Tabitha were trying to be there in each other's lives. This was different, however, and when Jessica laid a hand on her husband's arm to calm him, he realized that he probably looked distressed beyond comprehension. Something felt off, and he didn't. He turned around to look for Theodore, but he went into the restroom without anyone's permission and kneeled down to Tabitha's level. By habit, Jessica got the girl's hair out her way, but it was a little bit too late. It was a gruesome scene.

Justin stared at his sister for a moment, questioning why she was so nauseated. As big of a drama queen as she was, he couldn't recall when an emotional situation made her through up on command. "Don't tell me you drank before you came here," he frowned. He couldn't tell why she looked so ill, but it didn't even look like a drunk's complexion. She looked sincerely sick. He laid his hand on hers. "Okay, do you want to tell me what's going on?" he asked. The worst thoughts of disease or sickness were coming to him from nowhere. As angry as he was with her, he needed her to be alright. Rudy stood at the door and, at the sight of his aunt in such a state, began to cry. "Shit," Justin mumbled.

Teddy smiled at Tabby when she jokingly insulted Justin’s cooking. He didn’t want to interject, the family bonding was just too cute for him to butt in. It would have been nice if that moment stayed there…the moment were Justin was still kind of smiling, even though he didn’t want to. The moment where Justin may have wanted to consider giving Teddy a chance. Honestly, Teddy was at the point where he expected them to head to a den and have some nice manly chat with cigars between their fingers. Why was he so stupid? If he kept his hands to himself—well, feet in this case, something like that could have happened. Teddy’s eyes were on Justin for quiet a while, but he didn’t know why. There shouldn’t be any fear in his eyes—considering Teddy was bigger and all—but there was. And the fear wasn’t of getting hurt. At least not physically. He didn’t want to know what would happen if he was told to stay away from Tabby all of a sudden. It would make sense after what just happened. In fact, he wouldn’t put up a fight if Justin wanted him to leave, but Teddy really didn’t want to leave. Jessica and Tabby didn’t know, but they just did a huge favor for Teddy. If Jessica hadn’t stared him down and Tabby didn’t grab onto his wrist, there was no saying what Justin would’ve done and what would’ve happened to his relationship with Tabby. If you could call it that at all. ”Justin, can I talk to you for a min—“ Teddy wasn’t looking at Tabby speaking until she stopped in the middle of her sentence. That was when he looked up to find her frowning. She didn’t look so good. Well. That was a lie, she always looked good, but something about her face told him she didn’t feel too good. Before he knew it, she was rushing out of the dining room and he imagined she had barged into the bathroom before only seconds later, he heard something that didn’t sound so good. Swallowing the little bit of his bite that was still in his mouth, he put his fork down and looked up at Jessica. Should he go after Tabby? He was surely worried about her, but was it even his place to run after her when she had an upset stomach in her brother’s home? Well, he was her bodyguard after all. He tried to make a joke about the food and how it really wasn’t that bad…it was delicious like he had said before, but maybe there was some other reason Tabby hurled. Maybe she didn’t feel good before either. It was weird, though, considering she was just fine before they came here. Hell, she wasn’t even drinking. Or else he would’ve made some sort of comment about it when he last kissed her. Er…correction: when he last kissed her before they were at the front steps of Justin’s place. Besides, she was far too much in her right mind to be drinking enough to actually hurl. In fact, a part of him would even be hesitant to bring her here if she really was. Wait…he was already hesitant. I don’t know what I’m saying anywhere. It did make him wonder, though. The last time something like this happened all of a sudden, his girlfriend ended up pregnant and he ended up with Suzie. At that very moment of realization, his eyes widened as he looked from Jessica to Justin and then to Rudy. Looking at the kid relaxed him a little. No…she probably just had an upset stomach. Why would he so quickly jump to conclusions? That was stupid. He was just full of stupid today, wasn’t he? Yeah…Clearing his throat, Teddy straightened up in his chair, shifting uncomfortably. He had lost his appetite. ”Should I…?” He looked at Jessica after Justin left the room and walked off in the direction Tabby went. He wasn’t sure if he should follow. As her bodyguard, it was his…well, somewhat of his duty to see if she was alright. As the guy who was sleeping with her, it probably wasn’t a good idea. Which one was he supposed to be right now, anyway? After thinking about it for a moment or so, he watched Rudy head after his dad, which made Teddy get up and follow him. When he reached where Rudy stood in tears, Teddy stood behind him, a little afraid to see the sight in front of him, but he did anyway. Now Tabby really didn’t look good. ”You okay, Tabs? Wow, that was a stupid question. ”I mean…” He didn’t know what he meant. ”Do you want me to drop you off at your place?” That wasn’t as stupid a question, he thought.
