Had she truly put aside everything she thought made sense and was down ward dog spiraling out of control. Out everyone that she had thought she'd share her first kiss with, she had never considered the dark handsome boy that she'd stolen a toy from in daycare all too many years ago, to be it. It wasn't even that she had considered him a brother or ever dubbed it gross, it had just honestly never crossed her mind. Donovan Kaine and Drew Halsey always just had each other, he was the one she could count on, the one that she told all her gossip to, if she had any. Now as she hugged her knees beside the Hollywood sign, she stared down at the city below. It contained of all things, dreams, thousands of them, and then there was Donovan filming his new movie, that she'd pushed him to take. She closed her eyes, a silent tear falling falling from her hazel eyes, spilling like water droplets down a glass pane, down her ivory cheeks. She didn't even bother to wipe it away, she was completely alone, to deal with her troubles. Donovan's face burned into her eyes, whether they were closed or open, his disappointed face ate her away. He had seemed so in control even as he carried her out of the bar that night, she was like floating on the sea, the way he carried her, she had absolutely no fear of her support beams to give way. He was solid and even the symbol of hope on so many occasions. He'd been sober enough to recognize the drunken blabber that often caused a scene on her end. It was like the night of celebration was meant for failure, all the hints he'd been dropping like bread crumbs for Hansel and Gretel and she'd ignored them completely, every single one of them lost to mother nature as they were covered by the earth that had grown around it. Now, God only knew what he was thinking or where he even was. She hadn't had the heart to call him the moment she woke, her normal calls felt alien, like a Christmas tree lite up with lights in the heats of July, out of the normal. She had even told him she loved him, but in her mind it seemed so childish, so innocent. To him, it was like opening the door to the deepest of confessions. How had she past the time without even knowing what was under her nose the whole time. She'd always been chasing the idea of a Prince to wisp her away and admit their love for her, kiss her and run away with her, and her she was pushing away a Prince that had every play in the book about how to make her happy. She shook her head, before it lay a rest against her knees. It was a hot day in California, go figure, she'd kill for the weather that New York had to offer, in a place so different for her, it would be a welcome to be comforted by her own surroundings but she couldn't even have that. How was she going to get through it alone? She felt the tears run freely, the strength that she had held onto for so long was drifting away and she was powerless to stop it. with a lot of places to run |
