Full Name: Andrea Maria Guadalupe Nolan-Melendez

Reason for name: Andrea was a name that Anna liked. In fact, Andrea had been the name of Anna's best friend growing up. Maria is a common name in Hispanic communities because it represents the Virgin Mary. Guadalupe is the Roman Catholic icon of the same saint, though it obviously bestows its own story. In Spanish cultures, children have two surnames. Being that her father is Richard Nolan and her mother is Anna Melendez, she must take on both.

Birthday: January 9, 1992

Sexual Orientation: Andrea had not always been set firm in her heterosexual orientation. In high school, she went through a period of denial, questioning whether or not she cared for the same gender. Many argue that you can't "choose" your sexuality, but Andrea chose to refrain from experimenting due to her mother's beliefs; however, she supports homosexual relationships. Love is love.

Political Views: Andrea is a registered Democrat. Growing up in poverty helped cultivate her views on the matter. She believes everyone should be treated as equals, and the people should most definitely hold the power.

Religious Views: Being that Andrea was originally from Durango, Mexico, her mother raised her under Roman Catholic beliefs. She was baptized as an infant, and she began wearing a chastity ring after moving to San Diego in seventh grade. Her ring is a silver band with “True Love Waits” engraved into the band’s interior. Andrea used to attend Sunday morning mass with her mother every week. With her new responsibilities, she attends mass whenever she has time to do so. She does not support abortion, and the idea of salvation is something she does consider.

Hobbies/Interests:

Acting - Obviously, acting is something Andrea loves to do. She enjoys stepping into the shoes of a new character. Interpreting the character and bringing a script to life is absolutely thrilling.

Songwriting - Although she's slowly deciding music isn't the right path for her, Andrea loves to write songs. Combining lyrics and melodies to create a piece is a huge stress-reliever. Expressing her emotions through song is a healthy way to cope with stress.

Guitar - Andrea's uncle taught her how to play guitar when she was thirteen years old. He gave her a guitar and lessons, too. During high school, friends and a guitar class she enrolled in helped her to become a better guitarist.

Singing - Musicals were definitely her favorite pieces to perform in theater. She loves how fun and upbeat they are. Honestly, Andrea isn't the strongest singer. She's always fought breathing techniques, so that's probably her greatest downfall. Zeroes is her first job requiring her to sing, so she's pretty excited about the show.

Surfing - She's new to the surfing scene, but Andrea absolutely loves to ride the waves. She's a frequenter of the beach. Whenever she can get her hands on a board, she tries her best to improve.

Baking - Very sexist, I know. Andrea loves food. More specifically, Andrea loves sweets. Cookies, scones, brownies, tarts, and pies are all in her recipe bank. Baked goods are her go-to presents whenever she can't think of anything more materialistic.

Arts and Crafts - Drea loves taking random junk and creating masterpieces with it. She hasn't been able to focus on artwork as much as she'd like due to her busy schedule, but she's hoping to find some time in the near future.

Cities of residency:

Victoria de Durango, Durango (Mexico) - Durango is located in the northern region of Mexico. The weather is semi-arid there, so the average temperature is about 66 degrees Fahrenheit. Anna’s family grew up encompassed by the 10.9% poverty rate of the city (as recorded in 2003). Durango consists of a mildly artistic culture. Music and handicrafts are popular at the annual celebration of the city’s founding in 1563. After Richard left Anna, she made the difficult decision to immigrate into the United States to escape the poverty she couldn’t seem to shake.

El Paso, Texas - El Paso sits on the Rio Grande, across from the border from Chihuahua, Mexico. There, Anna provided for herself and Andrea illegally until she applied for citizenship five years later. The area in which they settled in El, Paso was mostly middle-class. Initially, Anna couldn’t pay for a place to live. It was in El Paso that Andrea actually lived a nomadic life on the streets for a month at the age of six. Afterwards, their situation grew less unstable. After six and a half years in Texas, Anna once again packed their bags and moved to San Diego to meet up with a few family members that had immigrated there.

San Diego, California - This populous Californian city was by far Andrea's favorite place out of the previous two. She was almost twelve when Anna decided to move their family to San Diego. For awhile, Anna and Andrea lived in the home of her relatives. Once Anna was able to raise enough money, she purchased a small apartment for she and her daughter to live in. It is the very same apartment Andrea moved out of to pursue her dreams.

Los Angeles, California - In April 2012, Andrea moved to Los Angeles after landing a manager. Although she was hesitant to leave her mother, Andrea knew the move was necessary to carry out her blooming career as an actress. There, Tabitha Morning and (previously) Hunter Vega allowed her to stay in an extra room in their apartment.
