there's no where else i'd rather be
Ryland and Ray, although eager about their relationship, had location issues. Besides the fact that both of them were working actors, they also lived on opposites ends of the country and it was rare that they were able to see each other. Ryland would be faithful though, because she had wanted this relationship with Ray ever since he took her on their first date in Arizona. There was a dynamic between the two that worked, and Ryland didn’t want to give that up. He was also a gentleman to her, he was also unpredictable and an adrenaline junkie, which she liked. Ryland didn’t mind being kept on her toes, it made for an exciting relationship. After all of the Skype dates, texting back and forth, and four hour long phone calls in the middle of the night, they were going to be together for a while, driving down the famous Route 66.
Route 66 went from Los Angeles, California to Chicago, Illinois. This was going to be a long trip, possibly a couple of weeks. They would be driving through seven states: California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Illinois. A lot of people would hate to be stuck in a car with someone for that long a period of time, but considering the two rarely got to see each other and they had strong intimate feelings for one another, Ryland assumed that it would be easy. They were going to take her car, which, was definitely a car that a multi-million dollar actress would drive, there was nothing modest about it. She would have liked to have driven down the Route in an old Chevrolet car, but she wasn’t renting a car for their long ass trip and nor was she going to want to worry about it breaking down on them. They would obviously take turns driving, and Ryland wasn’t that good of a driver so Ray was in for an interesting trip. She loaded her trunk with her bags, that she had been working on packing for about a week now, because she knew that if she procrastinated she would forget something. She also wasn’t a great packer, so she was sure she would be missing some things.
Ray flew out to her so they could start their trip in Los Angeles, they had gotten to spend an extra day together (hope it’s okay that I said this!) and waking up had been a pain in the ass for both of them. Ryland cooked the two of them a hardy breakfast and she even packed a few meals. The amount of preparing that Ryland had done for this trip was remarkable considering her personality, but she enjoyed cooking so it was actually fun for her. She showered and threw on the coolest and most comfortable clothes that she could think of for riding in a car that weren’t sweat pants and a t-shirt. She tucked her Pink gradient tank top into her acid washed shorts and slipped on a pair of Toms. She practically skipped out of the house, ”Do we have everything?!” She mostly was asking herself. She had this feeling that if Ray would be taking this trip alone, he was pack nothing. He just seemed like that kind of guy to her, but Ryland preferred clean clothes and being fed, so she went the lame away about it.
She turned to him and walked over to him, wrapping her arms around his neck, pulling her face close to his. She smiled, ”Nonstop together through seven states and back, hopefully we don’t kill each other.” She joked. Ryland hoped she wouldn’t get on his nerves, that was something she tended to do, get on people’s nerves that is. But she was laid back enough and avoided confrontation and ignored problems to an extent that if they did have a problem there wouldn’t be any fighting, just silent treatment or her letting him have his way. She kissed his lips tenderly and then pulled away from him, putting on her aviator sunglasses. ”Let’s ride.” She said in the most dramatic tone of voice before she walked out to the car.
