i know what i am, so let me be
It was moving day. Carina was taking a big leap of faith with deciding to move in with Noah. She didn't like living with people, she never did to begin with. She didn't room with anyone in college and didn't have a roommate when she moved out of the family home. She was an independent woman who liked her own space. She liked her space in a particular way and she was more than certain that having someone else around would only create chaos within her more than orderly life. But Noah and her had been dating for some while now and it was that time. The time to take things further in their relationship. She wasn't a naive twenty something year old anymore, she knew what she wanted in life and wouldn't hesitate to go through with it. She wasn't getting any younger and she had seriously doubted she would be having set another one of those relationships. A relationship where they were actually going somewhere. It wasn't a ruse to create the illusion of company when she got lonely. This was the real deal.
To most she didn't seem like the kind of woman to care that much about love. But she was a romantic at heart. She liked all of that cliché mushy stuffy, she just didn't let that on. She had a reputation of course. Many reputations, the one at the front of her mind was her reputation to screw things up in a relationship when things were going good. It was a bad habit that caused her previous three marriages to fail but not matter how hard she tried to prevent that from happening, she always did something. Her relationship with Noah was a mystery to most. He was the complete opposite of her, laid back and a genuinely nice guy. How he had ended up with her was questioned by many, and on the odd turn, questioned by herself. But for some reason they clicked, Carina enjoyed his jovial attitude. He was good for her, in a way he made her want to become a better person. But that was only around him, she wasn't about to change that easily. That wasn't her, but she did make the effort around him.
And though he could infuriate her with his childishness and goofiness, she loved him.. a little bit. They were yet to say those words, but they knew how they felt about each other, they were mature -well Carina was anyway- to not need the constant telling of each others affections. Which was why she was more than ready to tackle the challenge of moving in with him. It was certainly going to be a challenge. "Hey be careful with him!" Carina yelled to a scrawny boy who was helping with the move, he was carrying the fish tank with Bernie into the new house. He looked like a clutz and just about ready to trip with the tank in hand. He jumped and nearly did just that, Carina shook her head and sighed. This would be the first time she would actually be moving into a home rather than an apartment. Another big leap. "Have you seen Noah?" she asked one of the more burly movers, he shook his head before carrying on into the house. Carina bit on her lower lip anxiously, wondering where on earth that man could have disappeared to.
