As exciting as the new project had been, she was pleased to be done. Now all that was ahead of her were press tours and premieres. Arizona wasn’t as bad as one may have thought, infact Lola couldn’t remember having that much fun on set in a long time. The driving, the action scenes, the pretending she knew anything about cars. It beat playing some sunshine sorority sister any day. Despite the perks she’d missed California. It felt like she’d moved back, stayed for five minutes then jetted off across the country to right after. Having spent the last few years based in New York she was eager to get back into the L.A swing of things. An awesome house, sharing with her baby sister and progressing further in career. Now home for good, she felt a sense of relief. As cheesy as it sounded, she could smell the beach as soon as she’d stepped off the plane. A night had passed since that little nostalgic moment and Lolly found herself with the day off. An extreme rarity. What was a girl to do with a day off in this fair city? Shopping? Tanning? Spa day? Lola was certainly not a fan of any of those options and knew exactly what she was going to do. Leaving the house, she smiled as the sun belted down on her pale skin. Something about gorgeous weather always made her feel alive. Energy was never something she lacked though. Today’s activities were about as lazy as Lola Colbert got. Rounding the corner she could spot her destination. Possibly the best place in town to get burgers. Quiet, a great view of the beach and burgers to die for. She’d been craving one since she arrived from New York and that was months ago. Her tiny body couldn’t wait any longer. Popping her sunglasses on, she gave a slight smile to a group of teenagers who had already recognised her. Lola didn’t mind fans, they were what kept girls like her in business after all but she wasn’t in the mood to have her first day off get started with awkward hellos and photo opportunities. Upping her pace she made her way to the cafe and took a seat outside, the perfect position in her opinion. Perfect view of the beach with just enough artificial shade. Stretching out a little she made sure she was entirely comfortable. Reaching into her bag she got a hold on her phone and placed it on the table. A smiled popped onto her face as soon as the waiter came to take her order. Was it sad she got this excited for greasy food? Probably but she didn’t care. ”Hi there. Can I please get a deluxe burger with fries?” she asked with a chirp in her voice, ”Oh and a diet coke”. Not that the diet coke would make up for the plate of fat she planned on demolishing. The credit was best given to one of the cameramen from the set of The Resurrection. He'd been one of the few people Derek learned to tolerate. While no one was completely impossible to work with, there were a handful of people he couldn't hold lengthy conversations with. Juliette was usually flaunting her girlfriend on set, and Donovan was strangely reserved. Derek had the tendency to seclude into himself. Donovan completely constructed a sound-proof shell to live under. As for Bernadette, or Beej for short, he didn't have much to complain about. She was spunky and a tad eccentric, but she certainly knew how life should be led. That's what he appreciated in her persona. No simply wasn't an answer, and she was willing to get her point across, no matter how extraneous it might be. Derek had invited her along for lunch, but she declined his offer and decided to do whatever a wild Beej does. Her rejection hadn't been taken poorly. In fact, Derek was almost relieved when she claimed she had other things to do. He'd grown fond of the time he was able to spend with the men from the set, and there wasn't anyone better to discuss work with than another man. Girls often brought the dramatics of a set onto the table. Personally, Derek could do without hearing about who'd slept with who. The mind was capable of producing disturbing images, and he'd had his fair share of illustrations accidentally penciled into his mind by overhearing various conversations. Sex had always buzzed through his life, yet never before had he lived in a generation so intrigued. By no means was Derek the portrait of class; however, he'd learned long ago that certain topics were best left for the bedroom. "Let me get this," Derek insisted, reaching for the check as the hostess presented the black folder. The cameraman and his buddies from the lighting department hesitated before finally agreeing to his request. The hostess flashed him a friendly smile and whipped away to take care of his check. In the meanwhile, Derek sipped the last of his lime diet coke. His day looked relatively empty from that moment on. He figured he'd head home and work on some yard work. He couldn't say how long he'd been putting off trimming his oak out front. Weeks, maybe. Months? Either way, it needed to be done, and Derek rose from his seat with the full intent to head home and do just that. Unfortunately, life couldn't be so gracious. About halfway through the restaurant, Derek's ears picked up on a voice from sets passed. Lola. Lola Colbert. The sister of his ex-girlfriend. Lola. Derek dropped his head at the sight of her eating alone. He hoped that he'd be able to slip away with her unbeknownst of his presence. He was two steps away from freedom when he realized Lola's eyes were pointed in his direction, so he stopped and waved. There was nothing more women like Lola loathed more than being blown off.
