SHOW ME HOW TO GET BY
Delilah was spending the day doing something she loved. She was spending the day with a few of the kids from a childrens home she worked closely with. She had always been fond of children, even wanted some of her own. Which was why she was so keen to help any child in need in anyway she could. She travelled abroad at times to less developed countries, visiting the kids, reading to them and helping with their learning. It was something that the young woman felt was her duty. She herself had a relatively great upbringing and she thought it was only right that every child was given the same chance to do so. She made it her duty to do at least one thing a month to help them out. With her hectic job, it was sometimes hard to get time off which was unfortunate because she had become less active since she had gotten into the industry.
But despite her now busy schedule, there she was in downtown LA on a basketball court with a handful of young children. She was fairly sporty, but even she had to admit it was effort to keep up with the little ball of energies. They were a talented group of children, Delilah knew they could achieve so much. But they believed where they came from and their background handicapped them from achieving their best. Most of the boys were already showing early signs of defeat, they were getting into trouble, hanging out with the wrong crowd. It was a shame to see a life wasted so effortlessly. Her workload meant she had less time to travel abroad to visit the children she had spent the most time with, but it also meant she got more familiar with the kids around the neighborhood. It meant she was able to help more as she was quite literally a drive away to help with any problem. It also meant she was able to give the older ones better opportunities due to the contacts she had acquired during the industry. It was a win win situation really.
"Alright, time to watch the master at work" she joked teasingly to the group of widely spread children. She bounced the ball a few times, laughing at their comments of her being too old. She went on her tip-toes, imitating a pro basketball player and aimed for the hoop before throwing the ball towards it. She hoped the ball would go through the hoop but she knew it was a longshot, she couldn't make that distance. She watched as the ball flew, shielding her eyes as the sun glared at her. As she expected the ball went straight past the hoop, not even touching the backboard. She laughed and shook her head, the kids playfully mocking her 'master skills'. "Alright, alright." she said in a bid to calm them "clearly the wind is a lot stronger than we thought" she spoke before jogging in the direction the ball had flew in. The brunette stopped a few metres away, she searched for the ball still keeping an eye on the children however. She soon spotted it in the distance, near someone "Hey! Could you throw the ball?" she shouted as she raised one hand to shield her eyes from the beating sun to get a better look at the person.
