F.A.Q: Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is there a character limit?
- No, you may play an unlimited number of characters. However, there is a post requirement to keep creation in moderation.
Your first two characters are freebies, but you must have at least 15 IC posts on each of your first two accounts before you can create a third character. After that you must have at least 20 IC posts on all previous accounts for each new character you want to create. If at any time we see that you are unable to juggle all of your characters we will ask you to get rid of one.
2. How many threads are we allowed to have at a time?
- As many as you can handle. This could mean two for one person and ten for someone else. Just be reasonable and try not to overwhelm yourself. You may think it's rude to turn down a thread with someone, but it's even more rude to take on fifteen at once and not respond to some (or any) of them for weeks. Use your best judgment.
3. Since this is an entertainment industry site, what jobs can my character have?
- There are four main member groups that your characters can join: actors, crew members, management and entourage.
Crew members work behind the scenes to help the film process along. Movies simply can't be made without these guys. Management help guide the actor's career (think, well, managers) and the entourage are employed by the celebrities to help their lives run smoothly.
4. So what are some crew/entourage/management jobs?
- This is a work in progress, but if you look at this thread you will find a brief description of the types of jobs you can get involved in. Keep checking back as this thread will continue to be updated over the coming days.
5. This is a cool idea! I think I'm going to create a celebrity.
- Sorry, but you can't create a celebrity right off the bet. Just like in real life this is a process that takes time. To become an A-lister you need to start at the bottom and work your way up the hierarchy. How do you do this? By posting, signing up to work on shows and networking with higher-ranked celebrities! Don't fret you'll be raking in the big bucks in no time. (The same applies to crew members.)
6. Since I can't make a celebrity, am I allowed to give my actor another title?
- When creating your application you can choose from five groups for your actor: Hollywood legend, seasoned star, it boy/girl, unknown or indie actor. Legends are old-timers who have been in the industry for ages. Seasoned stars can be any age, but have starred in many movies/shows over the course of 10 years. It boys/girls are typically in their early twenties and have starred in a blockbuster hit to bring them instant fame (i.e. Daniel Radcliffe). Read more here.
7. Can I play a citizen/talk show host/paparazzi/reporter...?
- No. The idea behind TI is to experience the film industry from the perspective of the people directly involved in the filmmmaking process, i.e. the actors and film crew. To add dimension and diversity to the game we allow you to create members of a celebrity's entourage and management team, but these are groups that have continuous contact with the celebrities. Therefore they are likely to build lasting relationships with them over time since they are a pretty big part of their life. Relationships with fans and paparazzi tend to be more unstable, short-lasting and less personal.
8. When signing up for movies you say 'first in best dressed'. What does this mean?
- First come, first serve. Whoever signs up first gets the role, unless an admin feels a character is not best suited for the role. This could be due to something such as scheduling conflicts or age difference (i.e. a 20-year old signing up to play a 40-year old).
9. Are you only allowed to post in the city your character lives in?
- Heavens no! What would be the fun in that? We have many boards so take advantage of them. Your characters are allowed to travel! Maybe s/he is on a business trip, visiting friends/family in their hometown or just needs a vacation and wants to go sight-seeing. Actors and film crew are always traveling for film shoots and oftentimes assistants and stylists are required to accompany their celebrity employers. The possibilities are endless so be creative!
