you look at me and i look at you
[atrb=border,0,true] Blake had not spoken to Keani outside work throughout their business trip. After the meetings and their frequent mini-trips to DC, they usually went their separate ways and being where he was now, he wished he had checked up on her more often than he did already…which was none at all. Once again, he found himself feeling like an asshole who was a stranger in his own skin…he hated to imagine who she saw him. Seeing the airlines cancelled on the airport app on his iphone was nothing more than a disappointment. It wasn’t that he didn’t mind staying here, but when he didn’t have anywhere to go after checking out of his room, he wished he could just go home now. And it didn’t help that he had gotten almost no sleep the previous night and desperately needed one now. He had been to get some on the plane right back. The lack of sleep kept his mind even more unfocused with lead him to failing to see what was obviously obvious to everyone else: the big storm. Hearing Keani’s voice on the other line had him changing his flow of thinking entirely. He may have remained calm, but on the inside, he was freaking out. After hearing her voice, he calmed down on the inside as well. Not only that, Blake had decided to forget about his frustrating situation completely and direct his attention towards the woman on the other line. She was clearly out of breath as if she’d just been running or something, so that’s why he had to ask where she was. ”I’m in my room…” He sighed in relief, more relaxed than ever as he listened to the sound of her voice, unable to think about his own problems. She was alright…right now, that’s all that mattered. The lights were out, so she must be a little spooked, but he knew Keani. He was familiar with her strength. Just a tiny spook wouldn’t weaken her, but he was still unable to forgive himself. He wasn’t around; Blake was blaming himself for not being there for her while she was alone. He didn’t know a lot about women, but he figured they didn’t like being alone. He could have at least made her feel like he was there for her in the same building whenever she needed him. Hell, he didn’t even know what room she was staying in. ”Are you alright? You sound a little shaken up.” He looked around, keeping his tone even, despite the little bit of concern in him. The lights were fine here, but in the hustle and bustle, he doubted it could get more hectic if the lights did end up going out. ”Would you like me to come up?” He asked, forgetting completely that she had asked if everything was okay not too long ago. He wanted to ask her if he could leave the little luggage he had until he found a place to stay, but he figured she had enough to worry about it. ”You’ll be alright, just stay calm.” |
