marcus had always been what one consider a good boy. he prided himself on being raised right and honestly he wasn't quite sure if his latest life's development would fall into that category. then again much of the world had moved on from the age old thinking that marcus had been raised in. it seemed like nowadays people were raised under the assumption that all you needed in life was to run around like a chicken with your head cut off just in order to try and accomplish anything. marcus was raised to try and accept the world around him for what it was and to understand that even though the world may be rushing around you that there was nothing more beautiful in life than slowing down and letting things happen as they may. it was hard to see marcus as such a person seeing as how the industry made famous work of quickening the way life happens. you shoot a movie and sometimes it makes its way into theaters some five weeks later. then you have the movies that are made just for the pleasure of it all. the movies that people don't have to make trillions of dollars off of but one that was made simply to tell the story and to make something a person to be proud of. marcus would love to have done a lifetime of those kind of roles but lets face it, he had to support himself and others and he couldn't live just on indie flicks that though they told an amazing story worth hearing, they didn't bring in the big bucks.

superman was that for marcus. of course he loved the role and all that it promised to bring him should it be successful, but it wasn't one of those movies you picked up for the script. it was about the show, the flash, the explosions and the hero winning out overall in the end. it was a classic tale of next to nothing but as long as the viewing public enjoyed it then it made marcus' involvement all the more worth it. but people's reactions to this movie hadn't even been on marcus' mind for weeks it seemed. now all he seemed to care about was his life's newest leading lady, holland cartwright. she was every bit as amazing as she'd been back a few years when they'd been friends but something about them was so different now. he couldn't see her as just a friend, he saw her as plenty more. they'd made a point of keeping most things about them quiet, because let's face it no one likes their business blasted by unwanted opinions, but it was more than that. not only was it no one's business but they knew nothing about the way holly and marcus were together. most people seemed to forget that they'd been friends for a long time and that they'd already gotten past that stage of getting to know one another and learn about all those different quirks, wants, needs, aspirations, etc. they had long been past that and people didn't seem to realize that there wasn't much that they didn't already know about one another aside from a few little details here and there that in the past just weren't worth the mentioning.

but no one else's opinions mattered anymore. they hadn't even been together long and already they were settled in one place together and, as of recently, were expecting a baby. that was the one thing marcus had always known was a possibility and was a future desire, but something he really hadn't anticipated happening so soon. he couldn't be bothered with the mechanics of it all or even how or when it had happened, all he knew was that his future with holly was just a little more intertwined now. he didn't care. marcus still planned on asking her to marry him some time in the future and he honestly had no plans on ever letting her go so this chance happening was just one more thing in their lives that they would want in the future. marcus knew that holly wanted kids and that she would be good for it. he also knew that holly's best friend was pregnant as well, making things just a little less awkward for her in a sense. maybe this was the perfect thing to happen to them.

he had been in kitchen, making his cleaning rounds in an effort to make the load just a little less for holly when she was to come home the next day. she liked to clean up their place and act very housewife-ish but marcus didn't like her coming back from a flight all by herself only to want to clean up. basically he was trying to be thoughtful. he hadn't expected for her to come walking through the door as he was finishing up cleaning the counter tops though. he stuck his head out into the hall as he heard the door open and close, seeing that familiar blond head of hair fluttering in the breeze as she relieved herself of bags. marcus tossed the rag onto the counter and walked down the hall to greet her, wrapping his arms around her waist and dipping his head to her neck as he pulled her in tight. "i thought you'd be getting in tomorrow." he said with a smile.

sure they could say that people's opinions didn't matter but for the most part those important opinions did matter. for holly the opinion of those long-standing people in her life and her friends really did matter. her parent's opinion really did matter, her friend's opinions really did matter, etc. for marcus he cared about what his family had to say most of all. he would admit to not having a lot of friends. before holly, marcus had been one hell of a workaholic and had made a point to never have an overabundance of down time. he had been fine with just having his family to rely on should he need it just as he had been there for them all their lives. he was fine with not having as much of a backing for his relationship as long as the people closest to him understood that he was happy and wanted nothing more than that for him. it was the opinions of those outside of his relationship and outside of his close circle that he didn't care about. he wasn't popular amongst the tabloids which was a good thing but some people still seemed to think he was moving too fast, people that need not share their opinions on something they knew next to nothing about.

them being pregnant was probably going to be one of those things that people would shun them for but to marcus none of that mattered. he was happy, he was getting an early start on what he already wanted to do with holly, etc. so to that marcus could say that nothing else mattered. still he wanted her to be happy and having strangers harping on their relationship, and in the future on their current situation, wasn't something he wanted her to experience. marcus knew that he couldn't protect her from everything and that he couldn't get rid of this problem, but he made a point to try and offset that by being there for her and being a shoulder she could lean on when things got tough. he certainly did hope that she didn't have as much of a problem with the situation as he thought she might be having. when he'd talked to her via text she certainly hadn't seemed to be as excited as the news had made him. of course it was a shock to his system as well but this, to him, was a good thing. there was nothing wrong about this situation as far as he was concerned. he simply hoped she felt the same way.

he was glad to see her though, there was never any confusion about that. since they'd found one another in this way it seemed to have really made a difference in his life. now instead of just working to pass the time and because it was something he loved, he found someone that could be a part of his life in conjuncture with what was going on now. he nuzzled her neck with his nose as her arms wrapped around him, enjoying their closeness and the way her scent filled hi nose. "we certainly do." he smoothed his hands over her back as he straightened. "i almost can't. i always knew this was where i wanted to end up but i didn't think it would happen so soon." he kissed her lovingly for a moment before pulling away, a slight, curious smirk on his lips. "how did you manage the flight without alcohol?" he asked with a chuckle.

marcus was so happy about this situation. of course he was happy about holly's pregnancy. he was the type to want a big family simply because he was raised in a great family environment. he knew just how rewarding it could be under the right circumstances when a family felt whole. he felt it all the time with his own sisters. after all marcus had successfully lived in a family of six and he honestly couldn't imagine not carrying on that same tradition with his own family. because to marcus there was nothing better than having a ton of people who you grew up with that you knew you could trust. to him there was nothing better than a big, warm familial atmosphere. of course he did intend on making this situation with holly a permanent one. the good, reasonable thing would have been to marry her first before taking a big step like getting pregnant and starting a family but he didn't want to just marry her because she was pregnant. that came with the connotation that they were only getting married and making themselves a family because of an obligation to the child and that wasn't the case. marcus had wanted to marry her first and make an honest woman out of her before anything happened but this was the card they were dealt. it meant waiting to get married but in the meantime they were still together and that was all that mattered to him. he didn't want to lessen the meaning of their relationship by having a shotgun wedding for obvious reasons.

he wasn't the type to not appreciate what she was doing for him either. marcus knew that this probably hadn't been in her plans and that she could have easily decided to end thing and not even tell him about it in the first place. he almost wouldn't have blamed her if she had decided to abort and wait until things were more settled in their lives. yes, it was true that they had just moved in with one another and they were making plans for something much more permanent but even something like this needed an adjustment period. throwing a baby into the mix was a risky move and though marcus was damn sure he could handle it, he wouldn't have been mad if holly hadn't been ready. marcus knew that this was all just way too unexpected and that all of this was just a lot for either of them to take on at once. he wanted holly to be comfortable with what they had and though she seemed more than willing to be involved in this, he knew that it was a lot, fast. he wanted to be with her and he wanted to be with her forever but even he had to say that this was a lot to take on in a short amount of time. he in no way wanted this to end. he was happy about this situation as long as she was happy. marcus supposed that it was just nerves taking him over. he still had to tell his family about this woman he was totally, completely in love with but now he had a little tidbit that he needed to tack on.

in all actuality he was just happy she was home. this place just tended to feel so much more full and welcoming when she was there. not to mention the fact that he, himself, felt all the more whole with her around. he liked having that familiar, warm body next to him in their bed at night and loved waking up next to her. he couldn't help but smile as her face lit up. he loved seeing her smile more than just about anything. "i'm so glad you say that. i was so scared that you were gonna hate me for this. you sounded so scared over the phone and i couldn't be there with you." he said as he pulled away from her kiss and nodded. "anyone who isn't happy for us doesn't matter. as long as the people close to us support us then everything else should be moot." his breath caught in his throat as holly put his hands on her stomach and a slow smile crawled over his lips. "we certainly are. you want a boy or a girl?" he asked with absolute curiosity. himself, he could be happy with either gender, but he was curious as to what she might prefer. "well i'm glad you remembered. a few days in and you're already thinking for the child instead of yourself. i love that about you."
