shorten the application?

OKAY SO THIS IS CRUCIAL. well not really, but it's important enough. anyway, so from past experiences it's come to my understanding that people these days are getting lazy and lacking muse quicker than they used to. don't lie, admit it. i do too. XD in other words, long applications KILL.

so, i've heard from the cbox that people are interested in shortening our application. to be honest, i don't know why i made it long in the first place. my bad, i'm sorry. so do we wanna shorten it? and how should we shorten it and why? let us know!

well anna, i don't know if the application needs shortened. true, it is kind of lengthy, but that's only because of the history and personality. both take thought, and if we don't have those things, people won't have as developed characters. more characters would be lost and forgotten if the application is shortened, i feel.

I find that loves, hates, quirks and that section is the hardest for me to come up with. I can tell you what exactly their personality is no problem, simple as can be, but writing what they love and hate is hard for me for some reason for me.

perhaps we could have them list 5 words that describe their characters personality, and a brief description as to why it does. It would make it easier for them to write up, and for us to check as well, lets be honest, who honestly wants to read through a bunch of rambling a person has put in to make the length requirements? thats right, no one.

I'd say that history could be shortened to, giving 5 events that define who they are today, rather than giving the whole life story, which is also a drag to read through.

Well, I actually don't mind the personality section. I really enjoy fleshing out my characters, especially when it comes to personality. It's the history that kills me, because there's ever so much to write for adult characters and it just kills a bit of me for every paragraph, you know? I would make the history a bit easier to write. I like Ciara's idea, because it would make it so much easier to write instead of smashing my head on my desk to think of something interesting and not cliché or boring to read.

personally, i think its fine just the way it is ! i think its just people are used to the interview style of apps and you could do that but i think it should be more detailed than just one line answers cause apps really do flesh out your characters even if they dont end up the way you intended ! i think the personality two paragraph thing is fine and reallly easy, but if you want to shorten it, i would just say only have the bullet point option, but if someone already has the history it would be fine? idk. but i like it as it is.

^{well hey, im a newbie and i just did the application. tbh i didnt find it all that bad. ive honestly done worse. i like shorter applications but i think people benefit more from having a lengthy one. plus, i dont know whether this is just me or not, when im plotting with a character i like to go back to their applications and see what their like and their history. so i would say, keep the same sections definately. but maybe lower the word count? that way the important bits will get said and its easier to not make a cliche character. just my humble opinion :] <3}
