loves. girls, sex, europe, france, travelling, dancing, working with famous people, his sister, vacations, acting, tequila, his ego, showing off, being the best, being looked up to, taco bell.
hates. his father, driving long distances, strawberry milkshakes, being inferior, being denied, being lost, sardines, trust, fires, golf, anything he's not good at, cheats, super sluts, small dogs
quirks. even though his main goal is to sleep with girls, he'd rather date a classy one for three months to get in bed with her than do a slut. when he's nervous he looks at the clock or his watch. he always puts on his left shoe first.
aspirations. travel the world, choreograph an award winning show/movie, actually forgive his father for the turmoil he put the family through.
secrets. he misses his mother, despite the little he knows about her; with the rest of his family and their morbid hate for her he doesn't let it slip he'd like to see her again. he'd like to ballet dance in paris, and he doesn't tell for the obvious reason of, most people would think that's gay.
personality evaluated.Greg's number one priority is himself. He's got the mentality of looking out for number one and no one else. Ever since he was kicked out of the house before he even hit high school, there hasn't been anyone he had to look after but himself. He's not anti-social by any means, but he does know how to take care of himself when he's alone. He can be very friendly, and he can be very shut off at times. It's really just hit or miss. The only time he's completely himself is when he's dancing. It's really his passion, and there's nowhere he is happier than on the dance floor. Although a lot of guys think dancing is gay, he doesn't think so. It's just like fighting, only more graceful. Everything is worked out and there is a certain style of doing things, but of course he likes to shake it up. He doesn't like monotony, and will do just about anything to keep himself and everyone else on their toes.
He has a very paternal side, which makes him kind of caring to those he's very close to. With Kate, when they were growing up, he felt like it was his job to take care of her, and he still sort of feels that way. So anyone that can get under his skin and make him care (not that that's been done before) will see a different side of him. He doesn't show it often because it can be viewed as a weakness. He's sort of cocky, though he doesn't call it that. To be perfectly honest, he just knows how cute he is and uses it to his full advantage. He knows when to smile at a girl and how far it will get him. He's not afraid of chivalry, though most of the time it isn't for real. He'll hold doors open for girls just because he knows it scores points with them. He'll take them out to dinner for the exact same reason. He does know how to treat a lady, but he doesn't think any of them are even worth his time or worth the trouble to put up with.
Greg isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Though he can be pretty full of himself at times, he isn't opposed to a little manual labor. He has worked to get where he is today, so he's not completely lazy when it comes to improving conditions for himself. Like if he's fixing a car, as long as it's for himself or he can say he fixed it, then he'll do it. But if it's helping a friend move into their new apartment, he'll be sick that day. He can be a real asshole, of course. His semi-traumatic past has made him slightly bitter to anything that hurts him, or could potentially hurt him. He has an eagle eye for trouble, but usually gets himself into more of it than he keeps himself out of. No he doesn't have a criminal record, he's too smart to get caught. He actually is very smart and perceptive, though not in the way most people would expect. He's wonderful at reading people and their body language; something dance has taught him over the years. He catches on to just about anything pretty quickly, because he views it all like learning a dance. Putting together cabinets has many steps that must be done in order, much like a dance. But how you perform those steps is left up to the creator, much like a dance.
Greg is actually pretty nice under his superficial exterior. He can seem very shallow and often is, but he has an understanding of character and will keep you around if he can tell you're a good person. But if you're not good looking or if you're detrimental to his image, he probably won't hang around with you. When he wants publicity, he'll hang around with important people, but when he needs an ego stroke he'll find some inferiors to associate himself with so he looks better. It's all sort of a game with Greg, you just have to try to guess which side of him you're getting that day.

history evaluated.Charles and Katharine Peterson only intended on having one child. After Jennifer, they felt their family was complete; happy as the typical mother-father-daughter trio. But when Jennifer turned eleven, Katharine found out she was pregnant. At first it was the end of the world, but by the time Gregory James was born they all became accustomed to the idea, regardless of the huge age difference between Jennifer and Greg. As they brought him home and Charles got more used to the idea of having a son, he became pretty excited. He got to have a son, one he could teach to be just like him to carry on the family name and legacy. He began making wild plans for Gregory even when he was just a toddler. He set up meetings at Oxford and Harvard, all the ivy league schools that he knew his son would be capable of attending even though he could even speak yet. One might say he went pretty overboard with it, and Katharine would agree. She just couldn't crush his spirits, though. Charles was just so excited to teach his son to drive, play sports, send him to good college, brag about him to everyone at work... the usual things fathers can do with their sons.
But it was more than wrecked once Katharine got pregnant again and gave birth to baby Kate. Greg loved Kate from the moment he saw her. He was only three, but he can still remember her being brought home from the hospital. He was an excited little ball of energy, running around under the care of his teenage sister. He couldn't wait to meet his baby sister, someone he could pick on and play with basically at will. They'd explained it to him dozens of times he couldn't play with the baby until she got older, but that didn't seem to dampen his spirits in the lightest. He was, actually, very gentle and caring with her until she was old enough to run around with him. They were practically inseparable, always playing games together, Greg's favorite being hide and seek. He wasn't sure why he liked it, but he definitely did. But then came the huge blow. Katharine, suffering from extreme depression, just up and left her family of three children and a growing alcoholic as a husband. Greg was devastated. He'd loved his mother, and now with just his grandmother as a shoddy replacement he felt abandoned. But being an extremely optimistic child, he moved on every day knowing, hoping she would come back to them. She never did, but his abandonment got covered up by everything else.
Other than not having a mom, he was just like any other normal kid. When he started going to school, his grandmother enrolled him in karate to keep him busy. After a couple months, it was clear that he wasn't flexible enough to do the complicated things involved with knowing how to break people in half, which led them to take him to gymnastics. This was where he found his true passion and inspiration. The gymnastics studio was right next to a dance studio, and had an adjoining door which Greg made use of sometimes to go see some of the little girls next door. He watched them spin around gracefully and jump through the air. He was really turned on to it when he saw the male dancers doing the same thing, lifting the tiny girls into the air. He was struck by the precision and beauty of it all, the sheer gracefulness it demanded from a person. It was like music put into actions, or poetry stripped of its words and placed in the muscles of dancers on stage. Greg knew what he wanted to do with his life, even when he was six. He wanted to dance.
However, when he told his father it was sort of the first chip off the cornerstone of their relationship. He still remembers telling his father, drink in hand, that he wanted to dance. Charles did not take it well. He went on a screaming rampage about how his son was gay, how he would never amount to anything if he danced. Greg was vehement about pursuing his dream despite his father's bad attitude. He let it drop, not wanting to disappoint the only real parental figure he had left. At least until middle school.
In the sixth grade, Greg made friends who taught him about rebellion. They didn't teach him sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll, but they did teach him that not following orders was okay. That's when he started sneaking behind his father's back to join theatrical productions put on by his school. His sister, Jennifer, was more than supportive, only wanting to see her little brother succeed. The more Greg got involved with his passion, the less and less tolerance he had for his father. The alcoholism the man now faced was overwhelming, especially when Jennifer moved out and left the two defenseless children with only their grandmother for protection from the often violent man. Every month it got worse and worse, the fights that occurred between Charles and Greg over ambitions, dreams, life goals, morals... just about everything Charles wanted Greg to be, he was not. And Greg didn't want to be what his father wanted, he wanted to be what he wanted. Every night it was more and more pressure to succeed academically, when all Greg wanted to do was dance. He didn't want to struggle with all this algebra and grammar. Not that he was dumb, but he just didn't like many subjects, so he wasn't exactly great at them. But Charles desperately wanted him to get the grades to go to Harvard, where he could learn to be a professional. Greg didn't want that.
The final straw came when Charles learned his son had been dancing in plays for three years, as Greg was preparing to transition into high school. During this particular fight, things were thrown and broken, both objects and words. It eventually led up to Charles ordering his one and only son out of his house for good. Even though Greg was broken and devastated, and he didn't want to leave little Kate behind, he had to get himself out. He was miserable, and he knew he'd have a better chance at accomplishing what he wanted if he left. So with the aid of his grandmother, he found his cousins living Iowa who were about ten years his senior. He settled into the small town quite nicely, one of the first things he told his new "family" he wanted to do was pick up dance lessons. This segment of the family didn't have all the cash to burn that the Petersons did. So he learned from his cousin Frank and worked part time at his auto shop to pay for the dance lessons he started taking. It started out at ballet, like he was told for the basics. He was happier than ever, eventually moving on from just the basic ballet to hip hop, and other styles of dancing that he found more interesting than pirouettes. He involved himself in the high school dance team and after his senior year, he knew what he needed to do.
He went back to Massachusetts for the sole purpose of finding his sister. He waited for her to walk home from school and when she did, he pulled her into the bushes where he was waiting. He'd gotten her a camera, since he'd always fueled her desire for photography. He wanted her to have her dream since he was getting his. Not only that, but he'd set up an interview for her with a college of arts in Europe, where she could study without dealing with their father. He'd been setting it up ever since he left there, and now he was finally letting her do what she loved. He was back to Iowa without contacting anyone else and continued learning to dance. He enrolled in the University of Iowa where he majored in dance, but he soon transferred to Juilliard and finished his college there on a full scholarship. While there he learned to teach people to dance, and dance better himself. He found his true passion was teaching others to become better dancers, and he found a job at a local studio teaching dance.
At twenty-two he graduated with dreams of choreographing movies, which was what he started to do. Along with making up the dances he also served as a backup dancer for pop stars and movies involving dancing. He's happy with what he's doing now, but eager to make it to the top and prove to his father that, even though he isn't a lawyer or doctor, he's still successful doing what he wants to do.
