ruby isn't a very complex person. she is the kind of person who embodies the saying 'what you see is what you get'. of course, like anyone, there are a few exceptions. she does keep a few, very small parts of herself hidden from the public. other than that, she is a very open individual, not caring for secrecy or letting others have the opportunity to spread rumours or lies about her. she doesn't hold herself back and often seems overwhelming because of her showing so much of herself to anyone and everyone. complete strangers often feel like they know her in a matter of minutes because of her inability to keep herself contained.

another thing that may be both welcomed and despised about ruby's personality is her inability to censor herself. she has absolutely no filter between her brain and mouth and tends to blurt out both inappropriate and uncomfortable things. she voices thoughts of her own that may be completely off-topic. it is one of her odd habits that some find endearing and others find unacceptable.it certainly makes her job more interesting. while rehearsing, she may often halt and ask odd questions about what she's doing. however, when she's shooting, she is a complete professional. she is able to be serious and contain her thoughts when needed, although she does not like the feeling. regardless, acting is her passion. being someone else is an amusing activity and she loves it.

one of her biggest faults is her clinginess. when in a relationship, she tends to get very insecure and clings to her current boyfriend, which often has the result in pushing him further away from her. her inability to trust men stems from her rocky relationship with her biological father, someone ruby has been out of contact with since she was eleven. she does not believe that a man can really stick around so she has to hold on with them with all her strength. she constantly calls, texts and tries to arrange dates. she becomes dependent on them, which probably isn't that odd. she is very dependent on those around her for a lot of things and she doesn't like to live alone. it is the reason she brought her dog, maxx with her from kansas to los angeles.

• was born in kansas to bruce and kate carr in kansas. her mother left a year after her birth and she lived with bruce who was a criminal; involved in theft and drugs.

• when she was five, he was arrested for armed robbery and was sentenced to fifteen years in prison. ruby went into the system and was sent to a foster home.

• she was moved around for five years until she was placed in a home with the kendall's. they adopted her a year later and ruby has lived with them since then.

• ruby discovered her love of acting and began auditioning for commercials and school plays and whatever else she could in the area. her passion became apparent when she won the lead in annie.

• at the age of eleven, ruby stopped speaking her father. she used to write him a letter ( with the help of her foster parents at the time ), but after receiving a particularly harsh letter, gave up on maintaining a relationship with him.

• at twelve, the kendall's realised that ruby's dream would be easier accomplished in LA and she moved to los angeles to live with her aunt kate and kate's daughter, bethany.

• at fifteen, she secured a role in degrassi: the next generation. it was her breakthrough role and she won her first award for her performance in it. she met her first boyfriend on the set and they dated for a couple of months. it was a petty relationship, like most are at the age. it lasted a couple of months and he treated her badly. ruby ignored that and cried for weeks after they broke up. it was then that she decided that she didn't try hard enough and gave way too much in each and every one of her relationships after that.

• at eighteen, she got her first part in a movie called 'the cross roads'. she won another award for that role. ruby then realised that she wished to act in big movies, as well as on television. she wanted her name in lights and for everyone to know her.

• at nineteen, she moved into her own place and bought her puppy, maxx. she's been in love with the dog ever since.

• six months after she moved out of her aunt's house, she got into a serious relationship with a guy. she fell head over heels for him. he didn't seem to mind her need of him and the pair dated for a year. eventually, the relationship ended because ruby was afraid to sleep with him. it left ruby heart broken, but she eventually got over it.

• for the past two years, ruby has been trying to find some more work, finally succeeding in securing roles in two films, one as a lead and the other as a supporting role. she is hoping that roles will come easier to her now.

imogen was very tuned out to reality as she waited for her cousin to show up for a girl’s day. she and rona were close, despite the dispute between their families. imie had never really been one to allow the opinions of others to influence her, so she ignored the constant warnings about rona and her mother. imie couldn’t have cared less about it. rona wasn’t her mother. imie wasn’t her mother. the two were their own people and could form a friendship if they preferred.

these troubles were not the reason for her inability to stay tuned into reality for more than a few moments. she had indulged in some marijuana before the appearance of her cousin. she would have preferred something a little stronger, but she did not want to be completely out of it for the arrival of rona; something that imie knew the other girl would not appreciate. she had smoked a little, but it was still enough for her to enjoy a small buzz. it was relaxing and she was able to sit still with little issues concerning her present state. it was preferable to the dancer. the only issue was that she was craving food of all kinds. she had already ordered pizza, chinese food and some indian for the pair of girls. even if rona would not eat much of it, imogen knew she would make a considerable dent into the vast amount of food and whatever the girls did not finish would be consumed by imogen’s roommate and long time best friend when he returned the apartment that he and imogen shared. even though the food was a bit much, imogen was put at ease – even though she was not really worrying – by the fact that her roommate would consume it, so her money would not go to waste.

a knock on the door caught her attention after a few moments. "it’s open!" she called, her response slightly delayed because of her current condition. it wasn’t really enough to be noticeable. it was less likely that her present state would be noticed because of the precaution she had taken. imogen always kept eye drops in the bathroom. she had put some in her eyes, so the white around her irises were completely clear. it was a trick that the dancer had learned a long time ago. it was a reason she was able to get away with doing what she was doing for as long as she had. she knew some tricks to conceal her addiction to those around her. it was a habit to take those steps. she even did it in front of those who knew her little secret. it was just better to be safe than it was to be sorry.

the familiar frame of her cousin walked through the door. the pair were so similar in appearance, height and build that they were often confused for sisters. it was flattering for imogen, considering that she thought rona was one of the most gorgeous people she had ever laid eyes on. the moment the young model walked through the door, imie stood and pulled her into a tight hug. "what took so long? i’ve missed you, hoebag!" it probably did not take rona that long to appear at imogen’s apartment, but with the dancer’s current state, the ability to tell time was not at its greatest. instead, she would just enjoy the company of her cousin’s for a girl’s day.
