Izzy's life seemed normal enough, if you didn't count his parents' career-driven attitude. They loved Izzy to bits, sure, but sometimes their jobs just came first. Being merely a child then, Izzy couldn't understand why his parents weren't spending as much time with him as they should have, but he got used to that attitude the older he got.

When he got hooked on the show 3rd Rock from the Sun, Izzy always found himself pointing out Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character and saying that he wanted to "be like him." This gave his mother an idea, as she knew that Izzy was growing up, and what better way to help kids grow up then to throw them in a career at such an early age? Richard was resistant, as he had a stable job, and had many friendly contacts at his firm. He reluctantly agreed, however, when Brenda told him that the salary for a stock broker would most likely be heightened in L.A. than in Boise. Whether that was true or not, Izzy had no idea. The Sloane family found a suitable home in L.A., packed up all of the stuff they'd need, and shipped out.
Once they reached L.A., had all of their things unpacked and were settled in, Brenda wasted no time in contacting agencies and booking auditions with her son. Little did Izzy know that he was about to be launched into the world of child stardom. A local agency picked up on his talent, assigning him an agent, and he was on his way. Izzy began his career doing commercials, as most actors starting out do. Fortunately, after performing in a rather comedic commercial about vacuum cleaners, he was offered a role on a new show being developed for television, called The Enigma of Manny Donahue. It was a comedy-drama mystery series that centered around a man who suffered from short-term memory loss. Izzy played as the main character's son, Jake Donahue, but was only shown in five episodes, as he was introduced late in the first season.
After only one year on the air, the series was canceled due to scheduling conflicts with the rest of the programs in the lineup for the 2000 summer season. The network claimed that Izzy was too valuable to let go, though, and so they planted him in the starring role of an upcoming show, What About the Simons?. It was a sitcom about the fictional Simon family, with Izzy portraying the second youngest child Todd, whose antics were the cornerstone in most of the family's troubles. The show skyrocketed in the ratings after the fourth episode aired, and it lasted for three seasons before they had decided to call it quits. There were reports of quarrels between the cast members on set, and they were often linked to Izzy as the source. One headline in a local tabloid posed the question, 'are Todd Simon and Izzy Sloane really that different?', but Izzy never commented on the matter.
After the show was canceled, Izzy fell off the map. There were no more interviews, public appearances, or even a measly candid shot. His name began popping up on many 'Where Are They Now?' shows until September of 2010, when a picture from someone's cellphone surfaced, depicting Izzy outside of his new apartment, signing a lease. It was that picture, and the hype that surrounded it (no matter how good or bad it was), that brought Izzy to come out of hiding and begin working once again, but this time expanding his horizons to include movies as well. Izzy knew that he would have to start at the bottom and work his way up, but he enjoyed the challenge.

Being confined to his house has left Luca's relationship with his parents strained, and there wasn't a way in hell that the strain would be lifted; unless his parents suddenly came out of the trance they seemed to be in. When he complained that he would go mentally insane for being inside for such a long time, his parents' solution was that they'd make a house call, so Luca knew he was going nowhere anytime soon.
Luca sat on the living room couch, his eyes glazed over as the television played the same Friends rerun for the third time that day. Luca was beginning to learn every line by heart, until his ears perked up to the conversation his parents were having in the kitchen. Blinking his eyes furiously, they lost their glazed look and regained their normality. Luca's parents weren't discussing anything interesting, only that they were going to go over to the Connors' house for dinner that night. Great, that means more leftover lasagna for me, he remarked inwardly, the sarcasm evident. His parents were always over at the Connors' house. It's always 'the Connors this' or 'the Connors that'. It was almost like they were dating the other family, except dates never ended well, as Luca witnessed on more than one occasion on shows like Degrassi, 90210 and - pretty much every show on television. Life was filled with so much drama, that sometimes he was thankful his parents never let him out of the house. Only sometimes.

Setting a piece of it on a plate in the microwave, he began the timer and waited. It wasn't that he was against the Connor family; it was just that, his parents talked about them so much that even he was intrigued as to what they were like. It made hearing about them all the more unbearable, and he hated that he couldn't leave the house and meet them. What he also wondered was why his parents never invited them over. Were they contagious? Luca had read in a book that when someone gets sick, they can get other people sick just by being around them. It was a scary world out there, yet Luca longed so much to be part of it.
