loves. Acting, singing, doing voices for animated movies. Disney movies (secretly) even though he’s starting to get too old for them. Stand-up comedy, making jokes and generally laughing at things and himself. Guys (unbelievably he’s managed to get in some experience in despite his career revolving around Disney and kid shows because as it turns out, not all male teenage actors are straight). He is attracted to girls as well but doesn't have as much experience with them, Shane usually gets nervous around them for some reason. Being able to be himself and not having to worry about what people will think of him.
hates. Having to be a mature adult. Being treated like a kid (which his mother still does when making decisions about his career without consulting him or having a meeting and then ignoring him while discussing it with the other adults in the room). The sound of fingernails on polyester. Taking things too seriously. The fact that he does have an easier time with guys but has to stick to dating girls or looking like he's just dating girls. Relying on his mother’s opinion as much as he does. Jelly donuts.
quirks. The fact that he’s fine with fingernails on a board but hates them on polyester should probably be mentioned. He actually prefers the taste of diet coke, coke zero and pepsi max over the regular stuff. He makes jokes to keep situations from getting too serious because they sometimes make him nervous.
aspirations. To not be known as a Disney kid or a kid at all. To take on more serious roles and show that he does in fact have some talent. Make a few movies and have a great career.
secrets. He’s bisexual, let’s just get that one out there. He likes guys and girls (though not quite as much at the moment because most of them are indimidating) but can tolerate dating just girls for now just to keep that fact away from the public because it would be very bad for his career considering he still relies on Disney. He still finds the time to sneak out and go out with his friend doing the usual teenage activities (which unfortunately included underages drinking but no drugs though).
personality evaluated. Shane’s an easy going sort of guy that just takes things as they come. He’s not often serious unless it’s about his career. He usually spends his time being a kid but when there’s an opportunity to further his career in the way he wants then Shane wouldn’t think twice before jumping at it like a starved lion. He seems to think that this is the step toward being able be who he wants to be and shake off the ‘good kid’ mask he’s had on all his life.
Something about a regular movie or TV show seems like an escape to him. It’s a way out and Shane believes that it’s the only real option he can take so he’ll do anything to get there. However, his relationship with his mother (who happens to be his manager as well) isn’t the best it could be so discussions are out of the question and action must be taken.
In some ways, Shane’s whole life in an act. He is what everyone wants him to be. The good kid his mom needs, the responsible teenager the directors and producers need. The nice guy that the other kids can rely on. Rare is the moment when Shane is something other than what people want or expect. This has even started to become who he really is but the cracks show through with things he is passionate about like wanting to get a more serious role and be free of this ‘child star’ label.
When he's out and away from his parents or anyone who might care about what he's really like then Shane's got a chance to let loose a little and this often happens when he's just out hanging out with his friends. Usually it's a party at someone's house or just a random hang out on someone's roof. The first time Shane got drunk, he was seventeen and it was fun. He doesn't usually drink much but when he does he makes him less worried about his image and potentially ruining it.
His mother is incredibly controlling and even now Shane doesn't really know how to get past this. He can't find a good way of saying no and having her actually listen so the best he can do is go behind her back and hope she doesn't find out.
When he's around the general public, Shane is incredibly aware of his image and does everything to keep from appearing negative in anyway. He's more concerned about what people might think of him than any person should be.

history evaluated. Ever since he was a baby, Shane’s mother would drag him to auditions for various advertisements and sometimes Shane would actually get the part. As he grew older and learned to speak, the frequency of these trips increased and Shane found himself and various cereal ads with lines as well. Being a good looking Blonde kid, it was a little easier for him to get the parts his mother wanted him to get.
During this time, his father sat on the side lines, letting his wife take control of everything. That was just the sort of man he was, very passive and not willing to risk any sort of confrontation. This is where Shane gets a lot of that from. Personality-wise, he's a lot like his father. If anyone was actually capable of making the boy enjoy acting, it was Rodney Laurel. They had a great relationship and it seemed like Mrs Laurel would alway walk in when she needed something from them but that was life and they were used to it.
Unfortunately when he was twelve, Shane lost his dad. Rodney was diagnosed with cancer and little too late and a year and a half later, he was gone. Shane didn't take it well at all and did badly at every audition his mother took him to (because the woman still insisted that they should carry on because it'd be a distraction to keep them from getting too upset over the loss only it didn't quite work that way for Shane), and after a few months, she gave up. This break lasted no more than a year and after that things were back to the way they were. Shane still hates what happened but he never really talks to his mother about it. He can't really bring himself to talk to her about much of anything because she would never really listen.
As he got older he found himself doing for TV roles in kids shows and then soon it was Disney kids shows and then a lot of voice work for various animated movies as well as singing. He had an album out (which he wrote the songs for) when he was about fifteen or sixteen but this was only popular with the teens and pre-teens.
The next step was for Shane to go back to his Disney movies and TV shows but once he turned eighteen, Shane tried convincing his mother to let him do more serious roles. This still continues on with Shane wanting to be able to grow up and grow out of these teenage roles he plays and into something real while his mother continually insists than he should play younger characters as much as he can because they will be a lot of time for serious roles as he gets older. However, Shane doesn’t want to be a Disney kid forever and being impatient he fears that if he waits too long, any chance he might have would slip away.
He now resorts to fitting in time in his schedule to sneak off for an audience here and there in hopes of getting a job even his mother won’t say no to. Unfortunately this is proving to be more difficult that it sounds because Shane gets hired to play characters who are anywhere from fifteen to eighteen. What he wants is to play more characters that are his age and less that are younger. The problem here is that this is a world where twenty-somethings play teenagers and with his youthful looks Shane just can't break into a more serious role.

roleplay sample.Casper gripped tightly to the edgy of his t-shirt. It was just a habit of his that he had never been able to get rid of. Standing at the entrance to the food hall he bit his lip lightly in thought. His head tilted carefully as he stared at the counter at the end of the room. Behind the glass was all kinds of food and drink he had access to.
He had skipped breakfast but he wasn't particularly hungry. He just didn't feel all that great and it was only 11am. The hood of his jacket stayed carefully in place over his head as he stared ahead for another moment, contemplating the worth of getting something to eat. Maybe he needed a push or maybe he was better off just standing there.
His mother's voice was clear in his mind. She was always looking out for him and he knew she'd probably be bugging him about it all day if she was there, but she wasn't there, and she wouldn't always be there. This time he was alone in a new place, one that was suppose to be good for him and help him and all he could do was not like it at all.
Casper had been feeling very alone a lot lately and there wasn't a whole lot he could do about it either. His breathing was starting to get laboured and he was convinced it was just some anxiety thing over something stupid and that he'd just have to get over or die trying, but even now, every time he felt a little bad, the same thought would occur to him. New places were usually bad but standing in the hallway wouldn’t do him much good either.
Maybe his condition was getting worse. Maybe this was another step closer to the end. Sure, he could have another decade or more to live but sometimes things just happened. Maybe this was fate stepping in to ruin his life even more than it already had... Or maybe he was just over-reacting. That’s what he had done most of his life. Take things too far in his mind and end up being afraid of it all.
Taking a step forward, a definitive step, Casper tried to shrug off the negative thoughts as he made his way up to get some juice before he lost his nerve and did something more predictable like run back to his room and stay there all day. Sitting down at one of the empty tables, he stares at the juice for another moment as the whole thought process repeated itself again, weighing the pros and cons of the next logical step.
