WHEN YOU LOOK WITH YOUR EYES,
EVERYTHING SEEMS NICE.
it was a strangely nice morning in september, clear and crisp as summer began to loosen her grip on the world. the sun lounged in a light bed of clouds on the horizon, thinking about the day it would be spending in the clear, light blue sky. a young actress watched as the dawn faded into a lovely morning. her name, coincidentally, was dawn. dawn ellen liotta. her life had been rushing by her in a torrent lately, and she was quickly rising to fame. did she love and embrace it with all her heart? yes, dawn was obsessed with fame. but at the same time she was beginning to shy away from it. makeup was no longer an accessory to make you look prettier on special occasions. no, now it was an everyday must to hide the dark circles under her eyes and the faint wrinkles on her forehead.
so now when dawn was offered a bit of time to relax and take it easy, she used it well. this very day dawn was on her way downtown to shoot a a new lip gloss advertisement, but she had accidentally set her alarm clock a little too early, so she had two hours to spare before she had to make it to the building. by the time dawn realized she had woken herself up too soon, she had already taken a shower and dressed herself up, so she was much too awake to get in another two hours of sleep. instead she headed over to a favorite café of hers, le chat noir. halloween was coming that very next month, and black cats put a chill in the air. to dawn, who loved cats, they symbolized luck rather than the other way around as some believed. and so she strode into the little café with a soft smile on her sculpted lips, and the rosy color of a crisp morning on her cheeks.
dawn walked with a confident, happy gait over to a small table for two by the window. her frye boots made a sturdy clomp on the ground as she walked, but not obnoxiously, for dawn had mastered the skill of walking in thick-heeled boots and appearing graceful at the same time. she tucked her creamy knit skirt under her as she sat down and swept her soft pink scarf over her shoulder. she didn't bother going up to the counter to order, because if you arrived this early in the morning the café would serve you formally. sure enough, a waiter appeared beside her and asked for her order within a few minutes.
"ah, yes. i'll have a chocolate croissant, and a tazo chai, s'il vous plaît." dawn smiled at him and leaned back in her chair to await her breakfast. in the meantime, she scooped a newspaper off the windowsill beside her and began to read. nothing of interest caught her eye immediately, so dawn turned to the comics. perhaps it was her immaturity coming out, but dawn didn't think there was anything wrong with being an adult and reading the comics. most of the jokes were geared to adults anyway, and flew right over little kids' heads.
BUT IF YOU LOOK TWICE,
YOU CAN SEE IT'S ALL LIES.
