After spending what felt like an eternity in Morocco filming scenes for an upcoming action movie, Rob was now back in his new home of Los Angeles. Which he didn't like calling home because this wasn't home to him. It was just a place he was residing in, he didn't feel at home here at all. But it was necessary, he had so much work going on the past couple of months that he couldn't be living in a hotel. It was easier to have a place to come back to in between filming. So he now owned two flats (or apartments as the Americans called them), one in LA and one back home in the northwest of England. Now he could finally settle in to his new apartment! He didn't get the chance to before leaving for filming. Which for now, at least on the Morocco side of things, was over with.
Having to act out getting shot was sort of surreal. He'd already been there and done that, with the scars to prove it. To everyone else it was part of the script but to him, it was similar to real life. Aside from being shot successfully himself among the many times of being shot at, he had also witnessed a number of his comrades getting gunned down. And he'd seen the enemy shot too: he'd even done the deed himself. It was never why he wanted to be a soldier (though Robert couldn't deny the adrenaline rush a good gunfight gave him), he initially joined to drive soldiers. Be it in normal and safe environments, or in their time of need. He would be the one to get them out of a tense situation, or he'd die trying. It was after a career change that he got shot the first time, having wedged his leg between the door of his Snatch Land Rover to keep it open so he could stick out his SA80 rifle and shoot people down before they did the same to him and his team. Didn't even feel it after the initial burn from all the adrenaline pulsing through his body.
Usually he would be the one driving because of his previous training, but he was known to be really good with a gun when under pressure because of his uncanny ability to stay calm. And because he'd have made a great marksman, as he was told often by a sniper escort that his company had during their days in Basra. But he liked the idea of being in the EOD team better, he wasn't the man in charge but he still did his part to clear up bombs that were intended for either his lads, or innocent members of the public. The feeling he got from a job well done, was more rewarding than the one he'd imagine he would get from shooting people dead. There was a whole lot of reminiscing going on for Rob, except for that part where his character died considering Rob was very much alive! He wasn't the kind of guy who was damaged by his time in the army, he valued the experience and he was glad he did it. So it wasn't horrifying for him to take a role like this, in fact he had really enjoyed it. But he was glad he got to get home earlier than the other main cast members considering he didn't make it all the way to end of the movie.
Now in LA, he was on his way out to a local bar. Well, it was a bar/grill, had a place for people to eat and a bar for people to hang out in and chill, play some pool. It was the first bar he found and therefore came into when he bought his place nearby. And it made a damn good first impression! He was only out for a social drink as it was only around 5:00PM, he'd parked his arse on the nearest empty stool he could find at the bar and ordered a pint of beer pronto.
He was now on his third. "Cheers, mate." the Englishman said after the barman pushed forward a pint glass full of the elixir of life (or beer, as everyone else might call it!). He had a couple of days to himself and to be honest, he had no idea what to do with himself. Especially since he barely knew anyone around here. He knew fellow actors but most were acquaintances at best. Robbie cleared his throat, watching the sports on the bar's television with very little to no interest whatsoever. If it wasn't British rugby or an English football match, he wasn't into it much.------------------------------------------------------------------
