She smiled sweetly, trying to conceal the fact that she really wanted to laugh. Hayden was adorable, which probably wasn’t something that he wanted to hear. Actually, it wasn’t something that any male over the age of four wanted to hear. ”No problem.” she said with a giggle, not being able to hold it back anymore. She like that he was kind of shy, it didn’t make her feel so bad for being worried about entering the conversation with him. The fact that he was shy offset the fact that he was extremely outgoing and flirty. That wasn’t something she came across very often. And it made him more interesting, which was why she didn’t care to hide the fact that she was flirting. Anyone that happened to glance into the water, or float past them could see that. For once, she wasn’t worried about what the people around were thinking. There was something about him that made her divulge part of her past, and that was new for her. She would admit she liked him.

”Me too, me too.” she replied with little hope. She took classes twice a week. Not that she really needed to take classes, she was good enough to teach a class. But that meant that she’d have to put in twenty times the amount of effort than she did as a student. Of course, it wasn’t the same. Dancing in class was nothing like locking yourself in a studio and coming up with that routine that could change one’s life. Just thinking about it put a smile on her face, and she looked over at Hayden. It had killed her to give up dance, and there was no way that she would have if she didn’t absolutely have to. Even then, it pained her to work so closely with the industry that she would have rather been in. But hell, everyone had to deal with stuff like that in life. She’d managed just fine. She could imagine that was the way he felt about acting. Even if his love for the business was only a fraction of her love for dance, he still had more than enough reason to leave the world of doctoring. Kae focused her eyes, now a sincere shade of green, ”I’m pretty sure you won’t have to worry about your dream for long though. You’ll be a great Superman.”

The sun slowly repositioned itself and she watched the water as it formed around the lower half of his body. Kaesyn moved her hand, feeling a little weird for touching him longer than to steady herself. Or maybe she just felt weird for touching him at all, seeing as to how she didn’t really need to steady herself. She was surprised that this would happen to her right now. Kae hadn’t expected to meet someone that was this easy to talk to let alone actually attracted to someone. But she was glad she had. There was nothing that made a day better than making a new friend. And there was nothing better than making a friend with a guy like Hayden. He was sweet, and kind, attractive and, most importantly, he hadn’t tried to make a move right off the bat.

”I don’t think you have a problem attracting people,” Kaesyn laughed softly, ”That’s because I’ve worked so hard at being impressive. But, thank you.” she added with a smile. There was a slight pause in her thought process, mostly because she wasn’t really thinking about much of anything. She hadn’t been guilty of bumming in a while. It felt good to be back and going back to some of her old routines. She allowed the corners of her mouth to turn up as he continued to talk to her. When he said it all together, it did sound king of impressive. ”Only in theory,” she replied with a small giggle. ”You, Hayden Scott, will be the real triple threat. Just have to find something to add to actor and doctor.”

She didn't know him at all, but she was being so kind that he couldn't help but take the compliments personally. Her laugh made it all the better. He smiled back at her. Anyone who could see Hayden would assume that he was smitten with this girl or that they were already a couple. They didn't have to break the ice; it had never existed between the two of them. "I hope I do make an adequate Superman," he nodded back at her, his voice telling her that he was being pretty serious. Hayden wanted to show everyone and himself that he could take on this responsibility. There was a lot that came with being the world's new TV Superman. He was going to be someone whom little kids looked up to. He had to be prepared for that responsibility. "It won't be easy, but nothing worth doing is." Hayden could remember a few relationships in his life that meant anything to him these days, but he had to admit to himself that he could be very cynical about relationships. He didn't want commitments, even in his late twenties, and was choosing to be on his own until he knew that he was ready for a girl to stick around. A person like Kaesyn made him want to change his mind about that. Even during the first encounter, he wanted to know what she would be like if the two were to really spend time together. He could be gutsy, but a part of him didn't know if it would be wise to ask this girl out. If it got serious, he wouldn't know how to act. Being in a relationship was truly foreign to a person like Hayden. He liked to keep himself at a distance. It was what he was used to. "You don't have to try hard to impress me," Hayden told her honestly. That was his way of closing that conversation. The sun seemed to get hotter as the two stood in the water. Hayden was waving his hands in the water, restless and craving for movement. He couldn't help but chuckle once again. "I think a double threat is good enough. If I were a triple-threat, you wouldn't be exclusive anymore!" he exclaimed, flicking a bit of water in her direction. He moved closer to her, running a hand along her upper arm. He suddenly became rather serious, wondering why it felt so natural to be with someone this way. They had just met, after all. Meeting girls and bedding them was one thing when it was in the club, but meeting a girl and wanting to take her out on a date when it was in a beach setting was totally different. His breath quickened just a bit as he looked down at her. It felt like he should kiss her, but he didn't; he didn't know too much about this Kaesyn person, but a kiss was too far for her. He could feel that because, even with their chemistry, he could feel the way she held him at an arm's distance. Maybe that was why he related to her so well. When it struck Hayden that time was probably flying, he looked at the shore with a bit of distress in his eyes. "I should check my phone," he told her, abruptly ending the silence that had settled between the two. He felt bad for getting too close to her; he didn't want her to feel uncomfortable with him, especially since he was now debating whether or not he was going to make sure he saw this woman's face once again. He made his way back to his spot on the sand. [/style]

She didn’t know him at all and, yet, she was standing here in the water sharing all sorts of information with him. Kaesyn couldn’t remember the last time that she had spoken of her dance career with anyone who wasn’t family. And, even then, the list was long. Getting all worked up about not being able to dance was something she had promised herself she wouldn’t do. If anything, it would make her son feel like he wasn’t wanted. Maybe not as his current age because, hell, all he cared about was food and toys; but, there was a possibility that he would grow up and feel as if Kae resented him. She wouldn’t be able to deal with that, not with him not having a father, that wasn’t against children, to turn to. ”The hope is unnecessary. Not that its bad or anything, you just don’t need to hope. You’ll be great.” Without realizing it, she’d gone into manager mode. No matter how hard she worked to keep it in an idle state, Kaesyn always seemed to tap into it. ”Spoken like a true superhero.” Kae said with a smile, solidifying her point.

Superstars were often people that were sweet, but didn’t seem all that approachable. Hayden had that going for him as well, though he was easier to approach than the average Superman. She could see herself spending time with him. And not just on a managerial level, as she wasn’t his manager, but on more personal level. It wasn’t common for her to be close to her clients at all, but she kept them at arm’s length. At least, she did her best to do so, some of her clients weren’t all that accommodating and quite challenging to work with. But there was something about Hayden that made her want to keep him close, friendly but close. Maybe more than friendly, if she really let herself think that far. Hayden, a complete stranger, was the first person she’d mentioned dance to in years. If he could get her make her feel that comfortable in less than an hour, they needed to be friends. People like that didn’t come around very often and passing up the chance to keep one in your social group was beyond stupid.

A sweet, borderline sexy smirk appeared on her face as his lips stopped moving, ”Good to know. Well, this is me not trying to impress you.” Kae giggled not being able to hold it back. Even though she was just standing out in the water with some random guy, she was having a really good time. Good day off. She returned fire, flicking water back at him. He closed the gap between them and she smiled. Glancing up at the sun and then back down at his rather symmetrical face, she lightened the smile and spoke. ”Psh, exclusive is basically another word for lonely. Someone’s got to join the triple threat ranks and keep me company.” That was about the best invitation Kae could give to ask for her number, if he were thinking about asking for it. She could tell that he was thinking though as his bright blue eyes faded a bit. She couldn’t tell if they were darker or lighter. They were just…faded.

Leaving to check one’s phone was the quickest way to get away from someone that was bothering you. Naturally, Kae felt as if that was the reason his phone had instantly become his number one priority. Then it dawned on her. He was Superman, he was always busy. Just because she had finally gotten a day off didn’t mean that he had too. ”I should probably get going, move on to the next thing on my ‘lists of things to do on my annual day off.” she decided. Trailing behind him the whole walk back to the sand and her stuff, she thought about whether or not she wanted to see him again. Because, right now, she wasn’t too sure that she could give herself a reason not to extend an offer to do so.

Having anyone's support felt like heaven to him; he felt alone in the middle of a huge city and an overwhelming dream. He didn't know where he was going with this unrealistic goal, to be honest, and he had no idea if he would have the second career option waiting for him if he ever got done with the acting scene. Knowing that a near stranger was on his team made him happy and mildly apprehensive -- what reason did he have to think that he was a shoe-in? How did she know that he wasn't just a compulsive liar or a terrible yet lucky actor? She didn't know him, and that realization made Hayden frown without realizing how visibly dissatisfied he was in front of the pretty girl. He had no idea if he would be seeing her after today. Surely, he had the option of asking her, but she also had the option of denying him. He began to become fearful. Kaesyn and Hayden, whether or not they could sense it, held nearly identical views on relationships. They had something in their past that held them back just like any other twenty-something-year-old, but what set them apart was the fact that they were continuing to keep others at arms' length. No rebounds were really found, no quick decisions were made. The two were taking things slow in order to find their way after a tragedy. Hayden didn't know Kaesyn's story, but someone with that good of a heart had been through shit. Hayden had his own philosophy on human nature, and a a component of it stated that a good person had to have gone through struggle. Those who did not struggle could not fully understand other people. Without that understanding, compassion was a struggle. Kaesyn seemed to have the kindness down-pat. Hayden was beginning to find excessive comfort in her mere presence. If she stopped speaking, he would still feel content to stand by her in the middle of a vast ocean. "Lonely, I see," he smiled at her as he quirked an eyebrow in her direction. He could see all the signs that Kaesyn liked him, at least from her first impression of him, and he wanted to further his chances. He had encountered a few LA girls. No one but Brinna had been very different from the others, but Brinna was also enigmatic and peculiar. Unlike Kaesyn, she didn't have many psychological explanations behind her personality. She was a mystery in herself. Hayden had considered what he would have done as a psychologist during the first encounter with Brinna. Considering she was unlike anyone he had ever known, he would have been running tests to find out what she really was. With Kaesyn, there was no question that she was human: she understood people, liked making them happy, and had a natural propensity to uphold others' joys. That kind of girl was the kind that Hayden felt he should keep close. Once the couple had made their way back to the shore where their belongings lay, Hayden checked his phone. The only message he had was from his mother, asking where he was and if he was doing well. He didn't respond to every message. He cowered from the thought that he would become dependent on his mother's support instead of finding love outside of his blood-related family. He looked up at Kaesyn with the phone in hand, knowing what he wanted to do next. That was the conundrum he faced: Hayden was indecisive. Even when he knew what he wanted, he didn't understand how to approach it. His decisions were just math problems in the air. "Kaesyn, would you want to have dinner with me sometime this weekend?" he asked her after looking from her face to the phone for a few moments. [/style]

Kae didn’t feel bad for falling into manager mode, but she was a little disappointed. She tried to stay out of it when she wasn’t working and she tried even harder to refrain from falling in when she was with strangers. Unless they were in the business, they would either think she was trying way too hard to be nice or that she was trying to coax them into, eventually, getting someone to do something for her when she needed. Of course, Kaesyn wasn’t doing either of the two. She just couldn’t help it. That was precisely why she was so good at her job. And, sometimes, she believed that she’d be pushed out of dance and had fallen into the managerial field for this very reason. Being naturally supportive and all around kind on its own would have had the very people she was working for eating her alive. After having gone through some of the things she had, including have to leave dance behind, she was more than strong enough for this industry. These days, she actually enjoyed her job. Even though she wanted to snap on half the people she came in contact with.

She could sense Hayden shared someone of her same interactive views. He wasn’t shy, not that she could tell, but she was sure that he’d be through something traumatic. Why she was thinking about this now? She couldn’t crank out an answer even if she wanted to. She just let her brain run with its thoughts, listening only when it peaked her attention. Hayden was a sweetheart, but a genuine gentleman. And he was far too attractive to be that nice. The only explanation was that he’d been though a lot. Not that she needed to analyze his looks to see that. She could tell by the way he was second-guessing how close he should get. And Kaesyn was doing the exact same thing. She didn’t want to get to close, making him uncomfortable. And she didn’t want to get too close and allow herself to do something stupid. The flirting was just the right touch for this kind of meeting, if she let her guard down… Well that wouldn’t be the best choice.

Kae nodded, not that she was lonely. It was a little hard to be working behind the scenes. There was always someone that turned out to be extremely similar to her. In this sense, however, being lonely wasn’t that bad of a thing. Not if it meant that she could meet guys like Hayden on the beach. Guys that didn’t need to be the center of attention, and didn’t need to have every single woman in the area flocking to him to have a good time. He wasn’t that guy, and she was thankful for that. No matter what came out of this meeting, she was sure that he would be a reliable friend. That was exactly what she needed. Above anything, she needed a friend that understood her. ”Loneliness is inevitable. Especially if I’m one of the few triple threats around.” she said with a cute smile, refraining from sticking her tongue out at him. As comfortable as she felt with him, she remembered that they had just met all less than an hour ago.

Compressing her wet, curly hair between her hands, she squeezed as much water out of it as she could. When it dried it would be slightly frizzy, but at least the curls would remain intact. That was the good part of having naturally curly hair. She didn’t have to put my work into it ever. Now, straightening it was a different story. Kae stopped at her stuff, pulling a towel out of her bag to make sure the job her hands had done was a good one. When she looked back up, Hayden went to speak. Dinner? Admittedly, she was kind of surprised. She wasn’t expecting that but, she was glad that she didn’t have to make up some random excuse to give him her number. ”Dinner would be fun.” she replied with a smile. She held her hands out for a few seconds before deciding just to take it and save her number in it. ”Just let me know when? I’ll see if I can work something out.” she added, giving the phone back to him.
